Yes but he didn't commit any of those violations. It was a "normal" speeding violation and he is almost 20 yrs old. -

No he got his changed to a regular class C license when he was 18. He had a D license before. D License you could only get 4 points before you got suspended, Class C is a normal license. -

If he is an adult then why is he being forced to take a teen driving class? He should have been able to pay his fine and been on his way. But he was put on probation until the end of November...it didn't matter what the violation if you are under 21 you MUST take the class. Same violations at 22yrs and older you didn't. -
Question regarding speeding ticket/teenagers

Here's the thing...in the eyes of a court anyone under 21yrs old is treated as a "child". The judge called all parents to step forward for anyone under the age of 21. I went for support since it was his first (and hopefully last) time in a court room. I was shocked I had to go up with him as he is legally an "adult"...except in traffic court! -
Question regarding speeding ticket/teenagers
debbielou replied to debbielou's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I wasn't worried about the fine, I was trying to get them to reduce the speed so there would be no points which would end up affecting my insurance:) When one has never been through this and everyone starts saying you need an attorney ...well I was ready to hire one. But thankfully all turned out OK. -

He plead no lo and paid his fine. No points will go in his license. Has to take a class that is an additional $50. Can only plead no lo if you are 18 yrs and older. The Judge was very reasonable with everything I heard. She really took her time to explain things to people and answered questions until you fully understood. -

Are you sure you can plead no lo if you are under the age of 21? It is his first violation of any kind so hoping they will reduce to 14mph over...he is prepared to pay the fine. -

Not saying an attorney will get the charge lessen, But I would much rather have attorney by his side as I don't have a clue what he sould do. Yes he is at fault and he is paying the fine. It is his first violation and I am pretty sure he has learned his lesson already as his first real paycheck is going to pay for the fine. That hurt him pretty bad. -

It actually is cheaper to pay an attorney...if insurance raises his rates even $500 a year for the next few years, I would rather him pay an attorney $500 or so and get it reduced to 14 mph. -

I had no idea- thanks for the info. Will have him check it out today. We bought the car used and haven't replaced the tires yet, so really don't know if the size is different. -

Thanks for all the info. I will try to contact a lawyer tomorrow. Seems silly to plead not guilty when he is but if that is what needs to be done to get a better handle on the situation then so be it. Thanks again Ticket says Dallas- Probate -

So he should plead not guilty and then we should hire an attorney ? Sorry for all the questions...never had to deal with this or any court hearing before. -

I sent you a PM to ask a few questions. I believe it may be to late to hire an attorney as he goes to court Thursday. -
Question regarding speeding ticket/teenagers

My kid is almost 20. He swears he was only doing 10mph over (which I didn't believe) and he swore his speedometer must be off. I drove it the other day and went by 2 different radar signs that show your speed and low and behold it showed I was doing 5mph more then what was reading on speedometer. Not much we can do about it now, but get it fixed or just remember that when driving. Live and learn -

Question regarding speeding ticket/teenagers

So are the classes just for kids who had accidents or for any kind of driving violation? -
My kid got a speeding ticket and has to go to court Thursday since he is under 21 yrs old. 15mph over the speed limit. What should he expect when he goes? He is at fault and is paying the fine and has learned his lesson (I hope). Is he going to be expected to plead something (guilty, not guilty)? He isn't looking to get out of anything- he was at fault. He is just wondering what he should expect when he goes. Anyone been through this before with their kids?

I have read many posts from you today and I am so glad you think you know it all. It amazes me how many people one person could put down in a day.

Thanks for the offer but I am not sure I would want to know. I have never had any experiences before in this house although my husband has. He said he was standing out in the driveway one night and all of a sudden he got this ice cold feeling. He said it felt like someone went through him. Now- he is NOT the type to believe in ghosts but that scared him. We live in New Hope also. I will keep you in mind if we decide to have it looked into.

I have a dog that will REFUSE to walk down our hallway at times. He will be in the back bedroom and will peep his head out the door and whine. He will NOT come out and when you push him out he will look up and start barking. I have always wondered if there is something there. Has to be from the way he acts.
