  1. Art? Us, I think not, can't draw a straight line with a ruler!

Replacing 8 year old door jambs from rot (thanks lowest bidder) that as artsy as it is here this weekend. I am student at best at this but gotta try to not spend the money on new prehung, did that last week.

But thank goodeness there are folks like you guys that can make "pretty" :clapping:

  2. Thanks, juleebella!

But why did you chose to say, "I personally don't want my tax dollars going to people who thought they could live high on the hog when they knew darn well they couldn't, or were to dumb to do the numbers," instead of saying, "I personally don't want my tax dollars going to the greedy lending establishments that lent money knowing that folks couldn't possibly pay it back."

That is simply unbelievable. When people had to really qualify for a mortgage the folks thinking like you were all up in arms screaming it's unfair, it's unfair why do you get to own a house and I don't????

How about takng McDonald's money away because the obese people that eat there are costing me tax money for their health care.

I have had a FULL TIME job since I was 13, that 41 years now without one day of unemployment (except the weekend). Lucky? Heck yes but if I had to leave a job on Friday I darn well had one found by Monday. Making minimum wage is better than making nothing, period. Come on with the excuses..that's not enough, cost too much to go to work, all B.S. I waited until I could afford a family and house.

  3. I have lived in one HOA, when I first arrived in GA. I thought it to be way too strict. Since I bought here in Paulding in a sub-division with no HOA I wish I had that strict HOA back.

But I'd like a fair rule to everyone and every rule enforced equally.

  4. Ok, in english please?

OK, try again. If you need a little help because you are not sure where the turn, exit, crossover is; then slow down, turn on signal and come on in; glad to help. If you want to pass everyone that has been sitting at the red light forever patiently waiting their turn and then think I'm gonna let you in because you are late, too darn important, this doesn't apply to you, or what ever, then I will do my best NOT to let you in.

  5.

I know, repeat but can't help it...

Hey, if your not familiar with the roads and turns and find yourself needing to get over, please do so with a pause and a turn signal. if you travel the same D__N way every day and think you're more important then anyone else, rush past and want to get in, NOT ON MY WATCH BUDDY.

  6. In the early morning do not pace each other side by side. Have a little sense, either speed up and get in front of the other guy or slow down and get behind them, I'm tired of driving down 120 10 MPH below the speed limit at 0500 so you can talk on the phone. WHY BLOCK BOTH LANES???

  7. The new engine has the 2 wired clip coming from the magneto......all I have to do is add a switch to kill the ignition...simply enough, but the wire that was used originally runs to the tranny at the rear where the handle bars are....should I include this wire as well?

Ya see....that's one thing I hate about working on mowers that have been "rigged" by some "Tim the Tool Man"....!!

Well, I'm an airplane not lawnmower guy but it seems to me that there will be some sort of "rigging" done if you do not have access to the original engine layout. So, if it were me I'd determine if the wires going to the magneto is a power source or a ground. If there are two wires, I'd guess power to magento as ground would only require one conductor to short out the mag to kill the engine.

Second, ring out the tranny switch to find out when it closes. Is this switch used to enable or disable the ignition, in other words is it a KILL or RUN switch. I would think KILL would simply be a switch completing the ground circuit whereas the RUN switch would deliver vo;tage to the mag. Determine RUN or KILL by when the switch makes contact: in gear or neutral.

Wire them up the way you want..

Myself, I have to take mine in for repair, I never can fix it!!!!!

  8. Hiram Station put up real dart boards and is having tournments every monday night.

Komsameda (Thanks)! I shall take that and run. Do you have any info..open throw pot luck, league only, times, etc? See ya'll there?

  9. In an post gone by about opening a new night spot I brought up darts and my memories of long evenings of league play came back. Does anyone know of a local place that has metal (non-electronic, plastic) dart boards up so that a cool adult beverage and a game might be enjoyed?

  10. I have no details only a comment...

My son enlisted and shipped August of last year and one thing that he has said more than once was the recruiter was full of BS. A lot of the information he was given was in his words... "crap". He said that one day he wants to be a recruiter so that he can be honest with people. He said it wouldn't have changed his decision to join the Army, just his perspective.

Thanks for his (and all posters) service. I can only say this about recruiting: THE WORST JOB in my 23 years of service. An old saying is in recruiting you either get medals or court martials; nothing in between. I put in more hours in that job than I have in any other; military or otherwise. The times that a service member has looked me up over the years to say Hi and relate his story made it all worth while.

  11. You guys switching to DirecTv don't give up the $50 credit by having a current DirecTv customer refer you. You just need your friends account number and use a special call in number to order. Both folks get the $10 a month off for 5 months. Free money.

  12. He had paper work that was not updated that he stated he would send--Transcripts-- once he got them from the school. Which he never did. We did this for her and another recruiter took care of the issues that were not resolved via a liasion at the base where she was for basic.

Glad you got it worked out! My advice for anyone joining is to not sign the enlistment contract before and until ALL promises of anything is in the contract. Period. Mis-communications, mis-understandings, and yes bad recruiters (and bad applicants) do happen.

  13. well it's been 10 years but as a past recruiter-in-charge of a station I can tell you that no recruiter has any forms or files on someone that has left for active duty. All paper work accompanies the enlistee to the Military Entrance Processing Station where they joined. Additionally, we were not allowed to communicate with someone in basic training. Things may have changed.

  14. As with all services it depends on what YOU value. Research with a large grain of salt as with the vast majority of forums, each dedicated service forum has more complaints than praises. Ask yourself what is most important to you.

Internet: cable, how many customers are in your loop? Cable is a single drop from the head end/isp (w/amplifiers along the way) and the more people on line the slower it is. Older, electronically "leaky" cable is a problem. DSL is a dedicated line to your home but is limited in range from the CO (central office; the biege or green substations you see along the road), typically 1500 feet from the C.O. for the 6 meg service. As distance increases and copper wire ages the speed and reliability decreases. How much speed do you really need? Web surfing and email, not much. Downloading large files, more. Even though I have reliable 6.0 meg DSL service, I seldom demand that much from it. So far both customer services from cable and DSL is not that good and read scripts for troubleshooting, Bellsouth/ATT has been much better for ME. They have at least been able to tell me of a large area outage and then I know it's not my system. I check with them first before I start troubleshooting 2 routers, a switch, the XBox, PS3, WII, my home theater receiver, DVRs and subwoofer mangement system that are all connected either wired or wireless. Cable, put me on a list and we'll get to you maybe. Again, my experience here in Dallas and in Powder Springs at the old house.

Television: I go for the video and audio quality, technology, channel availabilty, reliability, customer service and then cost. For ME DirecTv won. If you require dual live buffers from a receiver or two independent TVs (rooms) from a single receiver perhaps Dish Network is better for you. My count has Direct with more channels (HD) then the other two, not ADVERTISED HD but real life minimum 720P (or better) programming. NO ONE can currently give you 1080P, DirecTV is beta testing it now, but what program material is available to watch---NONE, from anyone except HD-DVD or BlueRay. I have a program on my PC that allows me to check the bit rate of video as it is transcoded into my system. Facts: from top to bottom best to worst bandwidth (better resolution for HD); 1) OTA, over the air antenna, 2) DirecTV, 3) Dishnetwork, 4) Comcast. Note that as DirecTV has new satellites coming on line thier bitrate is steadily increasing while Dish's is degrading and cable is just bad.

Monitor (TV): Most HD TVs show standard definition VERY poorly, caution when you buy one. What do you watch most?

Connections: HD can be transmitted via two methods ONLY, over component or HDMI cables. If you have anything else, IT AIN'T HD.

Audio: Dolby Digital (real surround sound) can ONLY be transmitted over SPDIF (Sony Phillips Digital Interface). Must be either over the little fiber link or 75 ohm analog cable marked as such.

    Lesson over :D

Sorry for the long post. IT REALLY bothers me that stores sell people things without the knowledge or desire to inform people what they need or want and then gouge them for the cables and such.
