  1. Billy, you sound a lot like us!! My husband and I are both 25, and just got married in March. We bought our house in northeast Dallas in Feb, so we are new to the area and really don't know anyone! He is a musician (Saxophone and Bass) and loves writing and arranging music. He has been in several bands (mostly ska/punk/rock), some of which have been on national tours (he is playing July 18th at the Masquerade in Atlanta). He is also in love with his XBox360 and plays Call of Duty 4 almost every evening (I have learned to drown out the sounds of blaring shotguns on our surround sound system). He currently still works in Roswell, so his off days are few and far between.

We aren't the "partying-type", I don't drink at all and Brad enjoys his "old man drink" of Scotch every now and then (ICK!!). No smoking or drugs either, we just aren't into those kind of lifestyles.

Let me know if you want to get together sometime! What other interests do you all have? What does your wife like to do? We are cat and dog people too... two kitties and a dog who everyone thinks is a puppy (he is half black lab, half daushund, so he looks like a lab with tiny legs).

There is that brand new bowling/lazertag/arcade place in Dallas (I think it opened last week). We should get a big "PCom 20-something's" get together started so we can all meet each other! What do you think?

That would be great! We're definitely not the partying type. Trying a drug ONE time is exactly what landed me with a lot of my anxiety, and drinking has never been of much appeal to me. I don't have a 360...trying to save up and upgrade our PS2 to a PS3. Hahaha.

But yeah, that would be great. Maybe we can get together and get a plan together and to round up a bunch of 20-somethings and go bowling sometime. We both love to bowl. Unfortunately, neither of us are very social in a large group environment, so we might find ourselves slightly less full-of-fun as some of you. Shyness is a disease, I tell you. :)

Anyways, send me a PM, or add me on MySpace. I'd love to get to meet you and your husband. This forum is great, and I'm excited to have already met so many friendly people! Hell, I'm even glad to have met PsychoMom even if she IS giving me a hard time in the Miss Jessie thread. B)

  2. you can come to my place and have a beer or two...

i sold all my synthesizers but i still got my midi controller and soft synths...

i was in 2 pretty successful electro bands back in the day.

we played all over atlanta in diffrent clubs.

im more of a folky type person now, i play banjo, mandoline, mountain dulcimer, bass, synth, mississippi sax, and steel guitar.

Nice! Yeah, I have to settle for making my compositions via my computer using the ever-so-popular Fruity Loops 7. But I don't sample much, instead choosing to make my own beats, so it doesn't sound too awfully bad.

I love folk music, honestly. I write a lot of acoustic stuff in my spare time, and I also play drums and bass. Just bought a new guitar for my birthday, on that note. Need to get a band started one of these days.

  3. Welcome Billy glad you are here. :D

I am sure you will find people to connect to.

People on here come from many walks of life, the site is rich with diversity, we come here looking for different things, with all looking for human contact, the exchange of thoughts, ideas, and opinions.

You will find all compassionate, depending on the circumstance, many you will find passionate based on the subject.

We are basicly a human experiment, how do people behave when they can express themselves anonymously, supposedly without consequence for ones remarks, the experiment teaches there are consequences, because we are not avatars, and words on a page we are real living breathing, feeling people, behind what we see on a screen.

We have learned we all have the same basic emotions, triggered by a wide spectrum of different experiences in life.

You can click on hundreds of post a day, and have the opportunity to experience many feelings, most of which are not contrived by a producer, such as tv, but reality of day to day issues we all grapple with.

This is my round about way of sharing with you that everyone is on here for the same reason as yourself, they just do not openly express it as you did.

I do apologize that you are on your way to a serious addiction, :o but take heart it has not been proven to be harmful as of yet.

The side effects can be chores neglected for days. B)

Food and drink stains on the desk and keyboard, I suggest you purchase a spare as soon as possible. <_<

Learn to roll ones eyes as a much needed physical release after reading some post.

When in doubt walk away, Some have bite scars on their fingers, walking away is not as painful.

    Glad you are here!!!

I hear ya! I administrated a fairly successful forum for about 5 years back in my teens and I couldn't pull myself away. I'd spend hours just refreshing the page and reading the new replies and posts. It's certainly an addicting pastime!

  4. You mentioned PC games, which ones do you play?

I can always use another buddy to game with... :D

Well, I used to be a helpless MMO addict during the times when my anxiety kept me glued to my seat. Back then it was World of Warcraft and Guild Wars non-stop. I'm also a god at Halo PC. But as of lately, the following games have been more along my lines:

    Call of Duty: United Offensive

    Call of Duty 4

    Titan Quest

    Ghost Recond: Advanced Warfighter 1 & 2

    Hellgate: London

There's more, of course, but those are some I spent a lot of time playing, or still do.

Here's my Xfire page if you want to see a list of all of my games and how many hours I've sunk into each one. Haha.

Edited to remove link. PM for link.

Thanks for so many replies, everyone, as well as the helpful suggestions. I look forward to being a long-term member of the forums and getting to know you all. :)

  5. I can't seem to post in the Goods section, so I'd like to enlist a little help!

I'm a gamer and am looking for a particular Playstation 2 game called Ratchet & Clank (the original) with box, instructions, and NOT Greatest Hits. I can't round one up at Gamestop that has everything in the box.

Anyone around that can either tell me how to post in the Goods section, or possibly have some info on helping me round this game up locally? Thanks!

  6. I hope you find some friends you fit with. I have kids about your age. Are you from the Paulding area? If so, they may already know you. My son is 20 and recently married himself. And I am a therapist, so I understand about panic attacks and anxiety disorders. I can be here to support you, but I don't think you want to hang out with an old woman. LOL! That is unless you are into ghost hunting. I do that with a group of kids (yes, you are a kid to me) about your age.

Yes, Hiram to be exact. And I'm not worried about age when it comes to friends. Friendship exceeds the boundries of gender and age in my opinion. Of course, having things in common might make a difference. Haha!

  7. Thanks for the quick replies, everyone. But remember, I'm looking for people who won't put me in the "guy with anxiety" category! :) I'd like to make some friends who can see past the flaws my anxiety has created. So, although I appreciate the thoughtful suggestions, I'm looking more for people to help me forget that I've been home-ridden with anxiety for two years! Hehe.

By the way, ljtsimons, your dog is absolutely gorgeous. My wife loves husky breeds. I'm a cat person myself. =P

  8. Two and a half years ago it all began. Sitting in Wendys up in Hiram I suddenly experienced my first panic attack. For a month I laid in bed after a doctor claimed I had mono (another claimed I had a sinus infection). I couldn't walk without stumbling, I felt irrational fear, and spent my days shaking like a leaf. After about 6 months, I rounded up a doctor who finally diagnosed me as having very severe panic disorder. Since then I've been taking medication for it in the form of anti-depressants. I struggled with barely leaving the house for nearly 2 years, all of my friends abandoned me because I wasn't up for going out and doing a lot of things with them. Thankfully, since that point, I've gotten much better! I've lowered my medication considerably, am becoming somewhat more social, and have been married for 10 months! My wife and I just moved into our new rental home and I've decided to try to finally come out of my shell some and try to get my life back.

I'm 21 and my name is Billy. I'm not looking for friends to pity my situation; I'm looking to make some new friends that understand me and don't pressure me to do stupid things, and understand when I'm not up for going out or being "a typical young guy". I listen to and write music of all kinds, including a mildly successful electronic project, I'm a huge PC gamer (also play PS2 with the wife, of course), and am usually pretty easy-going.

I'm here simply to express that I could use some friends, male or female, young or old...people to hang with, or people who might just enjoy good conversation over the computer instead. Want to catch a movie? Do you play any instruments and feel like jamming? Want to play some video games?

I really hope this wasn't too strange, but I've come to the conclusion that the best way to make friends is to go somewhere you trust to find them, and although I've only been a member of this forum for a few days, I've monitored it for a while now and have seen that some of this county's most friendly and caring people spend their time here.

If you have MySpace, feel free to add me!
