  1. The Earth is 4.5 billion years old. To insinuate that because a scientist's claim is even 50 years off the mark it is untrue is akin to insinuating that someone arriving to your house .00000001 seconds later than they said they'd be is somehow not a punctual person.

I mean these scientists are able to recreate the effects of carbon emissions on the atmosphere in a lab environment...and yet folks deny its existence. And yet something like the rapture, something based 100% on myth and completely unable to pass any scientific test, is somehow believable.

There's an ulterior motive in place and I'm not sure where it comes from.....does the acceptance of man-made climate change somehow conflict with heartfelt religious views, is it a political thing, is it a matter of not trusting the scientific method, is it simple brainwashing accomplished by corporate interests? I mean there has to be a reason that one would choose to be so blind to a life/death issue that is staring them in the face. It's like pretending that an 8ft grizzly isn't standing 3ft away from you while you poke her cub with a stick.

They cannot accurately recreate the past with their models, so why should we believe that they can accurately predict the future? The hockey stick graph that is still to this day being paraded around by the warmists like a captured enemy soldier's head is an admitted fraud. (excuse me, admitted "mistake" so that Mann could keep his job) I taught engineering research, prototyping, and proof of concept as a TA in the ESM Department at Georgia Tech many moons ago, and I assure you that when you start out with a foregone conclusion (man is causing global warming) and try to prove it, you will certainly find or unintentionally fabricate evidence in your favor. You will often confuse correlation with causation. You will ignore and suppress all evidence to the contrary as an "anomaly" or as being influenced by unknown outside factors. You will design experiments to prove your theory, build assumptions into those experiments, estimate data, and justify it all as surrogacy for the sake of expediency. You will criticize and ridicule all competing scientific research. I can also assure you that this is not the Scientific Method. From my experience, when government is involved intimately in science, the problems of government creep into the science. People point to the Manhattan Project and NASA as examples of Government Science at it's best. In those cases, Government did not guide the science and did not campaign for any single solution. It is also interesting to note that after the Apollo program, when NASA was becoming a branch of government and not a research facility, we had bureaucratic problems creep in that led to the deaths of 14 brave men and women.

I tell you what though, lets assume for just one brief second that they are 100% correct (they are not) and that man's CO2 contributes to global warming exactly as the warmists claim. Lets use their own math on the subject. Proposed solutions (Kyoto and Waxman Markey) would lower the global temperatures by eight one hundredths of one degree by 2050. That amount is totally insignificant. It is in fact immeasurable. For this we would give up significant portions of our economy to global carbon managers and remove trillions of dollars of productivity from the world GDP. In this case, there is no money in proving that global warming climate change is cyclical and materially unaffected by the actions of mankind, but there are literally billions of dollars annually in AGW.

  2. Mattie's Call issued for elderly Powder Springs woman with dementia.

Be on the lookout for an elderly black female 5'-7", 170 lbs with grey hair. She was last seen Saturday night at her home In the Defore's Farm Subdivision off of Hill Road between the intersections of Cleburne Parkway (AKA County Line Rd.) and Hiram Lithia Springs Rd. She has dementia and other health problems.

  3. You know, I don't mind the 7th Day Adventists and others coming to the door to tell me about their savior. I can be polite and say "no thank you" and go about my business as I see fit, while they have done what they see as their duty to their God. It's a win-win. What I absolutely can not abide is some holier than thou, indignantly self righteous politician using the legislative power of his office to forcefully restrict my individual rights in an effort to buy votes.

I can tell you, if my soul ever needed "saved" I don't believe that Mr. Heath would be my first stop.

  4. Isn't today cross-over day? That was close.

Is this why Bill Heath is crying? :ninja: He has said that that $3 million in additional sales tax revenue is of no real consequence to him. I am constantly amazed by some so called fiscal conservative who put forcing their religious beliefs (or those of whom they suppose to be the majority of their core voting block) above the overall good of the public. It will not likely increase the number of children in broken homes or the number of beaten wives, because the true drunks in the state already know to buy beer on Saturday night and to buy their wife-beater t-shirts at Walmart.

It will not statistically increase the number of DUI's over and above the increase in overall automobile traffic due to the increased number of stores being open. They could be McDonalds instead of liquor stores for that matter. Sonny's New Mexico study has long since been debunked as flawed.

  5. CFL's save money but they are not a good choice for all locations. Locations where use is intermittent and for a short duration such as hallways and stairwells, or some exterior uses are not recommended. The government just doesn't know when to butt out. Any technology that is superior to the old technology will dominate on it's own without government intervention. Did the government take away your Betamax or your tube type TV's? There is no need for the Government to take away your incandescent bulbs or to pay the CFL manufacturers a subsidy. It's pure statism and crony capitalism.

  6. Just tune in with 3 to go and see the finish. This 2x2 is bullcheese. All the announcers can do is repeat the same stuff over and over about this 2x2 drafting.

Yup. Hate the square dance, but congrats Treavor Bayne. He seems like a good kid, and it's great to see the Wood Bros back in victory lane.

  7. IMHO Nascar should get rid of "plate" racing, it is not racing, it is purely luck, you can run at the back of the pack for 450 miles or so, then find a friendly drafting partner and possibly end up being near the front of the pack when mile #500 comes up.

Where if at any other venue "where there are no restictor plates" the team with the best equipment will be at the top when the checker flag waves.

That 2 by 2 square dance is the most bizarre thing I have ever seen. The drivers may like it but it sux to watch.

  8. Because his qualifying position was set because he won the pole. The first two spots are locked in.

He does not get another change in the duels just because he wrecked his car.

I understand that is the rule. My point is isn't that rule putative? Everybody else gets another chance to qualify in the duels. Isn't junior effectively being punished for winning? Shouldn't he be given the opportunity to qualify his second car just like everyone else? This is allowed in other forms of racing with multiple qualifying sessions.

It makes sense when there is just one qualifying run, but not at Daytona if a front row car wrecks before the duels. JMHO

  9. Ok, I understand the concept of having to go to the back of the pack if you wreck the car you qualified in. In most races there is only one shot at qualifying. It makes sense. But.... Junior won the pole and then wrecked that car before the duels. His 13th place finish in that backup car in Duel 1 should have netted him the 26th spot on the grid. Isn't his last place start in the 500 the equivalent of punishing him for winning the pole since he would start 26th otherwise?

  10. Republicans in the GA Senate MAY OR they may not, would be a far more accurate statement.

"When we have issues where there appears to be some contention, we would like to have a full caucus discussion and debate among all of our members before we proceed forward to the floor." - Senate Majority leader Chip Rogers.

It looks like it has the votes although it is very close, and if it does, it will go to the floor. There are some Republican Senators from South Georgia, where voters oppose Sunday Sales 63% to 31%, who fear having to run against a Christian Coalition opponent in the next primary, although, according to Matt Towery of Insider Advantage, this is a mostly unfounded fear, particularly for established Senators.

We should get the word tonight.

  11. and this is what our "wonderful" President has to say...

President Obama projects that the gross federal debt will top $15 trillion this year, officially equalling the size of the entire U.S. economy, and will jump to nearly $21 trillion in five years’ time.

rest of the report here.... http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/feb/14/debt-now-equals-total-us-economy/

    Ain't he grand?<_<

....and his new proposed budget would raise the debt by $7 Trillion over the next 10 years. In fact he proposes to spend more than we take in for each and every one of those ten years. To say he doesn't get it is an understatement.

Oh, and Zoo. Thanks for the update. I don't know what we would do without you.

  12. I would be quite surprised if this turns tragically violent. Mubarak has no leg to stand on and little support from any corner of the country save his few cronies his corruption has supported. His "police force" is no match for the military, which is clearly on the side of the protesters. The military will decide the immediate outcome whether they want to or not, and barring complete lunacy from Mubarak, all signs point to a negotiated transfer of power from Mubarak, through the military council, and to free elections. I really hope that is the outcome.

  13. I guess possibly the same reason the county is spending so much time and money on the case - I suppose the county and their legal counsel feel strongly enough about the case and their position in the case, thus the reason for expending the money to defend the case.

In the end, I just want the party that has been wronged to win. But I won't be basing my opinion on what I "hear" on paulding.com or any other message forum - if I want to know badly enough, I will simply attend when the trial begins and get ALL the facts from BOTH sides. We should always remember there are two sides to every story and we are only hearing ONE side here.

Just a small point. The county has been spending our money to keep the suit out of court, not to establish their innocence. That doesn't sound like someone who is confident in a win to me. That is of course unless they just want to give our money to the attorneys for the County anyway. That would be another reason to drag out the process.

  14. Pip, I'm just adding my condolences. I'm completely fed up with this situation, and like you I'm lost as to what to do. I would have hoped that the situation would have changed after the new board took office.

And Zoo, you know full well what is going on and your attempt to paint corruption as a "Republican" problem is completely transparent and uncalled for in this thread. Everybody is aware of the party affiliation of the board, thank you for your concern.
