  1. Lisa G. and Green Meadow were doing a little shopping at Publix and ran into each other they checked out and were walking outside together. Well, guess what they saw? THE AKITA!!! Green Meadow was off work and in personal vehicle so she didn't have leash I guess, neither did LisaG.. So that's how I got involved, Ash called and asked me to run a leash up to them.

I'm sure once they get the chance they will post more detail. I just wanted anyone thats been following the story and has been concerned about the dog to know that he's safe and at the shelter in need of a for home soon.

  2. There was, it was lost off the Dallas square. I never heard if it was found. I have seen a small Beagle twice on Nebo this week at the 2nd church on left coming from hwy92. He doesn't have a collar.

Hows Petie's mom? :unknw: Sure all is well, just been curious.

Off to feed "horse w/no name"

  3. Try a Chicago Dog~> cucumber slice, tomato wedges, cube onion, sport peppers or those lil' ones that's in the pepper sauce bottles(not to hot), celery salt, pepper, mustard and mayo. Oh, and relish.

I'm pretty sure thats it or thats close, some here say w/ shredded cheddar cheese.

    Gooood Dawg!

edit: thanks denise, I forgot the relish.

  4. Wish my dog was behaved enough to walk.............. grrrr

LOL, thats what I thought and was afraid that mine would embarrass the heck out of us.

We took them to an event at Paulding Meadows (not sure if it was DD)a couple or few years ago and they actually surprised me, they were so well behaved same on the Comet Trail walks.

It was a little embarrassing to have a 100lb dobe about knock me down as he hid behind me when the Maltese barked back at him though.

  5. I just wanted to add, a friend tried it for her dog, it was loosing skin pigmentation or color in random areas over the body from head to tail the vet ran test but everything came out fine. Within a week we could see that the color was starting to come back. I'm gonna try it for my 19yr. old cat.

I added a link in above post.

  6. Any new developments? Has anyone figured out who the man may be that picked up the dog at the Chevron store at Dallas/Nebo and 61 yet?

    Not yet...

I was wondering if you'd heard from the lady that took the dog or "him" from you, or if any vets have seen him? I know its the same dog by the pic Ga Tornado posted, (thanks Ga T.) I hate I didn't get one, I would have if the man wouldn't have come along just before I loaded him up.

I'm just thankful he did. I'm certain he's doing his best w/ him, he was very concerned for the dog's wellbeing and what it had obviously been put through.

I would like to thank him for caring the way he did. The dog was a 1/4 the size of his car and about the size of the man or his mother.

We need to check AC too just in case.

I will post any new info that could be a poss. lead to an update on him "Blix". ASAP

I wish I'd followed the story y'all had on him and I would have known what he looked like. I just saw that so many were concerned for the dog on 61 at Publix and I knew he was in good hands w/ pcomer's.

  7. This is just the strangest thing to me, it has to be the same dog! He had to have gotten away from the lady the OP was talking about, then my sucker friend Sheri got him and this man got him. Maybe he won't get away again. It just seems to be too much of a coincedence for a dog with the same description to have been found so soon after. I hope if anyone else who lives on this side of town *hint*hint* sees one they will post it on here!

    Your "sucker friend" !!!!

Yeah I know I hate it, that I didn't get his info you know that I always follow up and offer help to someone that takes one that I have been involved with, just can't help it I have an immediate bond and obligation w/ any strays until I know they are settled in for sure.

Just look at you Ash I still keep a check on you and it's been over a year since I found you! :p

I know that most of us are that way.

It's funny, I just sent 4thedogs a pm before I looked in here, It looks we were all thinking alike.

I hated to be so descriptive of the man and his mother but I thought someone may go to church with him or recognize him by that. Well, I said I may be able to track him down I will start by asking the clerk at the store and go from there. Also I have a feeling he goes to church on 61 past Merles.

Ash you need to go to church! j/k I go enough for the 2 ....

Don't you dare say stalker, Ash!!!

  8. uuuhhhh ... naming contest???!!?!?!?!!?!!!???

    Savi ... for saving you.

Gigi .... along the lines of Gorgeous, but more "female"

Neba ... ^^^ see above but more related to area :D

    Sheri ... after you!

    Sheripa ... a combination of above :p

ok, so I am not the greatest offerer of names

She is very beautiful & congrats ... long & happy companionship to you both!

I see now how you got your name :p ~> Hi, my name is Sheri and this is my horse Sheri and my dog's name is Sheri.... Kinda catchy :D

I kinda like Neba, it sounds a lil' Native Indian. She is such a free spirited young hearted lil' inquisitive polka dotted pony.

  9. Thanks y'all, she's keeping me busy!!!

I haven't come up with the name that suites her yet, I call her Pink because the man that had her called her Piggy. She's not a Piggy. Any suggestions?

My cousin has some property on Nebo a couple of miles from the house. He has it for sale though. I'm having so much fun w/ her.

By the way american pie, your not older than me. Never give all the correct info. over the computer 8)

I'm off to the pasture now!!

  10. p.m sent w/ phone #

OK, well I have 4 large dogs inside so when the man that offered to help me offered to take him home I was pleased to have the offer. AND I didn't exchange information either, I may be able to track him down he stopped by that store after church and may live in Creek Side. I was amazed that he offered he was well dressed, in a nice white Camry w/ immaculate saddle interior, and had his mother was with him, she was about 85yr. maybe someone would know them by that description. He didn't seem the kind that would usually pick up huge stray dogs but he was concerned enough to be the only one to help and offered to take care of the dogs needs. I was awake most the night too after reading this post and saw how many were concerned. I was just glad to get him out of the cold and fed, plus having someone offering to take him immediately was an added bonus. I did offer to follow him or help in anyway, but he seemed more afraid of me than the dog. Maybe he took him to a local vet this a.m.. I'm concerned for the dog too so please keep us posted on any developments.

I would bet it's the same dog, I had an Akita and aware of their temperament too. He seem tired and didn't put up much of an argument in going. I hope he well.

  11. Nope not him, he is definately the one pictured in post #6. He has no blemishes other than the fur on one hip is thinned out and I think that is from him getting hit by a car, that and the limp with the same leg. It took two of us to lift him and he does not look malnourished at all as he gets tossed misc. goodies by shoppers and workers at Publix. Last night we noticed he would trot up to people who were coming through the parking lot with bags, but not to ones with out. He has learned that shopping bags might have food for him in them.

NOW I JUST NEED THE PERSON WHO TOOK HIM HOME TO CALL ME AND GIVE ME AN UPDATE PLEASE....

GOOD JOB GETTING THIS BOY OFF THE STREET!!!

Sorry I hadn't had a chance to read all the post until now. I feel like I stepped in on it at the wrong time or ...

This dog in the pic that GaTornado posted looks like the dog I found tonight.

  12. Anyone who travels down Hughes rd/ Mitchell rd right beside the baseball field on ridge rd.....keep on the lookout for some dog signs up along that road.....it shows 2 dogs....haven't had the chance to see the exact info......they may be the dog(s) mentioned.......we just had a large breed dog stroll through our yard monday...wasn't really aggressive ....but kept his distance when we tried to approach him.........we live right off ridge rd and didn't want him getting in the road.....but he ran off.......this one had a chain choker/collar

Edit.........dog signs mentioned are actually posted on here....just saw the post..... http://www.paulding.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=192291 but sadly neither one is the dog i saw.

This wasn't a Pitt, it was an Akita. Did the dog that strolled through your yard look like the pic posted above.

  13. First off, he was going to the vet today and the first thing they will do is scan him. The woman who took him home said she would do that for him. He will not be left to suffer from any injuries. On the second hand, the Publix personnel said they have called animal control theirselves and no one has shown up. Another poster here said she called them herself and they could not come so he was not high priority even tho we have had freezing temperatures and he was in a high traffic area in a public location. He has been hanging around for over 2 months without anyone being able to catch him so this was his only shot as far as I am concerned. If he is not chipped, I will not adopt him out, he will be placed with a licensed no kill rescue. We will do what ever we can to find a rightful owner but he has no collar or tags, has been loose for months, is injured, huge, dirty, smelly, untrusting of people, really how long do you think it would take for someone to adopt him if goes to animal control and is not claimed within 3 days? I personally would like to give him a bigger chance than that. Let his place at animal control be taken by a owner turn in who is very adoptable an healthy. Let a rescue work with him to get him in healthy condition and trustful of people again.

Does the woman still have him or could he have gotten away from her tonight I found one tonight at 8:30 that looks just like this dog and sound like him as far as the descriptions and temperament. He is shy of people.

  14. Bless you for picking him up... sounds like he's had a rough go of it.

He looked rough, I was reading another thread about a large dog and the pic of him looks exactly like him. At least he's off the street and will be getting to the vet. The clerk at the store said someone from a local vet's office was inquiring about this dog. I'm not sure about the details of who they were or what vet's office or if they had tried to catch him.

  15. I was there last night and tried to catch him....and the jack@$$ cart pusher boy ran him off....I couldn't get anywhere near him after that....

    I'll post a pic..in a minute

Thanks to those ladies that was there last night trying and caught him. I saw ya'll around 8:30!!

He looks soooo much like the dog I found at Scooter's tonight!!! Someone called about a dog that was hanging around the store, when I got there he acted as if someone had dropped him off and he was waiting on them to come back. He wouldn't let me get close right away, but I did and a very sweet man came along to help w/ him.

  16. I found an Akita about 8:30 tonight at the store on Dallas Nebo at 61. He's about 120 lbs, limping hind rt leg and his rt. eye looked as if it had been shot with a bb gun through the pupil. Animal control was closed so I couldn't take him in to check for chip. His coat's ragged looking and around his neck felt like he may of had been tied or something had injured his neck, he didn't have a collar.

  17. Finally!!! I did it, she's mine a Christmas gift from my sweetie. I guess he got tired of hearing me talk about her, EVERYDAY! I just couldn't get her off my mind. Bring the girls over to see her sometime, she's a sweetie too. LOVEaLOOSA!!!
