  1. Sounds a lot like my Step Daughter's Mother (We also have custody). Mom is a nut, doesn't pay child support, has been arrested for violating a TPO (That turned into a Perm. Stalking Order against her) and went to jail for then violating Parole (She bit a Cop's finger off in 2006). We have had full custody for 3 years now, but Mom is taking us back to court for full custody. Almost 34,000 later we will once again win full custody. She only pays Child Support when threatened with Jail, and has figured out how long she can draw it out. She knows the game and it only hurts her Daughter. Thank Goodness that we make enough Money to support her and my other 2 Children just fine!

Forget medical costs, she owes $2000.00 on that, and Child Support won't go after her for that. She is remarried, and won't work. She scams people for $ (Ripped a 97 year old man off 90,000 and owes it back to him through a civil case his Family filed and won against her). If she worked we and the old Man could garnish her.

At least the Dallas PD won't come to our house anymore (she would call them every few days to come to our house for made up reasons).

My poor Step Daughter is only 9, and Mommy tells her everything. The last few times she went to jail (For Violating the TPO and then her Parole) she told her that I, her Step Mother, put Mommy in jail so that someone would kill her.

My Husband has been taking her to West Ridge Church on Monday nights (Hope Program). It is 40.00 an hour, but I'm not happy with how they are helping her (or are not helping her) cope.

Long story short, my DH went to court on Jan. 7th becuase of child support NOT that he owes, but that the mother (non-custodial parent) owes to him. (my husband has custody) OK so she is supposed to pay $50.00 a week. So court is because the balance owed is $1,664.50 this is not unusual as there has never been a voluntary payment made. We go to court about once a year because that is how long it takes for CSE to get through the process. Also the NCP has a job that wages can not be deducted from and makes money when she wants to work.

So at court the judge and the case worker came to an agreement that the NCP would pay $1464.00 by 5:00 on Monday January 12th. (FYI she was served to appear in court in September so she knew she would have to pay) If the monies due is not paid by 5:00 then the receivers office is to issue a warrant for her arrest. So Monday comes and the NCP pays $520.00 of the owed monies and then the receivers office agrees to hold off on the warrant until Friday the 16th. Come Friday the NCP brings in $200.00 more leaving $744.00 still due. Again the receivers office grants her an extention until Tuesday, Jan. 20th since Monday was a holiday.

Okay here is where as a step parent and a custodial parent it gets upsetting. As a parent with a child being between to families I know it is very difficult for my step daughter to understand anything going on and we (my husband and I) NEVER inform her of child support issues as she is only 12 years old and this is nothing that she needs to know or worry about!!! So when she came home from her biological mothers house on Sunday night and asked her dad why he is going to put her mom in jail for child support we were shocked that she would have been told this. It was a horrible night, she (our daughter) cried for hours because her mom told her she would never see her again unless she got her dad to drop the court order. My husband tried to explain to her that the judge made the decision not him. Of coarse she does not understand that. My step daughter was histerical all night. She woke up the next day (thank God she did not have to go to school due to MLK Day) with her eye lids swollen she looked awful!

Anyways this is just the icing on the cake of stuff that her mom has done. So we are looking for a counsler for her to talk to, someone that she can not feel will be choosing sides. My step daughter says she does not know who to believe when it comes to her mom. We only talk to her about stuff conserning her mom when she says things are bothering her. At 12 years old she it is hard enough to just be a kid! Sorry about this being so long! Please any advise would be great! Any suggestions for a counsler would be great. Thanks!

    **Edited to say***

BTW she came up with the money and did not go to jail

  2. We (Family of five) went there last March. Ordered and then the Tornado sirens went off, and we got the food to go. I ate when we got home, and got so sick..(And I was on call and had to drive into Buckhead for an emergency!)... We refuse to go back! Eww!

  3. I'm on dinner # 31 now and I'll post recipes and costs when I'm done. OMG. I want to be done in my kitchen, but this is well worth it since I work in Buckhead and am so tired when I get home (wake up at 5 am, home by 7pm) to cook for my 3 Kids!

  4. I'm on meal # 22 right now. It took forever to shop off the list yesterday. I had to come home to make sure I was here to grab my 8 year old off of the bus, and then I headed back to the store. I've been cooking since 5 last night lol....BUT, it will be nice to just pop a precooked meal in the oven and NOT have to cook all month!

  5. <_< mine only cooks hamburger helper and grilled cheese...so needless to say he doesn't cook much

Mine just cooks WENDYS or Sal's PIZZA! :angry2: My 10 year old full time Step Daughter had to teach him to cook Mac and Cheese when I went to the airport to pick up my Boys last week!

I've been trying to save $ and kept reading about Once a Month Cooking. You buy in bulk and cook one day for enough meals for a month. I think I have all my recipes but I'm hoping for last minute advice! My DH and I spend 40-80 a night stopping at Kroger or 20+ plus on fast food for our Kids..it has been getting out of control! I'm off tomorrow and plan on trying to cook for a month (or at least 2 weks!)!!!!!

I like savingdinner.com. You get to pick your menu depending on what's important to you, and the shopping list prints with the menu which cuts down time. Best thing I learned was how to make meatloaf in a freezer bag so there was no mess, and how to storee your food in flat freezer bags to save space and cut down on defrost time. And they have some really YUMMY recipes!

    Thanks! I'm looking now!

  6. Does anyone do once a month cooking (Or maybe 2 weeks)? I'm starting tomorrow and wondering the best places to buy in bulk or any other advice or recipes?

I'm starting tomorrow and hoping I can handle taking it on!

    Thanks :-)

  7. Atlanta Driver's Moon Roof Shatters During Drive-Through Car Wash

    Thursday, January 15, 2009 – updated: 6:54 pm EST January 15, 2009

ATLANTA -- Phyllis Bryant is driving a loaner vehicle because her 2001 Volvo S 8O sedan is sitting at the dealership. Bryant said the moon roof shattered on her vehicle as she went through the AutoBuffs Express Carwash in Douglasville.

"I ran it through the car wash, and as I was sitting there, I heard a loud explosion," said Bryant. Bryant said tempered glass fell all around her and the car seat.

Rest of story here (which basically says this isn't the fault of the car wash, but rather of Volvo):

My 2007 Volvo has been a NIGHTMARE! It has been in the shop almost 6 months since I bought it in late 06! I don't have much left to pay on it, and cannot wait to hand it down to my teenager or Husband and buy a new LEXUS! The new Volvos are LEMONS! Recalls, tons of issues since FORD started making them!!! (I didn't know Ford merged with Volvo until I bought a LEMON!) I wouldn't doubt sunroofs are exploding!

  8. 11-11:30 am two officers spent about 20 minutes inside a home, neighbors were outside but got no info. both officers have left - no one could see if anyone else was with them.

LOL! We had the police at our new house a few times a week for months thanks to my StepDaughter's Mother (She is a nut and would make up things for them to come out to our house!) They finally figured out she is a nut and won't come when she calls. I wonder what our neighbors think/ Thought!

  9. For your marriage license- Go to the Probate court house (The one behind the square) head through security and the office is on the 1st floor. You will need cash..that is all they take, they have an ATM on the 2nd floor. It is 15.00 if you did pre-marital or 50.00 if you didn't. Driver's License and Birth Cert are needed. If you have been divorded or widowed in the last 6 months, you need your paper work. No blood work!

You can fill out the form and bring it with you before you go.

Homesteads are done on the 2nd floor of the same court house. I brought my driver's license and a copy of my house security deed that I got at closing. Do it early to avoid the crazy lines before the deadline (I think March 1st?)

:-) Can you tell I just did both last Feb? :-)

  10. When I was little, and living in California, my Grandmother ALWAYS found neat things to take me to that were free or low cost on the weekends. Drawing classes at the college, plays, craft stuff.

I love doing things with my 3 Kids, but just put myself on a budget so I'm looking for ideas and giving a few suggestions for others.

Home Depot has crafts for free for kids on the 1st Sat of the Month (and they get a little Orange Apron to take home)

    Micheals has stuff too...

I'm taking the kiddos to the Library tomorrow to check it out (Have not been since we moved to Paulding). Any other suggestions?

  11. WHY do people think it's ok to rub someones belly and ask if they are pregnant?! I am not pregnant. Im fat. Ok? I'm not exactly comfortable with it so why in the hell would you point it out? <_< Granted..all though i am bigger for my height i still do not look pregnant!? Thanks for ruining my self esteem today. Thanks for making me not want to eat for weeks. Thanks. I really appreciate that.

    :angry2:

    Vent over.

I'm so sorry! About 2 years ago (and 20 pounds ago) I had a cute Baby Doll top on and size 9 jean capris in Belk and was checking out (Buying a Dooney). The sales girl said I looked great (I was thinking, "Yes, I know") and then said to me "It is sooo nice they make such cute maternity clothes now a days"..."When are you due, pretty soon I'm guessing...?"

I just about died. I wasn't over 150 at that point!

  12. I did a Delux Spa party last year at the Ritzy Pixie for my Step Daughter's 9th Birthday. I'm thinking of a Build a Bear party this year for her (and my 8 year old Son that missed out on a November Birthday Party)....

Has anyone done one? Is it over fast?

    Thanks!

  13. The man can't run a state, why would we want him to run the country?

I voted for him in Cali when I lived there! Mistake, Mistake, Mistake! Total education funding cut, and I could not get the classes I needed at a state college to finish my degree, grrrr! I hate Arnold! GRRR!

  14. I signed on to get directions to Felix Lights and read these now I am worried. I don't want to wait forever and have to manuver around traffic. I thought, well hoping, I could just pull up and watch for a few minutes and leave, no problems... LOL...

Well, what I have read so far I guess any wait and manuvering will be well worth it.

    :D

We didn't wait at all tonight and it was well worth it!
