  1. Can you believe it? This was to have a "done" stamp on it by now. I'm beginning to think the tunnel project has disrupted progress, but maybe "they" have it ironed out now because there was concrete being poured today. This picture idea is great. Do you think we'll have a parade?

  2. Are You a Yankee or a Rebel?

To find out how much Southern blood your speech shows, simply choose the words you use, then press "Compute My Score!" at the end. The Alpha Dictionary will compute your score and tell you where you're coming from: are you (all) speaking Bubbaese or are you(se) a Yankee Doodle Dandy? The higher your score, the deeper from the South you are coming.

Be sure to post your score!

  3. Mist head and foot boards are now designed for full or queen size bed sets, It sounds like your frame was adjusted for queen not full size. It is an easy fix,

check and see if the hd&ft board have either two slots or two sets of holes on each

post. Slotted holes for hook on rails and ho;es for bolt on rails. Best of luck..

  4. I did check out the religous section on this site but it didnt seem to be too up to date on information anddoesnt seem like too many people post there.  I checked out the unity site and plan to visit there as well.  I am just not sure where mustang drive is?  I looked on mapquest and it looks like it is right before PCHS.  Is that true?

If you are coming from Dallas/Hiram out Hwy 61 toward Villa Rica - it is just past the High School on the left (2 streets down from the PCHS). There is a map on the web site, if that helps.

Please do come and visit with us.

  5. There is a forum on this site for churches and religious information in general - but few people seem to take advantage of the information.

    Try: http://www.paulding.com/forum/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=11

We go to Unity Baptist Church, off Hwy 61, South of PCHS off Mustang Drive. If you don't want to come to the Sunday or Wednesday services as your first meeting come to our revival:

September 18 - 22, 7:00 pm nightly and a special Thursday Morning Service at 11:00 with lunch to follow.

Or visit our web site: http://www.unitychurchdallasga.org

    Everyone is welcome!

  6. In light of SPC Dingler, and the patriotism that was brought out in PC, in support of him and his contributions, as well as to his family, are there other PC residents, who thru the years, gave their lives to our country in other conflicts and wars, ie., WW I & II, Korean, Vietnam, etc.?

As a token of respect and to keep their memories and contributions alive, wouldn't it be nice to have some sort of permanant memorial or maker for them, perhaps in the form of a plaque, statutue, etc., honoring their heroic efforts?

Maybe since the Courthouse area is under reconstruction, maybe locate it / have it there?  Wouldn't have to be expensive or elaborate.  Just a simple token of recognition and appreciation for them.

Likewise, maybe include local residents who were in law enforcement and/or firefighting, that "died in the line of duty," protecting our communities and families.

    Just a thought......

There is a beautiful monument to the Veterans in Downtown Dallas - it is located behind the Administrative Building. It lists all the Veterans lost in wars from Paulding County. The Fastread Page here on pcom pictures the memorial in the story about SPC Dingler (look it up).

There will need to be a way to add Veteran(s) lost in the War on Terror though.

  7. The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! :) B) :)

This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again.

The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification.

Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.

  8. Judicial Draft for the military could be enacted - let Judges determine the dealers, sellers, traffickers, etc that are eligibile for military service. They could learn at lot as Privates in the Army or Marine Corp and dealing with the War on Terrorism.  :ninja:

Hi there everyone! Thanks for the welcome. Andrea where exactly is this 4th of july fireworks in Tallapoosa? I have only been to Tallapoosa once and that was a few years ago when we were house hunting. I saw you live in Waco, Hope you don't live near some mental cases I know on King St.  *shiver*.. whenever I think of them it really makes me think..we really are too close to Alabama. Also.. someone told me there is a park with a lake out there, know anything about that?

We have also been looking for a public pool besides ones in Carroll (they are 4 dollars per adult and 3 for children!)   We went to Sara Babb when we were in Dallas and I don't remember that being as expensive! Geez.

Oh and to clarify something, they aren't our kids.. I'm 23 and my husband is almost 26 (though I know it seems around here everyone has kids by the time they hit 18). It's his little brother and our niece that we would be taking. They are staying with us for the summer. We don't have any kids of our own yet  :)

Hi there and welcome to P.com. If you are in Mt. Zion - you must be really close to where my brother in law lives - Smithfield Road. Anyway, Carroll County used to have a fireworks 4th of July on Lake Carroll - free. And as for swimming, try John Tanner State Park - it's a beach and lake with playground and paddle boats, too. You can picnic, have a cook out, take a walk around the lake or just swim for the price of State Park entrance. And while you there go by the airport and let the kids watch the planes take off and land.
