  1. We went last April.. and again in June.. both times we stayed at Excalibur and loved it.

But there are so many cool places, you really can't go wrong.

We have talked about staying at The Venetian when we go back... but it depends on if we have the kids or not.

If we do, we might stay at New York, New York.

  2. So is everyone going to run because of these thugs,do what we did when they attacked the band bus. The parents united and went with the band on future trips. You can't allow these punks to take so much as a foot hold in our school.

There is a difference between going on the bus.. and the kids going into school where we are "not allowed".

If it is true about "their hall"... this is a bunch of crap.

  3. It's looking more and more likes it's time to get out of this place.

For the BOC, when is the time to say when in regards to home building?

Roads already aren't great, schools are overcrowded and there is basically no industry here.

I will miss the dragstrip, too.

  4. I guess "we all" don't know who you mean because I don't. Please enlighten me....who is "they?"

I would think that "they" were all of the kids whose parents don't care where they are or what they're doing.

  5. I have a girl.

If this happened to her.... the first time I would visit the school so they knew what had happened.

If there was a second time I would demand action...

If they didn't take action or if there was a third time... I'd have the boy dealt with.

On the flip side, I have three boys.

    They know better.

And if they "forgot"... they would have a swift and painful reminder.

Charging the kid with sexual assault seems a bit much, but if he does indeed have a history.... then so be it.

  6. ...

Like he's interested in what we do in our daily lives. If we're not doing anything wrong, then we shouldn't really care as long as it helps stop some terrorist attempt.

On the surface of it, I say the same thing.

    However....

My business is my business and nobody elses.

If we didn't want privacy, we could save the stamp and post our letters in an open forum for all to see.

But I still have not seen the new law in question, only the interpretations from reporters.

  7. Great scenario. You're 100% correct. There would be a reasonable suspicion & the Constitution would allow that probable cause hearing & a judge would grant a warrant.

But, in case you didn't read it too clearly, what Bush signed didn't say that, now did it? It gave gov't the right to go through your mail for =whatever= reason it decides is an "emergency." Now please tell me where the safeguards are in that? What proceedures are in place so that some policeman who happens to be ticked off at you doesn't have a friend at the FBI go through your mail? Where are the safeguards? What guarantees do we have that there is a genuine need?

You scenario is not a problem but the signing legislation Bush gave wasn't needed to cover the scenario you described as that is already in place. The problem is that now there are no safeguards, no part of gov't specifically charged with making sure the other parts are not overstepping the bounds.

I see the news story.. again... but no link to the actual law.

So all that I am left with is the interpretation and paraphrasing of a reporter.

If it is exactly the way it is reported, then it is wrong.

But I would really like to see the law, not a person's report.

  8. My 4th Amendment right is in the Constitution. Or do you simply pick & choose which parts you want & not want?

Amendment IV The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

    How have you lost this?

    How has America lost this?

It spells out that your right is secure against unreasonable searches and seizures.

If someone is acting suspicious, is a foreign national of a country on the watch list and is getting odd mail from another person in a country on the watchlist.... I don't see it as unreasonable that his mail be searched.

But then you probably think profiling is wrong, too.

  9. Anyone willing to blindly accept events without a thorough investigation has no credibility or common sense. Bush fought a 9/11 commission before he flip flopped for it. There was no testimony under oath as usual and there are more holes in the events than in a ton of swiss cheese. Ignorance is bliss carry on...

    Ignorance is bliss...

    You must be so happy.

According to liberals, Bush looked like a deer caught in the headlights when word came to him of what happened.

Yet he must have had something to do with it.

Four planes, from three airports..... nineteen terrorists, numerous airline passeger phone calls.... four intended targets in two different cities....

And you think it was a big plan by our own govt. that has remained a secret from everyone except for crackpots.

And the govt. did this for... what?.... oil?

  10. Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

    -- Ben Franklin

    Yet another mis-used quote.

Define essential liberty and then tell us what essential liberties you are giving up.

After you do that.. how about explaining temporary safety.

Because I believe one of your problems is that you still don't get it.

This isn't about anything temporary... temporary is what liberals do.

This is about America being victorious over those who seek our downfall.

And whatever the outcome, it will not be temporary.
