  1. Maybe they can tell my why I just got my tax bill and my house went from $161,100 to $113,800. I have a 3,600 sq ft house on an acre of land. How the hell do they figure this?????

Are they going to increase the millage and depreciate houses to get more taxes???

I'm about done with this freaking county!!!

  2. Your right, I have no friends that I talk to in Paulding that have kids in the school system or others that still live in the county. I didn't live there and see how F'd up the county was for about 5 years. I do get ALL my info from this site, none from other sources. I don't own a home there that I am still trying to sell and don't pay taxes to help put kids I don't have through that crappy school system. I don't have a close friend that is a teacher at EPHS or another that is a teacher at one of the middle schools. I have no idea what is going on, I have my head in the sand like 90 percent of the population. /s rolleyes.gif

    You are too funny! :)

Piss Poor planning from the start, yeah, its pretty easy to figure out.

    I agree!

  3. I think until they get rid of the good ole boys network going on in Paulding County this mess will continue on it's current path. How do you go into such debt in such a short amount of time? You can blame it on the recession but not all counties are in this position. Look at Douglas County, they're hiring teachers. I know for a fact because two of our teachers just got hired on there!

  4. That's PREDOMINATELY black colleges. Where have you been the last 40 years? ninja.gif

I know what it is! It just seems like everyone is complaining there not getting something. I had to put my kids through college without any help from anyone. I didn't b**ch or complain about it, I just did it. It blows my mind colleges would be complaining there not getting something and they're using race!

  5. Teachers are being made the scapegoat for the societal problems contributing to poor test scores. Teacher merit pay sounds like a wonderful idea on its face but many factors are beyond our control. I cannot control whether or not a child does their homework, or chooses to study when they get home. Before I give a test in my class, I give a review sheet several days in advance, let the kids work on it in class, help with any questions they have, and try to reteach information they may have missed, and go over the review sheet the day prior to the test. In addition, I give the students an extra 5 points for a completed review sheet. However, you'll be amazed to find out that many kids fail to turn in a completed review sheet and fail to work on the review sheet in class, yet they have the audacity to blame the teacher for their lack of success and have parents support the sense of entitlement their kids have. Most teachers try to work hard and do the right thing by their students but we are not miracle workers. We cannot make up for the lack of parental involvement in their child's education, nor can we make up for the lack of discipline at home. I guarantee the proponents of merit pay would soil themselves if they had to set foot in a classroom, especially the inner cities or poor rural schools. I graduated from high school 25 years ago and the difference between now and then is staggering. I had some teachers I didn't care for, but never thought they were out to do me in or cheat me in some way. I felt most teachers were on my side, willing to help and support me. Today, kids feel they have a right to do and say what they please without fear of reprecussion. Worst of all, you have parents feed into this dysfunctional and inappropriate behavior and yet we are blamed for the lack of success their child may have and politicians on both sides of the political spectrum blame teachers as well. I guarantee if every teacher in Georgia was "sick"for a day, the state would grind to a halt.

    Isn't that the truth!!!
