gpatt0n
This from a Gallup poll conducted in 134 countries. The decline in confidence comes from the base line that had that US as the country with the highest, by a significant margin, confidence level under former President Obama (48% vs. 30%). From the Guardian: Global confidence in US leadership has fallen to a new low, and the country now ranks below China in worldwide approval ratings, according to a new Gallup poll. The survey of opinion in 134 countries showed a record collapse in approval for the US role in the world, from 48% under Obama to 30% after one year of Donald Trump – the lowest level Gallup has recorded since beginning its global leadership poll over a decade ago. The result comes after a separate Gallup survey found that Trump reaches the first anniversary of his inauguration with the lowest average approval rating of any elected president in his first year. That poll showed that Trump has averaged just a 39% approval rating since his inauguration. The previous low was held by Bill Clinton, whose first-year average was 10 points higher than Trump’s, at 49%. The latest study confirms some of the worst fears of foreign policy analysts in the US and Europe that Trump’s “America first” approach, combined with his volatile and irascible personality, is weakening cohesion among western democracies in the face of a growing challenge from autocracies in Russia and China, and the rise of illiberal democracies and xenophobic nationalism inside Europe. Germany is now seen as a global leader by many more people (41% of the sample), with China in second place on 31%. Russia has 27% approval for its global role according to the poll. In just under half of the world’s countries – 65 out of 134 – US standing collapsed, by 10 percentage points or more. Some of the biggest losses were among Washington’s closest allies in western Europe, Australia, and Latin America.
glassdogs
It's just heartbreaking that those turd-world nations are unhappy that DJT is Making America Great Again. Mentioning Germany as a "world leader" is particularly interesting, given that Merkle has allowed Sharia Law to basically take over there. So.......Pat, I have a serious question. How many hours a day do you spend scouring the interwebs looking for morsels like this to feed your mental illness? Wouldn't your time be better spent searching for some advertising revenue and dealing with local issues than continuing to be the point man for lunacy? Maybe you could "Make P.com Great Again". CitizenCain
No doubt under Dotard J Trump the US is fast becoming the world's largest S-hole and the countries bigoted nut jobs seem to be coming out of the woodwork. Amazon just announced it's top 20 cities for its new headquarters and Toronto Canada is one of their choices Jeff Bezos is nobody's fool. A country that would elect a racist off - his - rocker reality TV host to lead their country says volumes about a nations IQ and the downward direction it's headed. While I don't disagree about the media's lack of integrity.... this very "news item" posted by our own P.com socialist-in-chief, is, in, of itself, proof positive of, while not positively "fake" news, certainly "skewed". No mention of the size of the sample of the poll, how it was taken, and over what period of time. We all KNOW how un-biased and definitively accurate and truthful pollsters are. And then for a UK left-leaning newspaper to publish those "results" is further reason to question the legitimacy. Hey, if polls were right all the time, we'd be bowing at HRC's throne about now. gpatt0n
I think the lack of confidence comes from the fact that our president is at best a super salesman who, after one year of conflicting and often absurd pitches, tweets and insults, has been revealed to be a liar of monumental proportions. Those of you who forgive his serial lies on anything from the trivial to the substantive - there was no reason to threaten even jokingly that his nuke button is larger than Kim Jong Un's - don't get it - liars don't generate confidence. That you've bought into the lies, either as a matter of faith or faith in his artful use of deception, adds to the lowered confidence of people not just around the world or your neighbors. This is particularly disturbing as most conservatives were so adamant that character counts. Whether it is the nights with the porn star hooker he paid hush money or his self-aggrandizing lies on the size of his inaugural crowd or his embracing of neo nazis in rhetoric any notion this man has character is laughable. Oh, but, it's OK because he's just another deranged looney left winger from Ar-Kansas. You wouldn't know "character" if it bit you on the butt. You'll note that the Republicans in Congress impeached Bill Clinton for that act. I'll note that after the racist Sh*thole statement Republican senators Tom Cotton of Ar-Kansas and Georgia Senator Purdue both lied saying that Trump didn't say what he admitted he said. Then, in true "I'm not a crook" Nixonian style, Trump himself felt compelled to say with the same degree of incredulity, "I'm not a racist." Of course, the biggest part of the problem with trump is that he is just incompetent. So incompetent that Mitch McConnell today said, "As soon as I can figure out what he is for," they'll pass it but they have no idea what his is for because, well you can't deal with someone who is so vapid and full of lies that a yes doesn't mean a yes and a no doesn't mean a no. "He's an unparalleled combination of mendacity and incompetence" - Max Boot. "I don't know how you deal with someone like that." pubby

CitizenCain
The world now puts more trust in China than the United States. "This collapse of trust was driven mainly by an increased lack of faith in government, which fell 14 points to 33 percent among the general population, and slumped 30 points to 33 percent among the informed public. The remaining institutions of business, media and NGOs also experienced declines between 10 and 20 points. In the report's executive summary, Edelman called it an "ultimate irony" that the U.S. public's lack of faith is happening at a time when both the stock market and employment rates in the U.S. are at record highs. At the other end of the scale, China posted the biggest rise in the trust index among all countries measured with increases among both the general population and the informed public." https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/22/davos-2018-edelman-barometer-reveals-record-drop-in-trust-from-us-public.html?__source=yahoo%7Cfinance%7Cheadline%7Cheadline%7Cstory&par=yahoo&doc=104958661&yptr=yahoo

You do know that among the things not reported on Fox is that Duetsch Bank, over the objections and after an arguable bribe by the administration, they turned over financial banking records on Trump. The real issue with the trump administration is that a portion of its policies are being set by those who have blackmailed the man into following a specific course of action. This is because he was compromised by his prior actions before he even won the nomination. As far as his record on women getting jobs, no one doubts that he's a heterosexual. We understand from the book fire and fury that he likes to hit on every skirt around. Most women and men, for that matter, recognize the misogyny that permeates Trump's personality. The point is that just as Chuck Shumer and Mitch McConnell and the vast majority of the rest of us recognize that Trump is bloviating sales man who is challenged by the truth like no other. Consensus truth doesn't exist in his mind because, well, his truth is based on the notion the universe revolves around him and anything that doesn't fit within that tautology is alien. That we just see him as a self-centered grand narcissist who lies is our truth. Those who buy his truth are either lying to themselves or so overwhelmed by authority that they are incapable of recognizing truth when it slaps them in the face. Either that or their name is Huckabee-Sanders. Finally, we know that it will take the presentation of a bullet-proof case detailing criminal and even potentially treasonous acts by Donald Trump. With as much smoke as has been emitted, anyone capable of reading smoke signals knows that much of the drama that Trump has created is aimed at obfuscation of the signals that have been floating in the hill. It's going to be glorious when you finally realize that you've been worshiping lies and corrupt media. There's a quiet revolution going on in this country. The army of that revelation is made up of regular everyday people. People who don't go to silly marches where people just make fools of themselves, people who don't wear vagina hats, people who are just sick and tired of corruption taking over their country. People who want congress to represent us again. The Democrats just pushed a whole lot of people to join that revolution when they showed that they care more about illegal aliens than hardworking Americans and our proud armed forces. And you're on the losing side, dude.
