  1. No, this one was several months ago.

I think the subdivision was off or near Cedar Crest, or in the Cross Roads area in north Paudling. If I remember correctly, one or possibly 2 guys followed her home from shopping. I think she had been at the Kroger at Cross Roads.

She pulled into her driveway, and they stopped their car on the street and one of them ran up and grabbed her or pushed her down as she was getting out of her car.

  2. Several months ago there was a story on local news TV and discussed here on Pcom about a woman in a North Paulding subdivision who had been followed home by some thugs after shopping, and assaulted/robbed in her driveway.

It made me a bit concerned, but I never heard what happened or if they caught anyone. I probably just missed it.

Does anyone know the story I am talking about, and have updated info?

  3. Our computer died and my whole family freaked. We are so dependent on the PC for important information, homework, etc. And it's amazing how isolated you feel when you are "off the grid" and can't connect to the internet.

Once I got to work, I came here to P-com and searched to see who people liked for computer repair, and several people recommended A Friendly Geek (afriendlygeek.com). So I called him.

He came right to our house, and had us up and running in no time. And what we paid was so low I felt like I should pay more!

So what everyone said about A Friendly Geek was true - he really is friendly, and also knowledgeable, fast and affordable!

Just wanted to let everybody know.

Does any one have any knowledge of how this affects the reservoir & green space initiatives in Paulding?

Georgia suspends water supply, land conservation grants

    Atlanta Business Chronicle

Georgia’s budget crunch is starting to affect the state’s water supply and land conservation efforts.

The Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority announced Thursday that Gov. Sonny Perdue’s budget office has suspended funding for two grant programs approved by the General Assembly earlier this year amid much fanfare.

The move will affect $40 million the governor and legislature earmarked for water supply grants. Much of that money was expected to go toward efforts to build more reservoirs, a key component of the new statewide water management plan lawmakers adopted in January.

Another $10 million in grant funding affected by the order represented the next allocation in Perdue’s land conservation initiative, an effort to safeguard from development open space considered of significant value as a historical, cultural or natural resource.

The sluggish economy has sent state tax revenues plummeting in recent months, opening up a projected $1.6 billion budget shortfall that state agencies are being instructed to plug with spending cuts and reallocations of funding to what are considered the most essential programs and services.

  5. . . . . both candidates and their families actually ATTEND CHURCH TOGETHER!! I do not know what church they attend, but I can ASSURE you that if they went to my church and were acting like this in public, BOTH of them would have been called in and talked to by the Senior Minister and the Elders. What an embarassment to the Body of Christ. I sincerely hope that their church leadership has rebuked them both for they way they have run their campaigns.

Both candidates are Methodist, and we Methodists don't do a very good job at rebuking the politicians on our church rolls who need rebuking. Prime example - President Geo W Bush. ;)

  6. Probably not a bad place for a daycare center, but it does seem like an odd place for any other retail. The commercial lot at the intersection of East Paulding and Mt Tabor sees a whole lot more traffic, or anywhere along Dallas-Acworth Hwy. Old Cartersville and Ivey Gulledge generally only have traffic from people who live somewhere along or off of them (except for heading to Waste Transfer and Recycling).

  7. Hats off to Northview Baptist for sharing race proceeds with Abney and Northside elementary schools!

Questions on the road closing: What time does it close? What time will it re-open? And will it be completely closed, or just one lane? (I live off Old C-ville and I have a 9.00a soccer game that I am going to have to figure out how to get to!)

    Thanks!

  8. Some counties require all trash haulers that operate in the county to also pick up recycling with the garbage pick up. That's one solution.

I have also seen the recycling centers co-located with police stations in some counties. There is not actually an attendant, but since it is literally next door, it cuts down on the trash thrown there.

By the way, there used to be lots of recycling bins at the park and ride lot near Kroger at Hwy 61 and Hwy 278. They had to stop that because so many people just dumped their trash there. I would take my recycling and there would be all kinds of stuff there - sofas, tires, etc you name it. The trash that threw their trash there ruined it for the rest of us.

  9. The recycling center itself is fine, and the people there are great. BUT the it is the hours it is open - Mon-Fri until 4.00, and only until 12 noon on Sat. I work, so there goes Mon-Fri. My family's Saturday schedule is ususally crazy, so on the Saturdays I can make it to the recycling center before noon, I have a LOT of recycling.

  10. Dunaways Lake in Lithia Springs is $5 per person, kids 10 and under free. You pay $1.50 per pound for any fish caught. www.dunawayslake.com I think Christian Catfish Hole in the same area is similar in cost.

Best of luck to the folks at Argo Lake - it must be neat to be doing this on land that has been in your family for many years.

  11. I was also excited to see the ad about a new place to fish and take the kids, but it would be $52 if all of my family went.

At that price I would not only expect to be guaranteed to catch fish, I'd want them to hop out of the water already cleaned and fried!!

Maybe they will offer some sort of family pass that would make it more economical for a family to go a few times during a year.

  12. Does anyone have any dates & times & location on Easter Egg Hunts for this weekend?

McEachern United Methodist on Macland Road from 10a to 12 noon. Egg hunt, inflatables, face painting, snacks, and an appearance by the Easter bunny. The egg hunts are divided by age group, starting at 0-35 months up thru 5th grade.

  13. Does anyone know what was going behind Abney Elementary this morning at about 6.40a? Three sheriffs or GSP cars with lights on parked in the turn lane going in the back entrance of Abney. Looked like something going on across the road at Mona Place. Was still dark, hard to tell exactly what was going on as I drove pass, especially with all the blue lights.
