  1. Well I am so glad to hear that! I was always taught to stop too. It was in front of Walmart on 278 and I had to blink my brake lights so one guy would see I was completely stopped. He looked to see why I was stopped and I pointed. You'd be surprised how many people ignored it....it bothered me!
  2. I saw this today and most cars stopped but some kept going and the cop actually yelled at them to stop, which I thought was right of him b/c it just respectful for those families and for the dead.
  3. I was a margarita one year and even held an umbrella with flowers glued on it as the "umbrella in the drink"
  4. I am a teacher also, not a McGarity, but in Paulding County. I can't imagine the pain the MES Staff is feeling. As teachers, we spend at lot of time together, so we are a family. You are all in my prayers! Also, her family and friends.
  5. I love looking at the photos/art for sale. Also, HCH is beautiful at Christmas. Helena and her staff decorate it so nicely! Makes you feel good, esp. with a hot chocolate!
  6. What is an address we could send her a card too?
  7. WOW.....I just got chills again reading this. All I can see in my mind, over and over, is him trying to lift the hood, as I was about to say do you need help, and then I heard the "DING." It will be a while before I cross those tracks again. I just started panicing!!!! GET OFF and he did, and as soon as he did, it hit. I can still see. I am so glad your dad is ok. He is probably still in shock, but I think I was the last car to come around him before this all happened. God was watching over him and all of us seeing this from the road. WOW!!!!
  8. A train hit a truck at downtown Hiram around that time. I saw the whole thing. See post. No one was hurt!
  9. Yes, its very bad. I was so upset because I have never witnessed a wreck. Never thought I'd see that.
  10. I just witnessed the whole thing and I am still shaking. I was going to the Hiram Coffee House for a quick coffee and as I turned to go down the hill, there was a truck stalled on the tracks. The driver (man) was getting out to check under the hood. He motioned for me to go around, so as I got around him I parked right in front of the coffee house. At that moment as was about to ask him if he needed help and the ding started to warn you for a train. I started screaming for the man to get off the tracks. People ran out and were going to help him push it but the train was too fast.
  11. WONDERFUL!!! I go 2-3 times a week or try too!
  12. Hiram Coffee House is fabulous! Its such a quaint and relaxing place! The Chicken Salad is wonderful. Helena and her staff are great and make you feel so welcome. May I suggest the Mocha Bianca for a hot drink and a Mochachinno for a cold drink. Yes I go alot!
