  1. Hi y'all,

it works! And I've already been afraid, you kicked me out of p.com. :o Thank you for all the mails I got the last days. It will take some days to answer it.

Here in Hattingen, Germany, everything is fine. The summer has been wet and cold, so I spent all my time with work, work and work <_< . As Quasi wrote, finally I got a new job, it's a lot of fun, doing lobby-work for restaurant-owners ;) .

I miss Paulding County and the nice people I met over there, I miss your homecooking-restaurants, I miss the Octoberfest in Atlanta (but this year, I'll visit the one in Munich) and last but not least, I miss the easy way of living, down there in the deep south.

    Have a nice sunday

  2. Not too long ago me and my mom seen a coyote going across the railroad track overpass by the hospital. I guess that they are running out of places to live??

And who's fault is it? I suppose these %#$^#* liberal, CNN, democratic Bush-abusing non-patriot's! :ninja: :D

  3. My first car was (is) a 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo. I got it in the age of 28! :-) Actually, home in Germany, I used my parents cars when I still lived at their house. Since I live with my girlfriend, I use her car. One car is enough for us, we have good public transportation.

P.S. Anybody here interested in a 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo, it's a great FIRST CAR! ^_^

  4. Thanks to y'all giving us recommondations for a roundtrip through the deep south. We had a great time.

First, we spent some days in Dallas for relaxing. A nice day at Redtop mountain and two days in Atlanta, visiting the Aquarium (great), Underground (well, booooooooooring), the capitol and other places.

After that, we went to Gantlinburg, spending some great days in our cabin and the woods. We saw lots of deer and two black bears. Great!

Next, we drove to Charleston and Savannah, two amazing cities (my girlfriend prefered Charleston, me Savannah). In Savannah, we went to Boone's Hall and visited some of the golden isles. Tybee was great, we saw otters, deer and racoons. We went for dinner to "The crab shak", a ver "interesting" place :-).

Then we left and went to the Okefenokee-Swamp and had a great Kayak-Tour with lots of mosquitos and aligators (actually, more alligators than mosquitos).

Last, but not least, we spent some days in Apalachicola in a very nice Inn. Apalachicola is quite boring, but it's just ten miles away from St. Georges Island and St. Vincent Island. Great days at the coast, barbecue at the beach and swimming with rays.

Vera and I want to say "thank you" to all the p-commers who had recommondations and ideas. A two weeks trip, 2,000 miles and a lot of fun. For pictures, click here.

  5. I recognize that street name. I can't remember the s/d name but here's how to get there. Travelling on 101 from Dallas towards Temple go straight at the 4 way stop (at Rose's store). You'll see the s/d about a mile down on the left. Turn in the s/d and take the 1st left....that's Brookcliff Court.

Thank you so much! Could it be, that the name of the subdivision "Meadowbrooke" is?

    Lars :)

  6. You name the place and time, Lars.......and we (The Wilhelm's) are there! With our poorly spoken German and huge appetites for all things German we will be first in line.

If we hurry, it could be a real Oktoberfest (even the REAL Oktoberfest is in September).

    Lars :)

P.S. Gluehwein can be a very, very, very dangerous drink !!!!!!

  7. ..... ich habe mir gerade mein Mittagessen fuer morgen gekocht. Einen grossen Topf gute deutsche Erbsensuppe! Schoen mit Kartoffeln, Moehren, Zwiebeln und Mettwurst. Lecker! Schade, dass hier niemand weiss, wovon ich spreche (Bill natuerlich ausgenommen, der eine Extraportion bekommt ;) ). Oder doch? Mal sehen, wer antwortet. Wer weiss, vielleicht ist ja noch was ueber... :)

Jetzt muss ich aber nochmal abschmecken ^_^

    Lars

  8. Lars, no insult or offense intended but......Here in the states we dont feel its ok for an "allied" woman to meet with an unallied man for friendship because it may lead to something more. If we have time we should cultivate current relationships but thats just the majority. Also when there is someone who is new to the country its ok to be looking for friendships, I dont know how long you have been but my warning flags go up when someone is seeking to meet others on the internet. I wonder why they dont have friends from work or neighbors etc. Just my take.

What you wrote aprroves the experiences I (and some of my German friends here in the staates) made. Where I'm from, it's not a big deal to ask someone to go out. When I tried it the first times (BTW, with girls/women I didn't met in the internet) and it failed, I thought it was because of me. After a while I found out, that it wasn't me, but a difference in the behavior of people from here and people at my home.

That's interesting and IMO a pity, but now where I know it, it's OK for me.

    Lars

BTW, I don't have problems with looking for people in the internet. I met two really good friends in different forums.

I don't know, I have many male friends and luckily hubby just isn't jealous. Some live out of town and stay here when he's at work and we do errands and have lunch. He has female friends. He knows all of my male friends and I know all most of his female friends, I don't know all of the women he works with so who knows, I'm just not that insecure. He isn't either. I meet with male friends for lunch sometimes, he doesn't care. You just have to be secure with your spouse and your marriage and I see no point whatsoever why men and women can't be "just friends".

That's how I think it should be!

  9. Hey Lars! Didn't I send you a PM not long ago? Either I didn't and thought I did, or you haven't responded. Anyway, I'll be going up to Helen in two weeks.

Yes you did, sorry to answer so late, but I haven't been online for a longer time because my girlfriend was visiting me the last weeks. She left yesterday afternoon :( and I just didn't want to respond all the mails I got the last three weeks at one time. But you have been on my list. ^_^

    I'll send you a PM. Now! :)

  10. What about your fiance?

Maybe dating was the wrong word. "Going out" is maybe better (?). But I'm afraid, "going out" with a married, engaged or woman with a boyfriend is more difficult here than at home.

Many of my friends in Germany are girls/women. Some of them are married, some are engaged, some have boyfriends and some are singles. My girlfriend doesn't like some of them, so I met them alone for lunch, dinner, cinema or going to a club. And she is going out with guys, I don't like.

Why should I go with them, destroying a nice evening they could have, just I because don't like her old friend (who she maybe knows longer than me)?! And why should she prohibit me to go dancing with my new (female) collegue, when she doesn't like going to this club?!

I trust her, and she trustes me. That's IMO one of the most important parts of a realationship.

  11. Hi y'all,

I'm becoming homesick and want to spend one or two nights at the Oktoberfest in Helen next weekend. 13/14/15 of October. But it's boring to party alone. Anybody (m/f) who's interested to join?

I'm 29, male, from Germany (Guten Tag auch) and interested in party, beer, party, music, party, football and, ehhh, party!

  12. How do American Football fans compare to European Soccer fans?

I think, most European soccer fans visit a game to watch the match and soccer, as a sport. I saw many people at the football game, who were not really interested in the game, but they just enjoyed the spirit of the game and the atmosphere. And there werde many more children than I ever saw at a soccer game in Germany. But I like both. Are there any football games in Atlanta next friday or saturday? :ninja:
