  1. I did some a while back as gifts but after debating it and research it wasnt worth trying to get rich off of. I also made a wreath with a hanger, search on google and you will find directions for the wreath.

They sale from $60-150 online at various places but I ask on here a while back and everyone said they would rather make one themselves than pay twice as much for it.

Fair enough. I really enjoyed the craft aspect all the same.

  2. Last week while preparing for a baby shower, I made a friend @ work a diaper cake. I love making these cute little crafts. Apparently, the mom to be loves it so much, she won't take it apart.

I'm sure flattered, but now I'm being approached by folks looking for a useful and creative centerpiece for other baby showers and new parent gifts alike. I don't have any pictures yet, but I'll get some this week.

Just wondering, if anyone here was interested in such a "confection" what would you expect to pay for a diaper cake? And, *if* you were looking for such a thing, where would you look to find one? Keep in mind, each of these gifts is handmade.

  3. Did they offer you a rock-bottom price so that they could turn around and resell the house at a higher price and make a nice profit?

No, much to my surprise, they didn't. It's a lease/purchase "offer" where their company wants to basically sub-lease the home between 1-3 years and at minimum, I get my asking price @ the time the house is actually sold to the tenant. This would probably fall into the category of "too good to be true" because it's not in the category of "insulting offer".

  4. I listed my home with BuyOwner and within days received an offer from an "investment" company, Way Home Investments. What I have found online about them is less than appealing. Has anyone everheard of the company based out of Orlando and run by a Helen Joanne Pearce?

    This could get interesting.

  5. You admitted yourself that you had a little attitude with the Deputy. It may've been that attitude that caused him to citate you instead of issuing a warning.

I doubt it. He had the citation on the clip board from the word go. Just my luck I guess.

  6. Nope no law at all. It is up to the officer if he writes the ticket. I give more warnings than I do tickets. I feel it is my job to educate a violator in the law he/she has broken and if I think get my point across without a citation it’s all good. My pay stays the same if I write 1 or 1000 tickets a month. I stated in another thread that certain officers have “pet peeves” that they will always write you on. Some of theirs may be window tint; I will stop and warn on that but rarely write for it. NOW if I stop you for changing lanes without a signal you WILL get a ticket from me on that one but another officer may let you go with a warning. Fail to signal lane change and have illegal tint = one citation and one warning. NOW fail to signal lane change while on the cell phone and have illegal tint = 2 citations. :D

Finally, something I can smile about. :) Until this mishap, I haven't had a ticket since I was a reckless teen. I *always* signal when I change lanes, so I guess we'll just have to be aquinted via pcom. No hard feelings.

  7. I have stopped more than a few cars with dark windows and found every thing from rolling meth labs, large amounts of drugs, money, dead folks. On one occasion one of my officers stopped a car with tinted windows and discovered a subject of an amber alert. There is more than meets the eye here. Most criminal activity involves some form of transportation and traffic enforcement often yields other fruit during a traffic contact.

Well that makes me feel better anyway. I've read time and time again that this is the case - lowlife's are everywhere.

But, then again, I'm not a criminal, wasn't "doing" anything but driving home - legally - so why not a warning? Is the window tint a zero tolerance item? You're an officer.. is there some law in GA that if you're blue lights go on, you must write a ticket? Just curious - and still a little ticked.

  8.

    CMM...You know I adore you!!!...Right? :D

If it helps you any... I will ask hubby about his Tint-Meter when he gets home. I know it cant be any lower than 32%.

Thank you thank you thank you. I really do want to understand these things better. I went back to the installer and was got my receipt for replacement tint that meets the state requirements. Also, the law gives up to -3 off 32 (or up to 29%) so I just know I have to be legal, but got it replaced all the same.

BTW, I am respectful of law enforcement officers, but know that I was being a tad bit rude on this day. Mr. Monster was diagnosed w/ a large spine tumor the day b4 and I was scared out of my mind. Surgery went well and he's recovering, but we still do not have a confirmation on what the tumor is (benign or malignant).

  9. <_<

    Pfft!!!

My Hubby puts his life on the line EVERYDAY to protect and serve people like you!

    :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Qtee, don't get all personal about it. If the mailman brought this (southern chickie) person mail that belonged to the neighbor, they would say "stupid mailman". In fact, it took me until today to realize that it said po-po, not stupid poo-poo. Cookiemonster is now 4 and all I ever think of is him saying poo-poo.. it's a boy thing I guess. Anyway, stupid poo-poo didn't sound like much of an insult, so if it makes you feel better, think of it that way. Don't let them get to you. It's not worth the energy.

  10. Sorry, but the tint meter uses its own light source. The ambient light has no bearing on the VLT reading of the meter. You are right to an extent on the exemption but you must read the complete statute. O.C.G.A. § 40-8-73.1 C- 6-A. so if he got you on the tint on the driver or passenger side window you will not fall under the exemption. The weather box is not going to have any bearing on this case. Under Georgia law the fact that the officer enters wrong check box data is not a defense

"the tint meter uses its own light source"

    Thank you.

Well, now I have a lot more information on the tint meter than I had before. Are you with the Paulding Sheriff's office? If so, what brand, make and model of meter are y'all using?

  11. Archive ajc.com for the weather that day and try and get a copy sent to you before your court date. Due to the fact the officer filled so much of the ticket incorrectly I would fight this and try to have as much to cover your arguement as possible. Good luck in court.

Sure did. On July 4th, I printed the weather channels previous day weather. I've got that, my insurance papers, the receipt for the tint, etc, etc. What a pain in my butt that I have to take a whole day to go down to the court house and make a point.

To Number Cruncher - Don't assume everyone is on the up and up, but don't assume everyone is a reckless law breaker either. Afterall, at the end of your spouses shift, we are still neighbors (in Paulding Co. anyway).

  12. Nope, to me it just screams, "walk on over to my car and let me shoot you from the back seat while I least expect it."

what do I know though, I'm married to the "stupid po-po".....

Bless you. Don't take it personally. As spouses we hope that our loved ones will do the job that they are hired to do. Hopefully, your's can fill out a ticket correctly.

It's no little thing that these men and women are out there everyday in an age where wearing a uniform is almost like donning a target. Seriously though, what about a station wagon screams "I'm gonna shoot you". Plus, I'm all of 5 ft tall and not a big girl. Public enemy - exhibit A. I don't think so.

  13. July 3rd, late afternoon. I was pulled over by Paulding's finest and given a ticket for the tint on my wagon. The officer would not give me the information on the meter that he used to measure the light visability through the window *plus* he was using this meter on a very cloudy day.

It really burns me that he then listed the weather conditions as being clear instead of marking the box that says cloudy. As a matter of fact, he also listed the tint on the rear of the car and the windshield (first 6 inches @ top) as being part of the citation.

The law which he cited, O.C.G.A. § 40-8-73.1 , states that a multipurpose passenger vehicle is allowed to have the kind of tint I have due to the vehicle being one type that is excluded. Now, I don't know about everybody else, but my insurance recognizes my wagon as being a VAN body style and because of this, I beleive it to be a multipurpose passenger vehicle.

Anyway, we'll see what the court says about it.

  14. It's about time!

I think it's great that we are going to have so many diverse princesses. All little girls deserve the chance to feel like a princess and for the young ones, having someone that looks like you does a lot to help one's imagination play out that role.

Plus, I like darn near any princess movie I can get to watch. My 2 boys aren't exactly supportive of me watching princess movies :D

  15. I finally got home and got settled and just had a chance to turn on my computer. We went to the doctor and he said she is exactly the same, which is good I guess. He said she still had the hole but her heart hadn't enlarged anymore than last time which he said was good. BUT, we have to go back in a year and have it checked one more time, he said since her heart hadn't changed and she looked and acted great and had no health problems he wanted to wait one more year before putting through the surgery. So, just keep us in your thoughts and prayers over the next year that she wont have to have any surgery, I am just glad it hadn't gotten worse. Thank you all again for your prayers and positive thoughts, it really does help when your mind starts going crazy with the "what if's". Just wanted to update everyone! :)

I'm so glad to hear the positive news! My youngest had a hole in his heart at birth. We also saw a Dr. @ Sibley and went through the exam/EKG etc. It's nerve racking as a parent to see your little ones with all of the medical equipment and concerned looks. Seth was 2 months old when diagnosed and @ 1 year he was given a clean bill of health. Keep saying your prayers and all will be good.

When Seth had his first dental exam, just after a year, the Dr. wanted a note from the pediatrician about Seth's heart. Just mention it to the receptionist when you make your little one's appointments. Having a heart defect can require some special precautions.

  16. I've still got some stuff left from when the Cookiemoster was itty bitty. A baby monitor, some room linens, a lamp, a wall mirror (Moon& Stars theme) etc. Maybe Myrlin could PM me her wants and needs and I can see what I can provide.

I don't know ya, 'cept for your cyberpersonality :D but you are my neighbor and I would love to give away this stuff to someone who could use it and enjoy it.

  17. The Cookie Monster himself was a boob man and in many ways, still is. We had to revamp the nightly routing and some aspects haven't changed in the last 4 years. We used to do bath, boob and bed until about 1 year of age.

When weaning time arrived (more so for my personal freedom than his choice) Cookie Monster's Dad had to jump in on the nightly routine and I provided a hug and kiss to likke Cookie, but no more nursing.

2 great things happened. Cookie Monsters Dad got better aquianted to his infant son which up to that point he had been very adoring of, but probably felt a little pushed aside in the cuddling and loving department. I was able to reconnect with my older child at bedtime and the older sibling relationship improved towards his younger brother because he felt like he got "his" mommie back ;) Well, he never lost me, but how was he supposed to know that.

  18. First year after we moved in, the payment went up by $10.00 per mo. The second year, we got a payout from the leftyover in escrow and our payment dropped by $40.00 per mo. This year, escrow was $75.00 short and our payment went up $6.00 per month. It's all the funny math

  19. Another one here that uses PAMPA.

I've taken my 10 yr old there for 5 years. We attended Cobb Pediatrics for the 1st 5 years of his life, but I never got the warm fuzzies, in fact, being a teen mom, I commonly got the cold shoulder. Besides the not so warm fuzzies, @ Cobb my long list of valid concerns for my child were not taken seriously. Anyway, PAMPA - Dr. King - took my concerns seriously and put us onto the right path to get help. Dr. T has been my youngest child's pediatrician since birth and is wonderful also.

They also have a website you can check out. Just google PAMPA in Marietta, GA. Yeah, it's a drive BUT when my oldest was hospitalized for 10 days @ CHOA @ Egleston I never had to worry about not knowing the Dr's coming to check on him. One from the PAMPA office was there every morning and they are even more warm and understanding when @ the hospital bedside.

  20. We may bicker with each other, but we can come together to help a person that is in need.
