I know we typically go every other Friday night and they always have it them. YUMMMMMMMM. I was so happy to see Wayne back at Rodneys - now if he will just bring back the Butt Ugly Cake !! Thank so much you for remembering our cakes, and the warm welcome I have received upon my return to Rodney's Hiram. The "Butt Ugly" is an individual dessert known more for its taste than it appearance. Once while testing new cakes, I came upon the "ugly" when I placed too much batter into a new cake pan I was testing. After looking at the cake, my wife Brenda said it was "Butt Ugly"! Then she gave one to Rodney, and the rest is history! There are several "Ugly" cakes. The original, "Big Daddy Wayne's Fudge Butt Ugly" is a moist devil's food cake, infused with a fluffy milk chocolate filling, covered with rich dark fudge, and topped with caramelized pecans, walnuts, or sprinkles. Several other "ugly" cakes followed, including the "Caitlin Caramel Ugly", named after my granddaughter, the "Coconut Ugly", using a frosting from Rodney's family recipe book, and many more. The "Caitlin Cake", which is also made as a 3 layer round cake, is one of the most popular cakes we have ever served. We are also bringing back some other deserts, including "Parker Pie" (my grandson's), which is a rich peanut butter parfait with a graham cracker crust and chocolate topping. Rodney has decided it's time to bring back some of our original desserts, including the "Butt Ugly". We will be testing our original cakes at our Hiram location soon, and then they will be available at at both Rodney's locations in New Hope and Hiram. The "Butt Ugly" cake will join the current list of great cakes and desserts now made by Chefs Joseph and Jessica, and we hope you enjoy all our dessert selections.
