  1. The movie was just about as dumb and terribly predictable as movies come. I regret that I paid Comcast $4.99 to view it when it first came out on PPV. Total waste of my time and money.

And if the story presented in the books is the same as the one I watched in the movie--I DON'T NEED TO READ IT to conclude that it's completely juvenile and absolutely STUPID for an adult reader.

However, reading what people have posted here...if it gets kids to read, IT IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK. Kids ought to read. As a teacher of English for a number of years, I could always and easily tell the difference between kids who had read and those who did not. If teenage girls want to read the history of this incredibly DUMB story of the HS misfit who falls for a vampire, hey, I think it's a wonderful thing.

Just don't try to convince me that the books are great literature and that stupid movie should make me write the academy requesting it gets an award.

If the movie represents the book, a clever 8 year-old would have figured out the ending in the first 25 pages.

    As I said before: BLECH.

    :)

Tabby, as an English teacher, I'm sure you've hear the expression, "Don't judge a book by its cover."

Well, in this case, don't judge the book by the movie....I (and many many many other Twilight fans) agree that the movie does no justice to the book.

Also, your tone and the way you describe the book implies that it is horrible and only dumb people would like it. I don't think you can properly give a review of the book until you have read it yourself. :glare:

    Lot's of 'if's in there ;)

Not everything I read has to be as deep as The Shack...sometimes I just enjoy a light read that portrays idealistic hawt men ;)

Call me stupid if you want, but I LOVED each of the books, my favorite being Eclipse.

Twilight the movie left alot to be desired...I am hoping for better acting/directing in New Moon.

  2. around 6:45 this evening, we were coming home from Douglasville, when we got to the intersection with the closed up winn dixie there were a ton of police, fire rescue and an ambulance. They were all around a smallish black car, that had its hood up, but seemed to have been knocked sideways somehow. there were several people sitting on the sidewalk sobbing, and a strecher fully covered up with a blanket... :(

Anyone know anything? I can't get this scene out of my head.

  3. Wanted to bring this back to the top....Rebel is still missing.

The owner of these dogs, is the little girl who was bitten by the copperhead earlier this month. She has had a very rough month, and now she has one dog that has died, and the other is still missing.

Please, if you know anything, have seen anything, let me know. My heart is breaking for her, she is one of my daughter's best friends, and is just the sweetest little girl. She needs to have her dog back home with her... :(

  4. Rebel and Dixie are missing! Rebel is male, Yellow Lab, very friendly! Dixie is a female yellow/blondish lab, also very friendly!

If you have seen either of these two dogs recently, please PM me. They are my neighbor's dogs and they have been missing since Sunday evening/Monday morning.

UPDATE: Dixie has been found dead, hit by a car near Hope Church on 120....

    Rebel is home safe!!

  5. sorry -- didn't mean to offend you by putting his pic on here. I am a very proud military wife and mom. All military deserves respect and honor in my opinion. I will remove his picture.

NO offense, really! But veterens day is to honor those who serve...Memorial Day is a special day set aside for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

  6. hubby and I are both USAF vets....however, Memorial Day is for those who have died while in service to our country,,,like Josh and Ryan. They are the ones who should be honored on Memorial Day.
