  1. I actually live in one of the subdivisions off Brooks-Rackley Road and have seen the "artwork" year after year after year. Spraypainting the road itself, when done at the intersection only, has never bothered me. Granted, the school administrators may have overlooked it for all of these years and it may have been acceptable to them. To my knowledge, no one has ever been caught for spraypainting the intersection only or arrested by the sheriff's office. If anyone had been caught or arrested for spraypainting the intersection, then they should be prepared to face the consequences whatever they m
  2. So, you're saying you've taught your kids NOT to cooperate if they are ever questioned by the police. Isn't this the same as lying????? I don't understand your logic.
  3. He said he was only responsible for spraypainting the road along with a friend, and left when things got out of control. Regardless to what extent his involvement was, he was still party to a crime. He shouldn't be treated any differently than any of the other students who were involved. You play, you get caught, you deal with the consequences and punishment.

Yes, the Valedictorian was arrested. Those arrested were charged with "Interference of Government Property." I don't know what part he/she may have played. If they had kept their spraypainting to the road, and not ventured onto the campus, I don't believe there would have been any arrests made. To my knowledge, there has never been anyone arrested over the past years for spraypainting just the road. I do know that in the past there have been deputies at the school at night when they suspect that students may spraypaint the road. The spraypaint was conviscated and no one was arrested.

Channel 2 news just confirmed with information they received from PCSO that three more students were arrested for a total of 25. (This includes one former student and one student from another district.) Yes, the 17 year olds will be charged as adults. At 17, you are no longer considered to be a juvenile.

I know 2 more were arrested yesterday for a total of 21. From what I've been told, 3 more were arrested today. I know the names don't appear on the site you're referring to. Could they have already been released?

I was referring to Mr. M. He made the comment on the news that the students would be facing school punishment as well. I just learned that three more EPHS students were arrested and the Principal is saying there will be no explusions.

Still, I think they should receive some form of school punishment for their actions. If those involved were not a valedictorian, a football player or a cheerleader, what form of punishment would they have received??

I think if it were up to a certain Assistant Principal, those involved would have already received some form of school punishment. I find it odd that the Principal himself did not speak to the media or voice his displeasure over what happened.

I agree. The school mascot has nothing to do with the behavior of the students who were involved. I might also add that the "Patriots" at Paulding County High School did something very similar several years ago by spraypainting the new performing arts building, and put either diesel fuel or oil on the football field. So, according to Glassdogs, a Patriot is also a criminal.

I understand the road can be considered "government property" since we, as taxpayers, paid for the paving. My point is, there is a difference between spraypainting pavement and defacing school buildings. The spraypaint on the road eventually fades away. School system employees had to go out on Sunday and clean up the mess.

You can't punish someone for spraypainting the road since I don't believe anyone was ever caught in the act. Also, there's a huge difference in spraypainting the pavement versus government property.

For years, the senior classes have always spraypainted the road at the entrance to the high school which may seem harmless to some until someone is struck by a car. The students who were involved this weekend took their senior prank too far when they chose to step onto school property in the middle of the night and tag over a hundred spots on campus. Right or wrong, agree or disagree, destruction of government property is a felony regardless of the ages of the parties involved. Yes, the charges may be reduced to a misdemeanor. Yes, they may all be good kids and students, but they should ha
