  1. A big thank you to Coach Reid and all of the coaches and high school guys who ran the 7th/8th grade football camp this week. My son had a great time and learned so much in just three short days. He is so excited to get started with practices and get the new teams rolling.

We really appreciate all of the hard work that has gone in to making sure our boys have a quality football program.

I was very impressed with the high school boys who took time out of their summer to come and work with our boys. I know my son enjoyed hanging out with the "older guys" and he really thrived on their encouragement. EPHS has some stand up young men!

I will second that! The organization was impressive, not one wasted minute.

  2. The most recent black driver was Bill Lester and he drove in several Cup races. He also had a career in the Truck Series where he drove for several years in the early through mid 2000's. Lester was the first black driver to qualify and drive in a Cup car in 20 years! I honestly do not know why there are not black drivers. I am sure there are many that drive in the lower divisions that would be capable of being competitive in all three series. When we lived in AL the business we owned sponsored a car at the dirt track in Montgomery. There were a couple of young black men that drove there and were VERY good drivers. It is just like Juan Pablo Montoya is the only hispanic driver to have a regular and consistent ride in the Cup Series. Maybe it has something to do with NASCAR being considered for so long as a Good Ole Boys sport????

$$$$. Bring a 20 mil. sponsor and just about anyone could get a ride.

  3. This would most likely not even be a big issue had that winged shoebox not gone airborne. What bothers me is Mike Helton's statement that they were trying to figure out why the car went airborne. Let's see, if we put a wing on the back it will aid downforce going forward but surely it won't create lift going backwards.

Waiting until Bristol to wreck him would surely ruin the day for a whole bunch of other drivers, not to mention possible payback from them. Besides, after seeing the pavement through his windshield, how long before BK even thinks of messing with Edwards again?

  4. dunno. that's a hard one.

it's hard for me to take some of the businesses that advertise here very seriously. for a hundred and fifty bucks, you're in.

and you're protected. not much of an investment, and nothing to lose.

but hey, if i'm looking at spending a couple hundred or less, i'll use the cheap guy from p.com with low overhead and we'll both come out winners.

however, if i were looking at a major purchase or repair, you bet your butt i'd be using someone with yellow pages ad, a website, an actual business location, who is licensed, bonded, insured, and has been in business for more than 3 years.

not someone who plays on the internet all day and pays 150.00 to run a side job.

You hit the nail on the head there!

It also amazes me that a CM will use THAT membership to post personal replies. I can tell you that there are more businesses that I will not use than I would use based on their personal opinions.

Then again maybe that's a good thing. Go ahead, post away so I can make a more informed decision with whom I should spend my money.

  5. GPS coordinates? Are they kidding me? I smell a large win-win lawsuit.

The company in TX will probably close and declare bankruptcy leaving the homeowner to fight with his ins. co. which will refuse to pay and they'll be screwed. They will have to spend big$$ and years suing everyone involved. Good luck!

  6. Nancy's Chicago Pizza has two locations in Atlanta. One on Ponce and one on Peachtree. It doesn't get any more Chicago style than Nancy's.

Agree, very good Chi pizza. However, not anywhere near Hiram.

  7. The Spring Hill plant stopped building Saturns in 2007. They built something called a Chevy Traverse? Up until 2004 GM's Spring Hill plant had a separate union agreement with the IAM. But the union voted to have the same contract as the rest of GM. So GM shut the plant down for 18 months and moved Saturn production to other GM plants.

Way to kill the goose! I've had Saturns since the first year they rolled off. It was fun to order a car and have it built just for you.

  8. Don't get me wrong, I always enjoyed Glavine when the Braves were on their streak during the 1990s and into 2000s. But hey, he was the Players Union Representative in that ill-fated strike year, which accomplished what ?

And he bailed on the Braves when they would no longer bank roll the super bucks after his arm started giving out.

I give them credit and kudos for allowing Glavine to come back to Atlanta for what was assumed to be his last season, where he could go out in style at home.

    It did not work out.

He had a great career, and he was part of the Braves from worst to first and at the top of his game for years following in the play-offs virtually EVERY year he pitched for Atlanta. Not a bad deal at all..........

    EXACTLY!

They did him a favor in allowing him to rehab on their dime while also letting him showcase whatever talent he has left to other teams.

  9. From CBS46's website (05-31-09)

Parents Thrown Out Of Children's Graduation

ATLANTA -- Several parents were thrown out of their children’s graduation ceremony Thursday night.

The incident happened at the commencement for
    Maynard Jackson High School
at the Atlanta Civic Center. Other parents said about two dozen people were thrown out.

The school told CBS Atlanta the parents were asked to leave because they were disrupting the ceremony. But the parents said all they did was cheer their graduating children.

“I left before her name was called,” said parent Cullen Reid. “I was ticked off, I was really upset.”

Reid said police forced him to leave when he asked two officers who were arguing with another parent to lower their voices.

“To see your child walk across that stage is a happy occasion and you can't cheer? That's ridiculous,” Reid said. “It wasn't even a big distraction. They kept calling out the student’s names.”

    Remainder of Story

  10. Pilsungdo My 4 older kids are all black belts and have attended school here for 4 years. The owners are the nicest and best people I have yet to meet in Georgia. I would trust with my kids anyday .. and that is saying ALOT coming from me. I also love that they teach true self defense .. defense that you can use in real life situations.

I second Pil Sung Do. If you want to see what it is about they are having Black Belt testing today at 1:30. Come and be impressed.

  11. The question that remains is, what is it exactly that so many people see that wants them to be able to claim this "African ancestry"? Is there some perk or bonus. Does it get them into places that they otherwise would not be able to. Hmmm. There must be something to this. And here I was thinking that we are all equal under the law.

What a romantically naive statement that is. Do you truly think that everyone is treated the same by law?

There always have and always will be different classes of people (justly or not) who receive differing types of treatment under the law.

  12. Thank you for the poem. This is the second Mother's Day w/o my mother. I kinda blocked it out the first year but it is actually harder this year for some reason. There are still days when something happens and I think for a second that I should call her. sad_smile.gif

She valiantly fought that that damn cancer for 10 yrs. before it finally got her. I hate for her that my dad wasn't alive to help her through it.

  13. That place is notorious for that. It has happened to me on more than one occasion. The only time I go now is for the food bar. Not worth the hassle of ordering when they will serve the people behind you with the food you were waiting on <_<

I no longer go to this place. The last time I went there I tried to order chicken and sides for 20 people for a meeting. They told me NO. Not that it would take 30 or 45 min., but a flat out no, they refused to serve me. I went down the road a little and was gladly served a superior product. A friend of mine tried their grilled chicken and said it sucked. Don't know myself since I NO LONGER GO THERE, or any other kfc.
