  1. Yes, Cochran was an EMPLOYEE of the BOC at that time, and for many years before and after this, even worked under Bill Carruth. It doesn't matter if she knew anything about it or not, because she has never been in a decision making position....she was an employee. She did what she was TOLD to do, just like any employee of ANY business. She could not have spoken out about this issue without fear of being fired! If you were at risk of loosing your job, would you speak out?

People are trying to read a whole lot more into this issue then needs to be. It really is a non-issue to begin with and is only trying to smear a candidate who is running against someone else they are supporting. And this doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out!

But let me explain a little about that email in question. The County was wanting clarification if they needed to run print advertising (at the expense of the County) if the "Millage" rate did not change for that year. The law requires public advertising if the "Millage" rate changes, which it didn't. Again, a mountain was made of a molehill!

I do not have knowledge of any possible wrongdoings by the former board members, I do not know if Ms. Cochran did.

But to answer your question if I did know of something that was not right, I would not hold back in fear for my job. I believe the word would be integrity, and standing up for the right thing.

I could not work in a situation knowing that I was forced to "keep quiet", just to keep a job.

  2. What about animal control as an issue. I raise that as a possible issue because I do think the candidates for county office need to go on record about the topic.

    Why?

Well, the county's 'shake up' at Animal Control has made the decision that the shelter is best run by a person with police post certification with no specific training in regard to animals.

What impact that will have on adoptions, the willingness to fine residents, how well they engage volunteers and basically the adoptions of abandoned pets, etc.

The promise is that nothing will happen to change the commitment of the county to adoptions and humane treatment of the pets.

That, no doubt, will be the case as long as the commissioners - post commissioners and chairman - all insist that the animal shelter be managed with professionalism. But have any of them gone on record in support of the efforts of the Humane society and its involvement and leadership in regard to the shelter.

Who cares about the animals, how about the humane treatment of teachers and children who will suffer from the shortfalls in the BOE.

  3. Assuming the SPLOST passes, the East Hiram Parkway will alleviate a great deal of the afternoon Hiram SPrawl by allowing a large number of cars to get off 278 at what is now Cleburne Parkway. It should help quite a bit.

There is discussions of some sort concerning the old stinky fields which are also adjacent to the NS tracks. But for a developer to come here the county is going to have to offer to work with them to build a nice industrial/office/warehouse park and to date that has never happened.

And I am afraid the Industrial Building Authority has spent its money on the airport terminal.

Speaking of the "stinky fields" who in the county, or why would the county allow a developer to build a sub-division nearly right on top of the spray fields, knowing chances are highly unlikely that the homes would sell because of the smell?

As far as that goes why would a financial institution lend to a developer while possesing the same information?

    just sayin

  4. He isn't that good folks, his Daddy said so himself. If you read any of the books on Sr. its no secret that KELLY was the real star when it came to driving, Jr. had to beg and plead to get in a car. Most of Jr's wins have come on tracks where luck is more important then racing, Daytona and 'Dega. Nascars version of bumpercars meets county fair figure 8 racing.

    Did you mean Kerry?

  6. Sports Source why do you think there are no black Nascar drivers? Black people are top athletes in all other sports so why not Nascar? Does black people not like driving fast. I have seen a few working in the pits but not driving. What is your view on this.

    Not every sport,

    Hockey

    Skiing water or snow

only one in golf and he's semi retired might not make it back, but I hope he does

only one in motocross and he's out with injuries

    curling

    horse jockey

I could go on and on

  7. Another way to look at it could be that Sunday was the perfect time for payback for Edwards, as he was not in contention being several laps down "thanks to Kesolowski", therefore why wait till Bristol or anywhere else where Edwards could possibly take out himself, along with Kesolowski, or possibly other drivers, and possibly lose more championship points.

  8. Rubbing is racing! :good: ;)

However, what is TOO excessive? :pardon:

I believe that when NASCAR parked Edwards there should have

been a hefty FINE as well... I'm just sayi'n :pardon:

    (I understand ratings) 8)

Not a GOOD example for kids! ;)

    kids don't race

  9. Folks Jr's dad even said he was a sub-par driver. I like the guy but he isn't an elite drive, its just the way it is.

I believe this is the first time I have ever agreed with you.
