Have you ever visited the USA? If not, be prepared for culture shock. Even though Paulding County is rural it is not the same kind of rural as you experience in Deutchland.
Paulding County is a great place to live and the south is the best.
Actually, I've been in Geogia some years ago. My father's brother had a job in Athens. But I'm quite sure, I didn't visit PC during that time
BTW, is there a newspaper in PC which can be read online? If somebody of you is interested in the city, where I'm from: www.hattingen.de

Lars ~ You need to meet Quasimodem.
Interesting name One more who makes me afraid!
-
Thank you all (hmmm, most of you ) for the warm welcome (especially those, who tried to answer in German ). I hope to meet some of you in the summer for a cool beer or something else. That's one of the reasons I chose Dallas/GA. I think it's easier to get to know nice people in a small city than in a big one. I hope, I'll get an insight into the spirit of the deep south during this time.
And again the request: If you know someone, having a furnished room and looking for a roommate, please give me a hint.
See you
Lars
By the way: feel free to correct my messages, I think I have to learn a lot

6,36 $ , that's what we pay in Germany for a gallon of gas

When I read the messages at the board, I feel a bit like a Michael J. Fox in one of these movies from the 80ths: young, successful, good looking attorney at law, coming from the big big city to hicktown....
But there is one difference: I'm quite sure that I'll return to the city!

BBQ differs from region to region....but you can get just about every kind around here.
I have three months to taste all of them!

... and San Francisco, and Seattle, and Cape Town/SA! But I heard, you make the best barbecue! And I hate this "Sex and the city"-mentality!

Seien Sie ängstlich nicht. Es war ein Witz.
Might I also say...
Empfang!
Es wird so nett sein, Sie in unserem Land zu haben. Ich hoffe, dass Sie Ihre Zeit hier genießen.
P.S. My German is very rough. I only took a few classes. I apologize if I hacked the above.
Be afraid. Be very afraid. One thing is for certain, you'll leave with a much greater appreciation for your homeland.Guten Tag und willkommen nach Georgia. That's about all I remember from my language classes in German. That and Straßenbahnhaltestelle (my favorite German word) I spent 3 years in your country way back in the late 70's/ early 80's.
Loved the wiessenbier. And wine. And sausage. And the history. and your Luftwaffe.
Welcome, Lars! I have no doubt that you'll enjoy your visit, so long as you have transportation.I'm curious though: an internship in Paulding County?
Maybe NYC would have been the better alternative! Toooooo late! Argh!

Wow! My Grandma and Grandpa were from Dusseldorf!
It's a small world after all....... lalalalalala!

Welcome Lars!
As far as learning English, how do you feel about teaching the people of Paulding County how to speak proper English?
You make me afraid!
Lars

Hello together!
My name is Lars and I'm a 28 years old German guy from Hattingen (that's round about 25 miles away from Dusseldorf in the Ruhr-area). I'm coming to Paulding County this summer for an internship.
I'm here in this forum to get to know some people of "my homeland for three months". So, if you're interested in chatting or mailing with me, send a mail to lars77martin@web.de.
Greetings from good old Europe
Lars
P.S. Excuse my English - one of the reasons I come to your nice counrty is to improve my language skills

Hello!
I'm afraid I'm a little bit of-topic, but I hope, you can help me anyway!
I'm a 28 year old German guy, spending the summer for an internship in Paulding County. Therefor I'm looking for a furnished room or appartment in or close to Dallas for the time from the end of July to the beginning of November (did I write "summer"?).
I think, I'm the best roommate of the world (my only problem -as you already noticed, are my language skills).
If you know someone, looking for a roommate, please contact me.
Thanks a lot and greetings from good old Germany
Lars
Looking For A Dog

That's the best dog of the world! He loves children, cats, lizards, housebrakers, snow and Schweinebraten. "Max" is an "Appenzeller Sennenhund" and I have no idea, what's that in English
