  1. yes that would work just fine then use a spigot are lowest fixture in the home to drain the remainder of water from the water piping system. Thank you for reading and enjoying it.
  2. Here's a temperature/pressure relief valve off of a water heater that is stuck close with calcium and lime buildup from treated water. It got in this condition by two ways. First being installed pointing straight up which kept the water constantly on the outlet side of the relief valve which is a code violation and secondly the valve was weeping water through the outlet side more than likely because of the house water pressure being to high which in this case was getting close or over 150 psi which should have been no more than 80psi combined with back pressure being caused by the heating of t
  3. During the cold winter months it's important to take preventive action to keep your home's water piping from freezing or you'll be getting wet as well as mad when there's no water. Here's a few quick remainders to help you take that preventive action now or pay a plumber later. 1. Disconnect all water hoses from the outside spigots and add a freeze proof cup on the spigot. These cups are found at any hardware store or turn off the water to the spigots and drain what water is left in them by turning on the spigots and let the water drain out. 2. In the garage insulate exposed water p
  4. Here's another grease clog at the inlet tee where the customer swears they never put grease down the drain but the proof is in the pudding.

  8. Thanks for posting Tony's website information. I checked it out and was disappointed with the limited amount of information there. It is very vague on information and positions. It would seem to me that Tony would make his positions known on the airport, water reservoir, the newly created Enterprise Zones, Economic Development, his thoughts on the industrial building authority, the medical corridor, taxes and other issues so folks could have a chance to get to know him and his positions.

  10. I don't quite understand your comment about tanks over 11 years old only having a smaller clean out. Most tanks poured before the mid to late 1990's had 3 or 4 large slabs of concrete for lids. These were approx. 4'wide x 2' wide. These are quite heavy but we are able to flip them and gain access to the tank and there is plenty of room to pump out the contents of the tank. There are a small number of tanks that do have smaller openings over the inlet and outlet but when that is the case there should be a larger one in the middle of the tank. You are right about additives though. Typical
  11. You could check a couple of other things as well. A 3 bedroom septic system is designed to handle about 8000 gallons of water each month. You can check your water bill and make sure that you are not using over that amount of water. If so, you could check for running toilets or dripping faucets. The other thing to check is make sure that your gutter downspouts do not empty over your drain field lines. Also you want to make sure that there is not any rain water that stands over your field lines. If you have any of these conditions, try to divert the water away from your system. I wish you
  12. This doesn't sound like a job that Skyline did. Usually we don't tell folks that they have 1800 gallon tanks as they don't make one that size. And I don't think this poster stated which company that it was who did the work. There is a product called a Remediator that introduces air into the septic tank, promotes the growth of aerobic bacteria and helps to break down the biomat in the soil. You might check into it. The link to the website is: http://www.aquaworx.com/ . If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call. Chris Skyline Plumbing & Septic 770-443-2445
  13. You might should check with the Health Dept. at 770-443-7877 and see if they have a copy of the plat on file. I have not heard of an 1800 gallon tank before. Most 3 or 4 bedroom houses only have a 1000 gallon tank. The plat from the health dept will tell what size tank that you have. If you want to pour a concrete patio in that area, you could look into installing a risor lid over the tank manway then you could pour the concrete patio but still have access to pump the tank. Just something to think about.
  14. The huge ditch might be coming from the drain field lines settling. You can call the Health Dept at 770-443-7877 and they should be able to get you a plat of where the drain field lines run. If it is settling, you can just fill in the trenches with dirt and it should be fine. If you don't fill in the trenches, rain water may pool over the lines causing the drain field to get saturated.
