  1. Does she talk the whole time? I had a massage at my chiropractor's office while I was pregnant and all the massage therapist did was talk the whole time. I am there to RELAX, not play 20 questions!

That is a great price and I may have to take advantage of it!!

Do you know or could you ask if she has a gift cert. available for a massage at that price? I would think that would bring in a lot of people buying hour massages as xmas gifts. I myself would probably buy them for a couple of people at that price.

  2. Please keep your schooling first!! A job at 15 is all good and fun but dont let it mess up your education. Also, I think you should make sure you can work "during school hours" so that your parent(s) dont get into any trouble......

Homeschoolers do not have to stick to a ridgid schedule. That is one of the benefits. This child can work anytime she wants as long as she gets the required amount of schooling done. It can be at 8:00 at night as long as it is done for the specified amount of time. It is no different than any other teen that goes to school all day and works after school. Either way, school is what you make of it and a job doesn't mean you take school less seriously.

  3. Are you planning on staying local for college? I am looking for an occasional sitter for my kids, but want someone that will be around more than the summer because I like to find a sitter and stick with them...

  4. Ok, so I was a CO in another state for a short period of time. I am now done having kids and want to get back into the field, but don't know much about how it works here.

I just had my last daughter a month ago so I need to lose that baby weight and get in shape.

Where I worked before, you did not have to be a CO before being an officer, it was just easier to get into that position. I know that a lot of places down here require you to work at the jail first so is PC one of those? Also, when I was a CO we did not have to pass a lot of physical tests, it was only written and shooting tests. Does anyone know about here? I know that if I have to pass physical strength/running tests, I won't do it at the moment so I would need to train a little first. If you do have to pass that type of test, is it at the end of the hiring process or the beginning and how long does the process take? I know where I worked before, it took about 3 months to get hired because you had a written test, then multiple interviews, then a psych eval, then a lie detector test.

I have always wanted to be an officer so I have thought about just getting in shape and going for that, but I don't know if I need to work at the jail first. Also, I did enjoy working as a CO so I would be happy with that also. I may do it first anyway, but I want to know my options.

Does anyone have any thoughts to share on the process? If you don't want to post, feel free to pm me. When posting or messaging, please let me know what department you are talking about. I would love PC, but am also willing to look at surrounding departments. If you are an officer or spouse who knows a lot about how this works, please share. I just want to get a feel for it. Oh and feel free to warn me if some of the departments are not woman-friendly (I am sure that some aren't and I want to be happy where I work). Thanks!

  5. I will agree with the poster that said go to court. The system is there for a reason. ;)

Technically the system is there for people who really weren't speeding or who feel that they had a reason that would warrant speeding.

I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if you made your decision Gee-Tee, but I would just pay it. My hubby has tried to fight tickets in this state 2 times and neither time was successful. One of them, they SAID they would drop the points & then never did so he had the hike in insurance anyway & the other one they charged him the fine & the administrative fee. Not to mention both times took hours to do and were a waste of his time and a big headache. I know in the past, officers did not necessarily show up that often, but they seem to be showing up all the time now. I don't know of any person that has been to court within the past year or so and had the officer NOT show up. Even on their days off, they get paid to come to court so why wouldn't they?

I got a ticket last july and just paid it. I didn't want to deal with the mess.

  6. If it does manage to turn into a true killer flu like the 1918 flu, we should have a vaccine in fall when the worst might happen. Don't worry, Don't panic, just wash your hands, cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze, and stay away from sick people. You will be fine.

Well that is easier said then done when sick people refuse to stay home. They go to work because they need the money or their bosses get mad, they send their kids to school because they don't have sitters, they go to church, the store, etc... I can't tell you how many times I get sick from people at church especially. It just astounds me how many people are incosiderate and spread their germs. It is one thing when you are contagious and don't realize it because you are in the incubation period, but a LOT of illnesses would decrease if people would just use common sense and stay home when they darn well know they are sick.

  7. The rubbing alcohol & vinegar works good for infection. In addition a half rubbing alcohol half water solution is great to put in after swimming to dry out the ear & prevent the infection from occurung.

If the ear is actually clogged as your post suggests, they sell ear wax softener. My daughter has this frequently & we have to keep the drops in her ear nightly for about 3-5 days & then use a bulb syringe to flush out the wax.

  8. I'm not sure why you are experiencing the behavior. It sounds like another pop-up blocker is blocking. By chance are you using the AOL browser? If not, the easiest solution is to probably use the Firefox browser.

Ok, how do I do that? Do I have to download it? I have been using Internet explorer and it has a yahoo and an msn toolbar... Thanks

  9. I went online and found a bunch of jobs on yahoo jobs, but when I click to apply on any of the links, they won't open. I have tried to allow pop-ups from the website, tried changing my settings to completely turn off the blocker, and also changed to allow cookies and nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Thanks!

  10. This site might help...... http://www.gohs.state.ga.us/newbooster.html

CHILD HEIGHT & HEALTH EXCEPTIONS TO THE NEW LAW

Under the new law, if a parent can show that a child's height is over 4'9”, that child may be restrained in a safety belt in lieu of a booster seat. (Under the existing law, a child under six could already be exempt if the parent or guardian has a physician's written statement that a physical or medical condition prevents using a child safety restraint).

Children don't have to ride in a booster until that height. It is just that they can be exempt from the booster seat law (age of 6) if for some reason they are 5 years old & over 4'9". While it is still safer to keep kids in the booster longer, the law is still 6 (according to several officers that I know). However, my daughter is 7 1/2 and still rides in one because the seat belt stays where it should with the seat so I feel it is safer.

  11. Yes, and a legitimate lease purchase won't jack up the monthly payment too much. If they want you to pay $200 or more additional a month, I would be very skeered! Sure, they say it applies to the purchase price but in the meantime, it is going into their pockets. The thing is, it may be the time to buy, but you can't be positive of that. The market may tank for 2 more years and then you have invested all that money to "hold" the purchase price, but when you go to buy it the house is worth less. It is highly possible, my home dropped about $30k in value within a year so you never know. I am going to be renting & I have dogs and I would say half the people I talked to will accept them (and they are a large breed). Sure, some don't but there are plenty that will. I am ready to rent beause after dropping money hand over fist into a house via payment, repairs, maintenance, etc.. and now a huge loss, I am ready to take a break and just have someone else responsible for the big stuff. While renting may not get me anything, owning has gotten me less than nothing because I am in the hole. I am not trying to scare you, just think about all sides. I would either rent or shoot for a straight purchase though or try to find a lease purchase that is less likely to be a scam. There are some out there that will do it like a rental, but with a stipulation that you can choose to buy it later if you like or have first dibs on it. One of my friends did that. He wasn't required to put down a big payment & the monthly payment was about the same as renting.

Oh & I wouldn't get my hopes up about the $700 a month payment? I haven't seen anything that low except for trailers. Most of the things I have looked at are $800 and above to rent and/or lease purchase. And these houses can't be worth the $150-$200k you are talking about, I am thinking they are more worth $150k and under...Anything in the higher price range seems to be more like $1200 a month. Although I am sure the market will be different depending on where you are going.

  12. We bought one after playing it at the grandparents. We LOVE it. It has more child-oriented games than either the PS or the Xbox. It gets the kids moving, and it is fun for the parents to play too so we actually do things together rather than sit and watch a movie. (And it gets momma out of playing pretend with babies...YEAH!).

My rules are that the remotes are strapped on or you don't play. This is because I have seen kids get overzealous and throw the remote when they are playing. If the strap is on, it doesn't go anywhere. The only problem that I have seen is with regards to my one year old getting in the way. One of her grandparents conked her really hard on the head (at their house). I think that is absolutely ridiculous to be that engrossed in a game that you can't stop from hitting a child, especially as an adult. Needless to say, I also have the rule that if you hit someone while playing, you are grounded from the Wii for 2 weeks. If you are not my child & do this, you just won't play the Wii at my home. Fun is fun, but you need to be aware of what you are doing to.

So, as far as the system itself, I don't really see any cons. Just be aware that the players do move around a lot so you need to account for that somehow. If you don't have little ones it is not as much of a concern, but you still want to watch for tripping hazards or such. But, by setting rules, I have avoided problems. We have had ours for about 6 months & have had numerous people playing it and no one has dared to hit my daughter despite the fact that she likes to be in the room and pretend to play too.

  13. On the bright side, today is almost guaranteed to be better than yesterday :D

Seriously, what a rough day and I feel for you. I think you are handling the situation right, even though it is difficult. If you take the choice out of J's hands, he will always blame you and wonder "what if". On the other hand, if you allow them contact and raise him with the way you raise your own kids, he should have the smarts to make the choice to walk away himself when he is older and at that point he will be confident in this decision. Oh, and I am sure it goes without saying, but along the same lines, you have to refrain from talking badly about the dad to the child. Not to say that you can't acknowledge the problems, just do it matter of factly & not emotionally because he will also resent you for any nasty comments you make (I am sure you don't, but I have heard even my friends say some really dumb things to their kids about their spouses, etc.. so I feel the need to point it out). It is a really great thing you are doing. My husband and I really wanted our niece for similar reasons, but she is 12 & wants to stay with her mom & we decided that if we forced the issue and took custody, she would hate us so much that we would lose any positive influence that we have over her.

  14. I would be upset, but then I feel like the schools here are out to get everyone. I really hesitate to put my daughter in public school next year because of things like this. IMO, they have gotten ridiculous with all their rules. Sure, rules are necessary, but you always have to have reason too. One of my nephews (not a young child) went to the bathroom in his pants because he was feeling sick and the teacher wouldn't give him a pass to use the restroom :o . And in your case, I don't see what the big deal is since he was outside and school hadn't started. Even with my own kids, they get a warning as to what will happen next time if they do something I don't like. And no, it doesn't teach your child a thing to be in ISS when they don't do their work. It doesn't even really teach them punishment for actions when you don't agree with the punishment. It teaches them that their school as more say in their lives than their parents and I think that is just sad.

  15. Kids don't care about disabilities. Adults do. Kids are curious, but nothing more. I had an aunt that was born without an arm below her elbow. As a kid, I hardly even noticed it. In fact, I thought it was cool. She was my 1st grade teacher and I don't remember any of the kids having nightmares about her arm. Kids are very accepting. It is their parents who are not.

I think that depends on the child. I don't keep my kids away from those with disabilities, but I can tell you that my 7 year old gets very worried about things happening to her. Many kids go through an age where they worry about things like this and I can see how some parents would not want to add one more worry to their lives. My daughter is way too old for her age as it is. I don't think that any parent should be judged for wanting to keep their children innocent and happy for as long as possible. Yes the real world sucks, but as parents we can choose what we expose our kids to. I can see why some parents would choose not to have their kids watch the show, but then they can watch something else. They shouldn't ask for her to be replaced or anything.

  16. My daughter was diagnosed with a kidney infection and the dr. said that her rash is due to that. I don't see anything on the net about the two going together so I wondered if anyone knows if this is common. Not that I rely on information to be accurate on the net, but I don't want to just rely on the dr. either. Her rash is really nasty, all over her arms & legs. I just want to be sure that she doesn't have something secondary that I need to be worried about. If it is from the kidney infection, that is fine, I have just never heard of it. Since that part isn't contagious, I don't want to have her around others and spread the rash if that is something completely different. Any insight would help. Thanks

  17. I don't know if you personally know the people or not, but I would try to let them know that they can rent a house that will allow dogs and it will probably not cost any more payment than an apartment. Sure some people don't allow dogs, but some rentals do, you just have to look. We have been looking for a rental and have 3 dogs and have found quite a few people that will allow them. (They are a larger breed too). Just a thought because I know how hard it is to find anyone to take on dogs like this.

  18. There's also one in downtown Powder Springs, but I can't remember the name of it.

My cousin found an authentic LV purse there!

I would try the church consignment sales that are going on during Fridays & Saturdays the next two months.

They have great deals and many items are 1/2 off on Saturdays. I have found the consignment stores to be as expensive as buying new (and one was charging $5 more for the diaper bag I had just purchased at Babies R Us). Another good option is the outlet mall in Calhoun. The Osh Kosh & Children's Place especially have good deals & I can usually get separates for $4-5 a piece.

  19. I would just relax and wait for it to happen. Trust me, I tried everything with my 2 (Scalini's restaurant, pineapple, sex, walking, stripping my membranes, and even castor oil with one). Both were induced. I stressed myself out for nothing because those kids weren't coming out until forced! Being induced isn't bad though so don't worry. Good luck and you will have your baby soon either way.

  20. I just use a swiffer to broom clean and the vinegar/water solution to wipe them clean. They only need a misting of water, don't want it getting between the boards. ;)

Yep, I did just about anything. I swept with the vaccuum & mopped with vinegar or even palmolive. I bought the "special" laminate cleaner once and then switched to cheaper without any issues.

  21. I hope you guys can help me out. I am moving to Temple next month (Allgood Church Rd area) and need to have high speed. I work online and the programs I run will not operate off of dial up. I would think something has to work out there because we aren't THAT far from Atlanta & I know a lot of folks on here live out that way. So, what do you use? I called both At&T and Comcast and neither one of them show that they service that address. Thanks for any help.
