  1. November 2007?

Melise, you have missed the whole point of what I was explaining.

We don't need more "clubs" or any more "lip-service" or the hosting of "special events" to call attention to this problem!

You call attention to it every month with the statistics, but you/us need to go further. We need to go to State Government, and there needs to be a lobby to pass laws to hold people accountable and prevent the cardboard boxes in front of Wal-Mart. or the "Free Puppies/Kittens" ads run on this site, not this drivel from 2007!

Once upon a time, I thought all we needed was a bigger shelter, but all a bigger shelter would accomplish would be to house MORE unwanted animals!

EVERY month people read about the animals who are being brought to the shelter to die if they do not get adopted, and yes, it is sad.

But sadder still is the fact that something can be done - needs to be done and ASAP, and all most people want to do is have a meeting and eat rubber chicken.

    My suggestion stands:

Form a cohesive network of animal shelters facing the same problem as PCAS/PHS and go to work on state legislators, giving them something to work with, which will be acceptable or let the whole thing go: keep begging for people to spay, neuter and adopt, and keep on doing the same thing ad nauseam.

Don't ask "What Is It Going To Take?" , when the answer is screaming right into your face.

    For the animals.

    Always.

  2. As long as spay/neuter is voluntary, nothing's going to change and it's only going to get worse.

    Education hasn't worked.

Free pick up/delivery and free surgeries haven't worked.

Taking them up north is just a band-aid.....

The only thing that will work is holding people accountable, and the only way to do that is with state-mandated laws.

Just what we need: More "Big Brother" in our lives.

And we're just at the beginning of Summer.....

Additionally, since this is probably going to happen sooner rather than later (the laws, I mean), if local animal welfare advocates want any "say", in how those laws are written and what is contained within them, then now would be the time to form a state-wide advisory panel and connect with the law-makers who will be introducing the legislation.

Otherwise, we deserve what they hand down.

Having searched the web for any evidence that such a "think-tank" already exists, all I found is all we are doing in our state is running headlong into walls with our good intentions.

    That, clearly, isn't enough.

That is what it's "going to take".

  3. This is the same sheriff that refused to investigate Pauling schools for losing my 5 year child for 3 hours and not calling police to help find the chilld, 4 reports of his teacher feeding him peanuts which he is highly alergic to. Then teacher left him on the playground, as the rest of his class went inside. My son could have been hurt or died in the care of paulding county school system. and to make it worse my wife was a school teacher at that time in cobb. you should see the police report it is apiece of trash. Deputy put in report that wife said the people that had my son had promission to have him. First, these people we don't get along with, and 2 weaks prior to this they almost burt down my house twice. Deputy should have check past reports before writing lie like that. Trust me they never had promission. 2. School policy is that if a child 5 years of age they can only be drop off to parent. and still no answer was giving why they did call police as soon they knew this child was missing

4 mounths ago I can with inches from hitting a fully load school bus in my lane head on. Called sheriffs office to report, deputy came and he did not see it he was not taking a report. I called 911 back and asked why no report, she said I would need to talk to Sheriff Harris. As many people do I have no respect for him at all.
