  1. My Mom grew up with parents who would not say it EVER. They loved her and her sister, but it was not expressed with words. My dad was the opposite. His Mom (not sure about his Dad) said it ALL the time. Growing up, my Dad said to all of us constantly, but my Mom just couldn't say those words. My Dad was also very affectionate. He loved to hug on us, where my Mom couldn't bring herself to do that either. We always knew it stemmed from the way they were brought up. The only ones I can honestly say she NEVER had a problem saying those words to, were my kids. Me giving her Grandki
  2. That is the plan. I am NOT going to attempt to do that on my own. I can do pretty much anything by myself, but when it comes to cars, . I do actually have a couple of other prospects finally, and one of them is here in Dallas.
  3. It's been a great car, no doubt. Looks like my son will be in it now, once I find another vehicle for me. IF I ever find another vehicle. This is so frustrating. My eyes and brain hurt from all of this searching.
  4. Thank you. I had someone looking for me at an auto auction today. I need to call him and see if he found anything. I probably should go check one out myself too.
  5. I got an instant chat message last year from a pcommers mother, saying she was out of the country and had been robbed and needed me to western union her some money to get home on. Since I was bowling with her the night before I pretty much knew right away it was BS. I called up the pcommer on the phone and told him about it, and he said he had gotten flooded with phone calls from other pcommers/friends telling him the same thing. People will try anything.
  6. So the Focus is gone, the people with the Scion have disappeared, and I have found one scam after another today on Craigslist. I have also been searching on Autotrader.com but haven't found anything that meets the requirements or that I like. Is there ANY other place I should go to search for a vehicle for private sellers? I really don't want to go to a dealer.
  7. The ones I am dealing with aren't so much crazy as they are scammers on Craigslist. I guess they are looking for some crazy nut jobs who might actually fall for their crap. The last one was needing to sell her Murano because it was her husband's, and he was serving our country over in Iraq and was killed 3 months ago. It just brings her bad memories looking at it in the driveway. So she will sell it to me through ebays protection program. She just needs my full name and all of my info so she can open a case. WTH ever!!!
  8. I have all of that info and will be doing that. I am actually afraid this car is gone also. They have not returned my phone call tonight. I spoke to them at 4:30 and told them I would come out after 7 and they were good with that. Now nothing. I guess the search may still be ongoing.
  9. And Anonymoose, a Scion is not that little. It's bigger than my Jeep Liberty.
  10. I had to take my Jeep Liberty in today get an oxygen sensor changed and oil change/tires rotated. I asked them what they thought of these two cars. They said the Scion would be the way they would go. Never have them in there for work on them. I called my credit union on them, and they looked it up on NADA and he said it retails for $10,700. I also got a call while at D & A tire and the Ford Focus was already gone.
  11. Mei Lan, I actually tried to do it on NADA.com this morning and it wouldn't let me. I must have been doing something wrong. NADA is who my credit union goes by. I will try it again. When did they start doing that? I bought one less than a year ago and did not have to do that. Has it changed since then? That is the entire reason I was trying to find one through an individual. Have I mentioned that I hate buying cars?
  12. I have a couple of friends who also have them and really like them. I sure could use the extra room in the Scion though. AACCKK!! I hate this!
  13. Thank you. I really do like that one better. If I can get him down to $6,000 and maybe get him to meet me halfway to look at it and it has been well taken care of, I think that would be my choice. I have called and left him a message.
  14. I have called and can go and look at the Focus this afternoon for sure. I am going to call my credit union and have them look it up to see what the NADA value is before I go out there though.
  15. Oh believe me, nothing will be done without seeing them. Once I see them, it may be a deciding factor just from how well they were taken care of. Until then, I am just researching the cars themselves. Toyotas are great cars, and I would prefer that one. One reason is because of the room in them. I could really use the room for all of my equipment. One of my co-workers bought his grand-daughter a Scion, and did a lot of research on it beforehand. He says it has been a great car, and the reviews are really good. But I am sure the Focus gets better gas mileage. The downfall is that
  16. I have found a 2006 Toyota Scion XB, with 88,000 miles on it for $6,700. I have also found a 2003 Ford Focus ZXB Hatchback with 88,000 miles, for $4,500. From the pictures, they both appear to be in great condition, inside and out from what I can see. I will probably go look at at least one of these this afternoon in person. Opinions please! Just to add, I was hoping not to go over $6,000. If I were to go with the Scion, I am going to see if he would take that. Both of these are automatics.
  17. Thank you everyone. Nitro.... I have found a couple of great manual transmission cars, but neither of us can drive one. I have never attempted to learn though. My son is actually hoping I will find something new for myself and give him my 2005 Jeep Liberty. If I find the right one, I just might do that. And I may just have to learn to drive a manual. Good thing my work has a big parking lot that I can learn in.
  18. My credit union said that if I find a Toyota or Honda, they would be willing to finance it even if it went over the 90,000 miles mark, but not by a lot. Maybe up to 10,000 miles more. He said they feel like those 2 brands last longer than others.
  19. He did. It was just too old of a vehicle for us. Being a 1994, it needed too many things done to it, and I can't afford to keep putting it in the shop for repairs. I sold it on Sunday to someone who is a mechanic and can buy the parts and do any repairs it needs as things happen. Thank you, Pubby. I agree with you. My main goal this past week or so is to find the vehicle with the least amount of miles and in the best condition I can find. This vehicle I was asking about is out. I stopped by my credit union, LGE , on my way home from work this afternoon. Financing is taken c
  20. That is why I am concerned. I was really hoping to find a good Nissan Maxima or something like that, but not having much luck. AACCKK! I hate car shopping.
  21. Thank you. I am going to take someone with me to look at this one tonight. I am not a car person.
  22. I may be going to look at a 2005 Dodge Stratus tonight for my 19 yo son. Pictures look really nice. 130,000 miles on it for $3750. KBB value is $5,375 for excellent condition or $4,850 for good condition. Anyone have any opinions on these vehicles? I don't want to be stuck with a vehicle that has problems with it all the time. Googling reviews, I find several positive ones, and some negative ones.
