  1. Just more spin tactics by the media......the meaning of that statement is totally dependent on the context.

Saying "oh well he knew what he was getting into" chiding the guy who dies trying to kiss a rattlesnake is much different than speaking of a soldier saying "he knew what he was getting into yet he still answered the call of duty with his brothers".

  2. There are numerous ways that can be phrased that are anything but disrespectful even if that was his exact quote.

Matter of fact, it is a common sentiment when discussing an all voluntary military that we have now. They all signed up knowing they would be placed in harms way, hence "he knew what he signed up for" is a way of saying he knew the danger and courageously volunteered anyway to go into harms way knowing it may cost him his life. That is the very definition of honor and courage.

  3. This was a preliminary probable cause hearing, it will still be presented to the Grand Jury who will be able to look at the evidence and indict if they find sufficient evidence exists.

There is a good chance he won't make it out of jail on his probation charge before the case is heard and an indictment comes down.

  4. This type of view is what the media is fueling. It will only get worse. This race baiting is making some think this is a view point that is so socially accepted it can be freely shared. Tell people they are victims long enough and they will believe it.

A Subway sandwich worker who hailed the murders of two Mississippi police officers on social media faced a fierce online backlash Sunday — and got canned from her job. Sierra (C-Babi) Mccurdy wrote on Facebook, “2 police officers was shot in Hattiesburg tonight!” according to screen grabs circulating online. “Got em.”

Infuriating people further was another message Mccrudy wrote on Facebook:

'We can turn this bxtch into Baltimore real quick,' she posted. 'Police take away innocent people lives everyday now & get away w/ it, fxck them…[no mercy].'

Thousands of tweets and Facebook posts demanding a response from the company began to appear almost instantly after her post, the Clarion-Ledger reported. By Sunday night, the popular sandwich chain had handed Mccurdy her walking papers. A Subway spokesman said: 'This kind of behavior is unacceptable and does not represent the values and ethics of our brand. The unfortunate choice of one individual should not reflect on the more than 400,000 honest, hardworking Sandwich Artists worldwide. The franchisee has terminated the employee, effective immediately.'

  5. Whats the split between commercial/industrial tax base, and residential in Johnson City, TN ? Ours is approaching 15%-85%, and there lies the difference I am willing to bet. Cobb as I recall is like 60%-40%. Our only non-residential is for all practical purposes Fast Food and Big Box. We have so little other non-residential it is hardly worth breaking out.

Residential is the burden. Schools, parks, police, fire, etc. Non-residential really adds little burden to the governmental infrastructure. So for a well balanced community, the non-residential property tax and ad valorum tax on equipment and inventory MORE than pays its fair share of what the services costs, basically subsidizing the residential. For us it is convoluted, and the bottom line is ONLY residential cannot support the community governments without increased tax burden on the homeowners.

Exactly. Every community has similar services that come at a cost. If no business base exists to help pay the bill then more falls on the residents who are the end consumers. Stuff like this should be common sense.

  6. One would think to wait to install these when there are sidewalks leading to them. If people are walking along these roads, they are walking in the ditch in many spots. There is hardly a shoulder to walk on.

So you think there is no where for a pedestrian to walk along 278 or 120?

I know of no area along either of those roadways where there is not sufficient room, matter of fact both roadways are pretty much designed to have wide shoulders so you can pull a vehicle off the roadway.

  7. I originally thought all the bru-ha-ha was about taking steroids, growth hormones, etc.

I did not find out what "Doping" was until just recently.

And I was unaware of the the transfusion procedures, or the fact they were illegal. and common place.

Bottom line, is what is the harm? Steroids I understand, they will really mess you up later in life. But I have not found anything detrimental to having your own blood refined, and given back to you before a race.

Because it gives an unnatural advantage just as any hormone or steroid does. It introduces more red blood cells to carry more oxygen than the body is naturally capable of which minimizes muscle fatigue and increases stamina.

  8. Also, it is not just steroids or other substances as much as it was blood doping. The easy way is using EPO which stimulates the growth of red blood cells but can be detectable. The more sophisticated and expensive method which is alleged that Armstrong used was a transfusion which can go undetected by current tests. That means blood is taken from the body and the red blood cells are separated and stored. The body is given time to naturally replace the lost blood and the stored red blood cells are injected back into the system just before competition giving an the body the ability to carry more oxygen to the muscles.

So, it is not a simple as saying "there is no positive steroids test" so he must be innocent.

  9. Then he and all those former team mates should be out. He could also be a scape goat handy for the ones who were caught. They knew Lance was a target so he was handy to put the blame on. Could be either way.

Several of those testifying have also had titles stripped and been banned themselves.

  10. I read the report....the amount of evidence against him is huge. They have loads of former team memebers who are not just pointing the finger, they admit to cheating with him and gave the details as to how they got away with it for so long. No chance he was clean.

  11. By the same token none of us would want to be judged in the court of public opinion. But the far reaching effects for the so charged often last a life time. Child molestation charges are always page one, but the not guilty verdicts are on page 12, if they get published at all. The reputation of the guy will be damned forever and I doubt he'll ever get a teaching job again as The Mob have judged him guilty and school systems will always find a way to keep him away, people will not want to "take the chance" around their children, even if the charges were totally dropped. Not to mention the financial destruction of one's life having to defend yourself against such charge and the deep pockets of the DA's office. We're all not like OJ Simpson who had the financial means of defending himself and still got destroyed by The Mob. It is the ultimate no confidence vote for the Justice System in this country, the Voice of The Mob...

If you have an open judicial system you will never stop people from forming an opinion based on the evidnce presented to justify charging someone with a crime. It goes either way depending on the evidence, some people see enough for their version of guilt and some they think there is not enough.

  12. The school is most assuredly not in Villa Rica, as it is located within Paulding County--no more than South Paulding High and Dugan Elementary are located in Douglasville, which is what their street addresses show. Similarly, at the other end of the county, many students who attend North Paulding High have an Acworth address, despite living in Paulding County. Some folks in the eastern section section of the county have a Powder Springs address, and I imagine that a few in the west probably have a Rockmart address, too.

This reflects only where the post office is located that handles their mail. The reporter obviously clicked on New Georgia Elementary's website and saw Villa Rica and that was it. But in fact, one drives south on 61 and sees where Paulding County ends and Carroll County begins, and where the city limits of Villa Rica begin, and one realizes that New Georgia Elementary is not in Villa Rica. One should not confuse city or county limits with post office locations, which is a separate matter.

Yup...for some reason people cannot understand a 'mailing address' does not equate to the physical location which in this case would be unincorporated Paulding.
