  1. A life well lived by a giant among men. Prayers for comfort for the family.
  2. May Shirley Rest in Peace. She and her husband will always have my undying gratitude for their support of my sister and niece before my niece passed away. Her spirit and love will be remembered: A beautiful person. Betty Sparti
  3. I read one of the shooter's supposed posts that talked about earlier school shootings and how unknown people become known all over the world. I think giving the name to the public and feeding the fame is a large part of the problem. I say make these shooters anonymous. I applaud the Sheriff of that county refusing to name the shooter and feel ashamed of our media for concentrating on doing exactly what the shooter wanted. Quote: The names of those killed and wounded were not yet released nor would Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin name the shooter publicly, more out of rage than discretion. “I will not name the shooter,” he said at a news conference Thursday night. “I will not give him credit for this horrific act of cowardice. Media will get the name confirmed in time … but you will never hear us use it.” While we all want to know what caused this, it is sad that we pay the piper and follow along with their crazy goals to make themselves famous. If we want to do something to stop this, I believe we should DEMAND that the shooters' names remain anonymous.
  4. Could it possibly be Derek Lawrence of Lawrence Lawn Care? If so, we have his number if you want to call our office. 770-443-2955.
  5. Since I'm not a commerce member in recent months, I doubt Pubby will let me say we want to be the real estate buyer's agent for Carmen Roberts if she uses her money to buy a home! http://www.ajc.com/news/news/local/2-months-after-win-hiram-woman-claims-1m-powerball/nmkFw/
  6. I also support Brian Williams. His apology (" I want to apologize: I said I was traveling in an aircraft that was hit by RPG fire. I was instead in a following aircraft. We all landed and spent two harrowing nights in a sandstorm in the desert.") I think if you are in a very close group of helicopters that are taking shots, it becomes a matter of "We" are being shot at. "We" landed and spent two harrowing nights in a sandstorm in the desert. I am sure it was very traumatic. Ironically, I was just commenting to Frank a day or so before this came out on how well Brian Williams reports and keeps himself under control during some newscasts I would be blubbering over. I hope his career is not ended over this.
  7. Very sweet message. That made me smile. Merry Christmas! B
  8. Hi Surepip, I was talking with my sister-in-law who is a nurse practitioner with more letters after her name than I could remember (she is a perpetual student and is constantly learning). I asked her about therapy for a family member and she said the best therapy is Positive Psychology based. Now, the theory is that dwelling on the bad memories or experiences in therapy may be counterproductive. I have to say that when I went through some depression in past years, I tried medication, I tried therapy, and was finally jolted out of it by an experience I won't go into here, but I looked up depression on the Internet and read that a simple rubber band around your wrist and snapping it when you think bad thoughts, and then tell yourself to STOP thinking those thoughts worked wonders for me. Sounds silly, but it worked for me. I then replaced the bad memories with a good one. It is the same premise as Positive Psychology, I would think. I am not at all saying that medications, and classic therapy aren't needed in many cases, but for me, the jolt I got made me realize I was being self-absorbed by focusing on things in my past I couldn't change. I was not being present for friends and family that needed me while I dwelt in the depression and with the aide of my rubber-band , I changed my thought habits. I learned to live in the present moment only, not looking backward or forward, but just experiencing the moment I was in to make it the best moment. Again, I am not saying regular accepted therapy and medications aren't beneficial in some cases. I am just telling you of my own experience and what my brilliant sister-in-law had to say about the subject. So, you might consider looking into Positive Psychology Therapy. B
  9. We in the Sparti family are so sorry that we didn't know this until just seeing this post. Our hearts go out to the Osborne family for this huge loss. Mr. Osborne was a great man.
  10. Oh my goodness. I just read all this. Prayers for Surepip and the family. Betty
