What would cause my

smoke detectors to go off? Lost the power for about 30 seconds, and then about 40 minutes later, the smoke detectors started going on and off for about 5 minutes. They are hardwired. Looked everywhere, including the attic. Doesn't seem to be any problems. This happened once before, but I can't remember if there was a storm or not.

 

Scaring the bejeezus out of my kids!

Mine are hard wiredd too, but also have a battery.. they go off when the battery gets low, or sometimes for no reason at all.

Freakin scary. My daughter has decided not to go to bed! She's scared! She has all of her worldly possesions with her, and just put her shoes on "in case"............

Bless her heart! It always freaks me out too when it happens. Make my hubby walk the entire house, basement included to make sure there is no smoke.

I made mine climb into the attic...........never checked the basement though!
