  1. That was an eye opener.

Everything 0bama is conservative....right? ... er, or would that be left?

  2. I bet her donors convinced her to run again with the promise they would raise enough to pay off her past campaign debt. My impression is that she is their puppet... I don't think she represents us ...she does what her puppeteers what her to do. :nea:

Generally as a Representative the connections you make will assure some extra success in life. I suspect she plans to set herself up to use some of her influence to go on to more lucrative positions where she can make more money.

That being said, I am not sure she is the type of "power broker" to parlay this position into bigger and better. :pardon:

As to her "looks" ... I am so tired of seeing her in animal print and everything except a nice conservative suit. She needs a new stylist. She is an embarrassment as far as looking professional ...and she is an absolute publicity whore when it comes to posing for pictures ... each time I see her photos, I am embarrassed for her, due to her unprofessional look. Fewer pictures would be better for Paulding County as well.

  3. The very first question was on this topic.

Here is about a one-minute clip of that debate (over 1:20 minutes without closing statements) in which Carruth denies owing the government any money whatsoever.

    <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/aw4ppdGUpdM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So…. He’s “allegedly” a deadbeat…. If he actually defaulted on 2.3 million dollars to the FDIC then in my book ... he IS deadbeat!!!!

Per the below article he owes money ....Then ....he ... is .... a ..... liar… and Pubby has it on tape! :clapping:   :nea:

NOT NOOOOTTTTT, Not.... NOT vote'n for a LIAR!!!!! Can't do it .... :nea: I guess it does not really matter where he lives! ;)

    <snip>

"Attached to this letter are two documents confirming that Mr. Carruth and his wife, Laura, owe the federal government, and thus the taxpayers, $2,351,661.86. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) sued Mr. Carruth in federal court for his default on a loan. Judge Stephen Jones issued the default judgment against Mr. Carruth and his wife on April 27, 2012. On May 30, 2012, Judge Jones also issued a writ of execution directing the U.S. Marshall’s Office to enforce and satisfy a judgment for payment of money owed to the FDIC, a federal agency that is insured by the taxpayers of the United States of America."

  4. I was going to ask this on last night’s thread about Christ's residency challenge...

My understanding is Carruth claims he lives with his mom who rents the home she lives in. However, he has quite a nice home somewhere else where he has lived for some time.

People were actually joking about where they have "heard" he lives now. :nea:

I guess I see why he needs to get back into politics and hold office so he can SQUEEZE more money out of "We The People." It seems too many politicians are parasites. They only thrive while sucking the host to death.

Since he has a 2 million debt he defaulted on... the TAXES on that will make quite a sizable bill. You know when you default on a loan... it is considered earned income, and Uncle Sam sends you a bill for the tax on the earned income?

We don't need another politician who can't manage his own money and would default on personal debt... I won't vote for him.

  5. I would agree, except for that little detail where allegedly David told him he would do something about it.

I still think David Austin is a breath of fresh air over his predecessor. And Tony Crow would have to really impress me with something to change my mind.

I don't know that E. Paulding Dr. can be cut by anyone other than home owners.

However, I know that Todd Pownall, David Austin, and others (who were recruited) took their personal tractors and cut medians of our major roads, and areas that businesses no longer cut - since their doors had shut due to the economy. (This was at the height of the funding crunch. )

They spent their own time on the weekends to make our roads look manicured.

It was very noticeable as you went into Cobb from Paulding, that Cobb had no funding, nor did they have concerned citizens who took their own personal time, fuel, and farm equipment to make their community look better.

We are lucky we are rural and many here own tractors. :drinks:

It is one of the reasons we had better snow removal in winter 2010 Jan/Feb2011. Many tractors were used for snow removal. Our roads were open but Atlanta and Cobb were still a mess! :good:

  6. I will miss his laugh and gentle personality. :cray:

Walt was a truly good and honorable man. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was out riding his bike on the Silver Comet Trail with friends on his birthday and suffered a heart attack that took his life. Please pray for his wife and family, this is such a shock.

  7. I' m sure all of you people have done things you could get arrested for but got away with it.

NO, I did not do things I could get arrested for …I was a good kid!

Why do people love seeing other people fail or get in trouble?

People have been terrorized with break-ins and loss of property they did not have funds to replace. If these boys think it is no big deal, their ethics and morals are so nonexistent that hopefully the full prosecution of the law, the reality of prison, and a Judge giving them a sentence may help them see society does not allow for this crappy behavior.

They are ALL good people who made bad decisions.

Good kids don’t break into other people’s cars or houses. Good kids don’t go unsupervised by parents. Good kids don’t take credit cards of other people and use them.

If it was your child I know you wouldn't want every one talking about them.

Seriously are the parents that dense. I know where my 16 year old and 20 year old are, who they are hanging out with, what they buy themselves, and in general the money they make from their jobs and what they can afford to purchase for themselves.

So where did the parents of these three 17 year olds and one 21 year old think all the new items their kids suddenly had were coming from?

Granted my 20 year old is living at home while he is in college …if he were 21 and not living with us I wouldn’t know what he was up to … however I think if you are 21 and robbing neighborhoods you are not a “good kid” or “a good person.”

All of these guys lives will be changed forever, and , maybe for the better.

Let’s hope so... I hope they have a new epiphany about honor, integrity, honesty , respect, ethics, morals and apply it to their life.

  8. Not sure they are actually building it. Yes, the plans were drawn but I don't think it got past that stage.

I read it will open December ... so I think they can start to build now since they did the ground breaking ceremony.

My husband said he wished RoadTown Enterprises of Los Angeles, California had a little skin in the game - invested some of their own money... that way it would press them to make sure it moves forward and that they are truly committed. They claim it is a partnership ... but I think it is shaky we tax payers are on the hook for all the financial building of the studio?

However the numbers look good in that there were over 300 productions, around 800 million dollars brought to GA, and GA ranked 5th for film and TV production in the US. Wonder how many were Savannah vs. Atlanta area though … I did not see any info on actual cities filmed in… but I have not searched either

It does sound like an opportunity for airport use? It’s worth being hopeful since I see no other business making Paulding home and flying into our unused airport.

  9. I played a game with each of my kids when they were very young....3 and up ...

They had to tell me how to get home....where to turn. If they told me the wrong way I turned where they told me. They would say this is not right ... I would ask why and they had to problem solve to get us home.

We walked the neighborhood a lot, and they played with the neighbor kids...so they knew our area ... they did not just camp out inside the house in front of a TV.

  10. sure ... if there were PR to be had.

    snip>

... the chance anything gets on TV (about this or anything else) improves dramatically the closer the images conform to an angry mob, torches burning, in full chase of a snarling beast (Think Frankenstein's Monster.) Promise those kinds of pictures and action and give the hounds in the press enough time to get to the scene, and they'll be there.

Hey Pip, make sure you foreclose on the Old Courthouse, not the new one, you want the one that is paid off. :ninja:

    HAHAHA

You know, a stunt like that just might get the media's attention. ESP. if we all knew about it in advance and were standing in the parking lot with mean antagonistic strongly worded signs cheering on the Pipster and his attorney. Heh heh...

Looks like the next step.... :aggressive: :good:

I am shocked that our new commissioners have not looked at what this will cost.... what it would cost to settle, AND the fact that a government that bullies it's citizens is no place to live. :nea:

I don’t care if others will come forward …we ALL know that the previous commissioner, builders, and bankers were untrustworthy once they all became a pack … just like wolves … the mentality takes over that if we stick together no one can stop us.

I thought we VOTERS stopped them. I am disappointed that this case has not been to court. It’s just WRONG!!!!!!,

I thought this would stop once we got rid of Sherrin, Richardson et al..

  11. We are currently living between two ice ages in what is called an interglacial warm period (Holocene) and we are nearing the end of it, so enjoy while it lasts. ;)

It could change within a short period of time dropping us into a new ice age.

Currently sun spots have been absent, and many think we could go into a 20 to 30 year cold period similar to the "Marauder minimum."

The Marauder minimum was during 1645 to 1715 and the Earth experienced a mini ice age with nary a Sunspot to be seen. Look it up...our last two winters resemble this period.

The climate on this planet has never been stable and never will.

    Climate change is a hoax.

  12. Far West:

I don't buy your 'Soros' Conspiracy theory. Why?

Here are the figures from opensecrets.com for Monsanto

As to the assertion that Obama is any more or less accommodating to Monsanto than would GWB be; I can only say they were probably about the same and Soros' role is negligible.

Notably, Georgia's own Saxbe Chambliss was the number one recipient of Monsanto money in the 2008 campaign cycle with a $14,000 contribution.

    pubby

You don't have to buy it... Soros did buy 897,813 shares...and I agree that he is in the pockets of ANY politician that he needs to influence.

He is a very wealthy guy and can influence favors all over the world.

One interesting feature of the bill is a bunch of new regulations regarding seeds and seed cleaning that requires expensive equipment. Smaller concerns might not be able to handle the added burden, concentrating the handling of seed production in the hands of corporate giants like Monsanto.

Monsanto has been a dog of a stock for a while, continually disappointing investors and facing lawsuits and foreign government challenging its patents involving food technology. Hence, a tempting opportunity for a hedge fund billionaire who can "persuade" his political friends to tilt the playing field his way.

George Soros: What’s His Fund Been Buying?

Soros also purchased 897,813 shares of Monsanto–his second-largest holding on a dollar basis–during the quarter. The position is now valued at $312.6 million.

  13. I understand both sides of this, and feel Monsanto does need to have its wrist slapped a bit for even threatening patent enfringement like this.

    <snip>

Not to mention the price of our cereals, corn derivatives, as well as all meats would double to triple in price.

Me too ... and Monsanto needs more than a wrist slap...something far more evil is going on there. I'm just saying, they know exactly what they are doing, and it is fear and intimidation. Just as our commissioners have done to you and your wife... tooo many stories like this our courts seem out of control too.

The Govt requiring ethanol be added to gas, therefore grinding up of our food to make ethanol is even more onerous than not using GM seeds to me.

I understand the need for hardy disease resistant seed stock … Monsanto though appears to want to be the monopoly in taking away rights by hook or by crook.

  14. Yep, we always need to pay attention to what's on his desk when he going in front of cameras with his teleprompter. Never let a crisis go to waste. :drinks:

Isn't it interesting that no one understands 0bama just put our small farmers in a box?

This could also ruin the seed diversity that keeps whole regions from losing a specific crop or plant due to one infestation of bug, fungus, or virus in nature.

0bama is a parasite on America and the people who live here!

Democrats give one more big favor to George Soros

    December 02, 2010

Curiously, George Soros' hedge fund has just bought 897,813 shares (valued at $312.6 million) of Monsanto. His hand seems to be in anything that weakens individual freedom and destabilizes currencies and free governments, and makes him money in the process.

While Congressional Democrats dawdle away on deciding our tax rates and refuse to pass a budget, they still find time to pass on favors to special interest groups and people. The latest big favor comes to the sugar daddy that has funded so many of their campaigns and was an early supporter of Barack Obama: George Soros.

  15. GMO ... Genetically Modified Organism

GM Seeds ... Genetically Modified Seeds

Based on Schmeiser's summary ... the court said Monsanto controls the seeds...thus they must control it in the environment so it does not contaminate others. They can't control it...so they now have a responsibility. There are many court cases against Monsanto we will see where it ends.

Family Farmers Amplify Legal Complaint Against Monsanto’s GMOs

    May 31st, 2011

Biotechnology Giant Fails to Provide Binding Legal Protection; Farmers Threatened by Contamination from Genetically Modified Organisms

NEW YORK: New threats by Monsanto have led to the filing of an amended complaint by the Public Patent Foundation (PUBPAT) in its suit on behalf of family farmers, seed businesses, and organic agricultural organizations challenging Monsanto’s patents on genetically modified seed.

“Our clients don’t want a fight with Monsanto, they merely want to be protected from the threat that they will be contaminated by Monsanto’s genetically modified seed and then accused of patent infringement,” said PUBPAT Executive Director Daniel B. Ravicher. “We asked Monsanto to give our clients reassurances they wouldn’t do such a thing, and in response Monsanto chose to instead reiterate the same implicit threat to organic agriculture that it has made in the past.”

Obama Deregulates GMO Crops Despite Supreme Court Injunction

Early this spring, while the world was distracted by Egypt's uprising, President Barack Obama pushed the Secretary of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to deregulate genetically engineered alfalfa and sugar beets in the United States. The USDA came through as he directed, totally deregulating these Monsanto-patented genes in early February.

In so doing, Obama and the USDA have chosen to override and ignore decisions and injunctions made by the U.S. Supreme Court that banned planting of genetically engineered alfalfa and sugar beets without consideration of the Environmental Impact Assessments, which showed high risks to organic and conventional (chemical) farmers.

Yes We Can (Screw you if we want to.) Hope and change baby!

  16. heath was up there literally crying like an idiot when he was speaking about all of the homeless children and beaten women that would come of this. it's absolutely embarrassing.

Maybe he was hitting the sauce prior to his speach... sad drunk? :drinks:

It often seems the one that wants to limit others - has the probem themselves! I'm just saying. :pardon:

  17. If any moderators are reading this, can you please change this to a non public poll. I didnt realize it was where you could see everyone and how they voted. I would rather it be private in that matter.

Nah, I think if we want the choice to purchase on a Sunday something that is legal all the other days of the week, we are not afraid to have people know we support the chance to vote on it.

I hope someone runs against Heath... better yet term limits need to be put in place so someone will run! It's tough to unseat incumbents when the money train to back them is bought and paid for in votes!

  18. Maybe, if Georgia can get around this, that light bulb factory could move here?

South Carolina had the same idea!

SC Bill Tries To Avoid Federal Incandescent Light Bulb Phase-Out

A new bill at the SC Statehouse would try to get around a federal phase-out of incandescent light bulbs and attract a manufacturer to make them in the state.

    <snip>

Representative Loftis said “it provides for the option of an entity manufacturing these bulbs in to be sold in South Carolina”.

    <snip>

Wilson explained, “since the bulbs would be made entirely in South Carolina and sold in South Carolina, the federal government has no power to regulate it under the Interstate Commerce Clause.” Romano’s report went on saying there would be more hearings in the subcommittee before coming to a final vote in the full committee. Chairman Sandifer was hopeful for a full house

    approval of the bill.http://www2.wspa.com/news/2011/mar/01/2/sc-bill-tries-avoid-federal-incandescent-light-bul-ar-1523623/

  19. Do you know if a CFL breaks ... you and your pets must leave your home for 15 minutes .... AND use no ventilation during that time?... AND clean up any breakage with thick protective gloves on? ...AND that you're not supposed to throw them away in the regular trash?

Before I knew about the murcury in these (Yeaaaars ago,) we had several that broke, or exploded off the base of the bulb! ...I swept it up with a broom, vaccumed the area, and threw it in the trash! :angry2: :o

    <snip>

take a piece of cardboard and sweep the glass shards from the CFL bulb into a dustpan, getting as much of it up as possible. Don't use a whisk broom - you can't clean it well enough or safely enough.

Empty the dustpan into the glass jar or Ziploc bag, but don't seal it up yet. Use wet wipes to clean the dustpan, then put them in with the fragments.

Pick up tiny fragments of glass and residue with a piece of duct tape. Put the duct tape and the cardboard into the jar or bag.

Using the wet wipes, carefully clean the whole area where any part of the broken CFL fell. Put the wet wipes and your latex gloves in the jar or bag.

Because mercury is a highly toxic substance, you can't just throw it away. Dispose of it at your local toxic waste depot as you would do with dead batteries.

If the CFL bulb breaks on carpeting, try the same steps. It is not recommended that you vacuum up fragments, since the residue will remain in the parts of the vacuum. If you do it anyway, you must seal up and throw out the vacuum bag. If you use a canister vacuum, clean the trap carefully with wet wipes, and seal them with the fragments.

    http://www.ehow.com/how_5323299_clean-up-broken-cfl-lightbulbs.html

  20. Good plan to overcome idiocy.

It started first in other countries!

Public oppositionBulk purchasing of incandescent bulbs was reported ahead of the EU lightbulb ban. Many retailers in Britain, Poland, Austria, Germany and Hungary have reported bulk purchasing,[41][42][43][44][45] and in Germany, sales rose by up to 150% in 2009 in comparison to 2008.[46] Two-thirds of Austrians surveyed stated they believe the phase-out to be "nonsensical", with 53.6% believing their health to be at risk of mercury poisoning.[47] 72% of Americans believe the government has no right to dictate which light bulb they may use.[48] The Czech Republic President, Vaclav Klaus, urged people to stockpile enough incandescent bulbs to last their lifetime.[49]

The phase out has been referred to as "light bulb socialism".[46] The consumer preference for light bulbs in the EU is for incandescent bulbs, with many complaining about what was described as the ugliness[41][50] or the cold, flat, unnatural, dull light emanating from CFLs.[42][46][51][52][53][54] Objection has also been raised to being forced to adopt CFLs.[55]

Museums and individuals have been stockpiling incandescent lightbulbs in Europe, owing to CFL's inferior colour representation.[52][56] The European Association for the Co-ordination of Consumer Representation in Standardisation has called for a speedy reduction of the mercury levels contained within CFLs from the current 5mg limit to 1 mg.[57] The European Consumers' Organization, BEUC, said that phasing out incandescent bulbs will be detrimental for people suffering light-related health issues,[58] and called for the continued availability of incandescent bulbs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phase-out_of_incandescent_light_bulbs

  21. CFL's save money but they are not a good choice for all locations. Locations where use is intermittent and for a short duration such as hallways and stairwells, or some exterior uses are not recommended. The government just doesn't know when to butt out. Any technology that is superior to the old technology will dominate on it's own without government intervention. Did the government take away your Betamax or your tube type TV's? There is no need for the Government to take away your incandescent bulbs or to pay the CFL manufacturers a subsidy. It's pure statism and crony capitalism.

    :drinks: :clapping:

    When will people understand that!

I bought them years ago and they would last such a short time it was truly not worth the money.

I put them places that were a pain to put in a new bulb ....that is the reason I was so aware of it. In fact I thought I might have an electrical problem and started keeping a log of what date I replaced the bulbs in my house.

I stopped buying the CFL's - they just were not what was promised on the label! I was lucky to get 4 months on ones that claimed three years!

I had planned to start hoarding incandescent bulbs this year so I would not be forced to use them.

  22. This is not far off from what we suggested to David Austin March of 2009, shortly after he took office, and it was flat our rejected by the BOC. Of course that was half a million dollars ago.

And even though the BOC and their attorney claim they have not broken the Georgia Anti-Slap Statute; at the court ordered mediation the ONLY offer we were made by the BOC was to NOT continue to sue us for their attorney fees.

Remember you have a different BOC now. New members were sworn in this January. The old King Jerry gang is GONE!

  23. I don't understand. I hadn't heard anything much about this and just assumed it was a small time thing that would be settled and be over with. Is this for real? I mean, really? Are our former county leaders (and evidently some current ones too) THAT corrupt? Funneling money from the tax payer to their re-election campaigns and using a lawsuit as a means to fleece us and finance themselves is just DAMNED WRONG.

I'm not doubting what you're saying, but I just find it hard to believe the local Republican Party has not done something about this is it were true. Where has the local Republican Party been? Where has the Ethics Committee been? Why hasn't this been turned over to the DA or FBI for corruption charges?

Again, I'm not doubting you but I just find it really hard to believe our former commission and now elected representative (plus the local Republican Party) is corrupt to that extent.

    Many of us wonder that....

Our local Republican Party is a part of that! Lots of "Good ol boys and girls"

The fact no one of the old board of commissioners has been investigated and sent to jail is truly a mystery to many!
