  1. Hmmm...

the article says the league is only three years old -- maybe he should try to find an established league (dizzy dean, pony, even little league) that have might have more (& better) players.

This seems to be another example of holding back anyone who is willing to work to improve themselves.

  2. Once again, I agree that the parents would not trust someone they know is abusing their child.

But, the abusor is not going to bring the abuse to light by turning the child over. They are going to continue the abuse in private.

  3. Including suffering abuse at the hands of someone you thought you could trust?

It's funny. I've read so many times that folks should have licenses to breed, and that no one should have kids unless they can pass a psych eval. I agree with that logic, I really do.

What about the kids that are already here. Should a parent keep a child out of obligation, even if they know it's not best for them? Just because you have them, does that mean you have to keep them til their 18, cause they're "yours"?

Again, I'd much rather see a child walked away from than abused.

Do you really think someone you have "trusted" to take care of your child, who is abusing them -- without your knowledge -- would turn them over to the authorities???

I also do not think any one person should be judge, jury, or executioner of anything. GET THE PROPER AUTHORITIES INVOLVED. You are not defacs -- Call them, call the police if it is to that level. I also know that system isn't perfect, but it is the best there is & is being corrected constantly.

  4. I don't know -- my brain just went to all sorts of nightmares--

Someone you ticked off getting even by giving your child away (I doubt they let you know if your child has been turned over) etc--

I don't know, maybe I'm just too paranoid about things that could happen to a child.

  5. And I'd have to look more closely into the wording of that law. I didn't interpret it as meaning a neighbor or sitter could relinquish the parents rights to the child. Just that they themselves could walk away from the child if he was in their care. I'd have to think that mom or dad could "reclaim" the kid if the sitter flipped out and dropped him off. Better than the sitter flipping out and smooshing his head.

If you read the whole article it specifically states that anyone will be allowed to drop off the child. Here are some quotes from the article:

White said it doesn't matter if that child is an infant or three years old or in the care of a parent or baby sitter. As for what constitutes a minor, he refers to common law, which interprets it to be anyone under age 14.

And since the law does not specify, it technically allows anyone, not just a parent, to legally surrender custody. Most other states narrowly define the role of the person surrendering the child.

  6. NC-17,

I agree that older children should be included -- I just don't think anyone should be able to give them away. If a neighbor, sitter, or whoever sees a reason the child should be taken away, they should start the process -- Not be able to give the child to the state.

  7. Unfortunately, I am so ready for my older 3 to get on the bus tomorrow. ( I really thought I would never say that!!!) I am really concerned about how my baby is going to react to being home alone. I don't think she remembers!! I think I am in for a rough day.

  8. Oh she is adorable and she has a tail instead of a nub. I have a 12 year old Rattie and they are awesome little dogs. They are very smart, clean and fairly low maintenance, except mine likes to drag clothes around to sleep on  . Hope all goes well with the meeting CCCTENLAM, I bet she will be great.

 my 16 month old (human) baby does this too!!

  9. got the email...saving and uploading to photobucket now give me a second

Thank you so much -- can you give lessons??!!!

I already had them on photobucket & couldn't get any farther ( I used to be computer literate!)

  10. Like I said, I am posting this for a friend.

She is becoming a member her name is della leyssius (that is her member name as soon as she gets home & checks her email!!)

Her son got an adorable rat terrier named Sage. She is 14 months old.

Della's son is now working full time & is in school and the puppy has been left alone in a little room for about 14 - 15 hours a day. She now has the puppy, but she has 2 really big dogs that don't like Sage at all.

Yesterday, one of them attacked Sage & Della knows she can't keep her.

She is housebroken, & Della says she will pay for getting the pup spayed (but will probably have it done in the next week)

She is good with kids and seems to be interested in my kittens (until they hiss at her  ).

I have some pictures, I am trying to figure out how to post them but until then I will be happy to email them to you.

For further info please call Della at 678/977-5828

  11. I have a really good friend, we've known each other since 3rd grade, who was a battered wife. I knew it, she knew I knew it, but she wouldn't admit it.

The abusers first step is usually getting rid of family & friends. Then they constantly tell their wives that they are worthless.

If the woman (or man - knew one of those too) doesn't see the light during the first stage, they are pretty much trapped. It is really hard to watch.

This is the saddest story. I can't imagine getting to the point to where I let anybody tell me what to do to that extent. I've been blessed with a great husband who has always encouraged me in everything I've wanted to do. I hope this lady and her children can recover from this horrible situation. And someone need to give this man a 'whippin', literally! LET ME! LET ME!

And he would really be afraid of you!! My friends husband used to shake like a small dog when I came around!!

  12. What I have done in the past is set the ring tone for that # to silent, if they leave a message, don't even listen to it.

You won't have to feel guilty while listening to the phone ring :p

  13. Yes, we replaced it -- :D

did you change just the door or the door and the frame and if you changed out the frame did the wires get pulled apart

My husband tells me that he had to cut the wires to get the sensor out of the frame, but he put them back together with those twisty things (I've heard that is the technical term!!!!)
