why are people sad? the minimum wage has been raised. more people can afford to buy these things at higher prices, right?
-
when the majority of your work force is minimum wage workers, and when the price to pay said workers climbs 32% in four years....... you have to recoup those costs somehow. 5.15 in 1997 5.85 2007 6.55 2008 7.25 2009 7.55 2010 7.55-5.15 = 2.40 2.40/7.55 = 32% where else is the money supposed to come from?

very true. to an extent. society has deemed a certain set of values, morals, and beliefs as the norm. and written laws to protect them. or against them. most of us hold those values, morals, and beliefs as sacred. i understand that it is the christian way to forgive and love a sinner. however, i couldn't very well reconcile myself to sharing a meal at my table with a serial killer. nor could i have much compassion for him were he to be killed during the commission of one of his crimes. -

that i don't know. one of my children keeps his emotions very close to the vest. one wears them on his sleeve. my daughter is a preteen and has emotions that would rival the famous-est of rollercoasters. i try to let them know that they may not be touched/moved by everything. but when they are, to embrace it, feel it, then try to place an action behind it. yes, this once led my daughter to have several meltdowns over stepping on ants, which then led to he begging for a bridge to be built between the front door and the car. you can't win them all. -

thank you for your honesty. again, it's my hope that somehow, there's a way to balance out what you don't believe with what someone else does. -

very honest answer. thank you. i wonder if it makes us bad people if we don't react to every heartbreak or tragedy in the world, or even in the news. i think if i started to, i'd never be able to stop, and what a mess i'd be then. it's nice to think that with as many people as there are on the planet there's enough that everyone of us has someone (or several someones) who would be compassionate for us in our time of need. (even if we kinds deserved it:blush) perhaps there's enough of us to create a balance? this kind of goes toward what i was saying. caped crus -

i have no problem being completely honest about this. some things move me. others don't. some times, i think people deserve what they get. and have no qualms about felling it, or saying it. other times i keep my mouth shut. -
good grief! please just be careful... if you can't safely remove them yourself, i hope you can find someone to help. and don't get stung too many times between now and then!!!!

cause he prolly deserved it, right? i mean, all those horrible phone calls he made..... wonder how many other people that wreck each year deserve it. -
i'll own up to not having very much at all. now that that's out of the way..... at what point does a reasonable person with no mental illness stop caring about the wellbeing of another person? when you pass a wreck, or hear of one, do you send up prayers? a call comes over the scanner about an attempted suicide or a housefire, do you reach out to the family? most of us would say yes. without even thinking about it. what if you knew that the person in the wreck starved his dog to death? or that the suicide atemptee once date raped a college girl? or that the family
