  1. I miss the Hardy Lights too. My wife and I used to go every year. I think it ended in the 90s - does anyone know exactly when?

I think we took my 2 oldest children but they were too young to remember it now.

Last year I was paying for gas at the station in New Hope and some people came in asking for directions to the Hardy Lights! The clerk told them that ended years ago.

Ever since the Hardy Lights went away we have gone to Lights of Light, and we enjoy that.

Parents Night Out is operated as a fund raiser by our youth group along with our youth director and adult volunteers. Parents can drop off their children during the time listed, and have some time to themselves, which is great for Christmas shopping in December.

Ages included are 6 months old to 5th grade. Parents make a donation to the youth group.

If you would like to contact our youth director, his name is Brandon Herder. He can be reached at brandon@countylineumc.org, or 770-428-0511 x 105.

  9. Close to that time yesterday morning, I saw 2 PC sheriffs going up Old Cartersville Rd (normal speed) and turn on Old Ivey. Not far behind on Old Cartersville Rd were 2 Cherokee County sheriff cars. I thought it was odd to see Cherokee deputies.

Then again this morning, saw a PC sheriff coming up Old Cartersville, and then saw a Cherokee deputy further down on Old Cartersville, heading the same direction.

I figured that someone in New Hope was being charged with something they did in Cherokee, but had not been found yet.

  10. If you are in the East Paulding area and do not have a home church for Easter services, please consider joining us at County Line United Methodist Church as we celebrate the season. 18. Yeah, it's DISH. Pay about $60 for the 150 channel package and local channels for 2 rooms. We don't have any premium movie channels, but there are 5 or 6 movie channels included in my package, it's just not the most current movies. The stuff we really wanted were things that Comcast did not have, or charged an arm and a leg for, such as ESPNews and ESPN Classic, VH1 classic, the Disney channel and a bunch of others for the kids.

  19. Get rid of cable and go with satellite.

One of the happiest days of my life was taking the Comcast cable box back and freeing myself and my family from their limited and overpriced digital (what a joke). I got DISH, with more channels in multiple rooms for less money than fewer cable channels in one room, plus all kind of cool interactive stuff like instant weather and sports scores.

Oh, and maybe 1 or 2 times a year, near hurricane strength rain interrupts the signal for a few seconds. Cable went out more than that, and then you got to talk to customer service, which was akin to a root canal with no Novocain.

Have never regretted leaving cable behind.

  20. CARMAX beats any traditional car dealer whether buying used or buying a new Chrysler or Jeep at their Norcross location. They don't play games with the price, the trade in, the financing, nothing. Absolutely straightforward. I bought a new vehicle, and the experience was dramatically different from any other dealer (I have bought new and used from various well known dealers in the Paulding and Cobb areas). After having purchased a vehicle at CARMAX, I can't ever imagine going back to the wrestling match and stupid tricks at traditional dealers. And I don't work for CARMAX, I'm just a satisfied customer.
