    Welcome back.

Maybe, you can show the state/county on how to do it right at the corner of Merchant Drive and Nathan Dean. Talk about a waste of taxpayers money, a rough turn and will have to do it again when they already had the equipment out there to fix correctly the first time.

  3. Yes I did,Dick the dick Donovan never called me. It was a great conversation. I asked a ton of questions. He explained some major concerns I had. Look I feel very informed, and will vote for him & call some of my friends and neighbors too. I feel that he answered very honestly, and filled in all the blanks.

Drew Laine needs to stay as our DAgood.gif

When Alexander Graham Bell invented the phone. It was meant to work both ways. So you may want to call Dick Donovan yourself and ask questions. His number is on his website. Also, it is a sad state of affairs when others feed you their point of view and you vote according without doing your own research. I guess this is just why this county, state, and feds are so Fraked up.

    G. Wolf

PS : After all how many 10's of thousand of people are in this county? And you got a personal call? Hard to believe. Is Drew related too you, maybe not. You could not spell his name correctly. So Sad.

  4. He then killed 4 people in an attempt to escape. I'm sure it was only "assult/rape" in your eyes and in DD's eyes, but the man KILLED people. What does it take to get the DP, in your opinion?

    See W4AL,

There you go implying that I and or DD thinks it was only "assult/rape" in our eyes. (Do you ever get any quotes right without exgerating?) When I stated that Brian was original there for assult and rape. Before he went over the wall and became a killer of four people. I think I would rather be in jail for assult than murder. But then I maybe a little sane.

  5. He then killed 4 people in an attempt to escape. I'm sure it was only "assult/rape" in your eyes and in DD's eyes, but the man KILLED people. What does it take to get the DP, in your opinion?

He should get the DP. But not at the cost of what a million dollars. But, you know he will sit in jail for 10 to 20 + years. So then what really makes it any different than Life without ever getting out.

I am still waiting for Manson to be put down. What about Hickley that shot John Lennon?

    G. Wolf

  6. That's fine G. Wolf.

My opinion of where we need to go in politics in general is toward a more united populace. Hence, with the exception of the murderer, rapist and child molester - all of whom have lost their right to vote as a result of their conviction, I really don't have trouble shaking anyone's hand.

But what I'm interested in, G. Wolf - and maybe you can tell me since you're such a bud with DD - is he really going to file a libel suit against WFAL? Or was Dick just being a bully?

    pubby

I may be considered a "bud". However, I am certainly not priviledged to what he does at home or on his job. If you must know. Then I expect that W4AL may exagerate something up to you and you can post on the Paulding Edition of the Daily Kos.

    G. Wolf

PS : As for your banner implying that Mr. Donovan is soft on crime. Maybe if you go back and read the whole statement and not clip off the first line. You will see he was stating that "The death penalty is certainly appropriate in certain cases." "The District Attorney's good judgment and a sense of proportion is essential in dealing with these tough decisions." Certainly after the circus surrounding Brian Nichols. After all Brian was original there for assult/rape. My question to you. Do you want every killer to have the same circus as Brian Nichols every time? Who should pay for it? After all how long does a person given a death penalty gets put to death quickly? What maybe after 10, 15 or 20 years?

Maybe you should replace the banner with "Pubby supports Drew and you will too if you want to post here". This will get your point across and show that you are not a hateful person. You think?

  7. IMHO :

Pubby is a BIG fish in a little pond (of vindictiveness and delusions).

    G. Wolf

PS : I do not shake hands with every person I meet. Also, do not forget to add your name and W4AL to the list above for future reference.

  8. Would you like for me to introduce you? :ninja:

I, too, posess the skills to fluff my resume while still keeping it factual.

Do you mean exaggerate? When my nieces were little girls they were taught to use the word fluff when they accidentally passed gas.

  9. Who has the most experience in prosecuting cases, the numbers are irrelevant. I do not want a rookie prosecuting Child molesters, Murders, Rape cases etc. Do you?

Also, here is a blurb from his website :

"Has completed specialized training by the F.B.I. in sex crimes investigation. He’s made arrests and prosecuted cases, among other crimes, for murder, rape, robbery, child molestation, family violence, and many, many cases for DUI. He will come to the District Attorney’s position with a wealth of knowledge which others seeking the position just don’t have. "

  10. The third time that you're referring to is when I commented about political signs in a thread about political signs. That is not at all inappropriate. By your own admission, DD had more signs out than Plumley and Lane combined.

    W4AL,

Yep, He does or did have more signs on Ridge Road (11 on Saturday). I saw 1 for Chad plus 6 for Drew equals 7.

But certainly not the 5 + to one ratio as you posted.

    I don't often go north of 278.

As for the south side, unofficially I would say there are close to 5+ DD signs for every Lane sign I see....except for the guy on 61 between New GA and Villa Rica who has Lane signs the whole length of his property. At 4 way stops, I'll see 1 Lane sign surrounded by 3-4 DD signs.

I'd be interested to see how the south side voted vs. the north side on county wide positions."

Again, showing your blind hatred and vindictiveness (because you used his signs in an exaggerated math) There were two other people not running for DA that had loads of signs on that road. They could have been used as an example.

If you are going to state your opinion as fact. Be prepared to be checked upon. But I guess, you will blame the mowers, the wind or supporters running out there to remove 19 + signs.

Just a suggestion. Listen too CeeJay advise about attorneys. I only fear that Pubby has given you enough rope to put you in trouble and is calling it free speech. But when your opinions goes into the realm of being vindictive and trying to ruin a person. (As you have stated you will feel vindicated after August 10th.) Then I wonder when does free speech cross into hate speech? Just my opinion. Something to think about. Again, you could have filed a complaint and got your point across.

    I feel sorry for you...

  11. As I said in regard CeeJay, I admitted that I missed that first comment in late May... Or at least it didn't really register in my mind as having anything to do with me and DD.

As far as Surepip, Soundguy, Whitey, Maddox, etc. bringing issues to the fore, I say good. That is the whole idea behind pcom ... to bring voices to the forefront. And do know if they had been sent a letter threatening libel in their cases I would have been raising hell as well (They haven't because theirs is also protected speech in those cases!).

You miss the point on the WFAL affair. The bar for libel is so high in cases involving libel of a candidate or public official or public figure/celebrity that anyone with any media law experience knows that he hasn't got a case at all - no chance what so ever. It is not like any specific fact, from her firing him to her hiring another attorney that got results she liked to whether or not he was prepared would make any difference. The essential fact - that she hired him and she fired him because he didn't produce makes it all protected speech in the context of a political campaign.

His letter was an attempt solely to bully a single mother into silence before the election, which, while it is on its face legal, is showing utter contempt for the free speech rights of citizens guaranteed under the constitution. (Walking around waving a nazi flag is legal too but you don't elect someone who does such a stupid thing.)

That is what ticked me off. The personal insult of being called wideload ... I let that slide and would have ignored it for eternity had he not insulted the first amendment. The lack of judgment shown by dissing of the first amendment by someone aspiring to be the DA' is, well, frigging dangerous IMO.

So, if I believe that, what else can I do but oppose him openly?

Beyond that, I'm sure he is a fine, church going guy and, while you've known him for five years, I've known him for close to 20. I was basically fine with his candidacy until he showed his true colors with the first amendment. Now I think it would be a disaster if he were elected.

    pubby

PS: I suspect that if we had a candidate for the legislature that promised to introduce a bill banning the sale and ownership of shotguns in Georgia to a small gathering of anti-gun nuts and it got out, folks would be raising holy hell out of concern of the idiot's disrespect for the second amendment. I would be among them ... because it is so silly, stupid and illegal.

I see Donovan's use of his threatening letter as an indication that he may, at the drop of the hat, seek gag orders in the cases he tried to bar the press from the courtroom. I know none of the judges would buy it but if he tried in this case, he may try in others because of his lack of respect for the constitutional guarantee of freedom of speech. Gray Wolf, acts always speak louder than words and that letter was a chilling act.

Again, I post. Is there anyone here that has first hand knowledge of the events? Otherwise it is opinion or hearsay.

I do not see you raising hell to assist Surepip against the Bullies in charge? Sounds like you are selective, or should I say Bias?

"(Walking around waving a nazi flag is legal too but you don't elect someone who does such a stupid thing.)" Maybe true, but in this county it may be some other flag and they do get elected. (IMHO).

Frankly, If I worked on someones computers and got slammed on a forum. You bet I would have an attorney writing a letter. I have rights as well or has that been forgotten? OR, would you consider that I was slamming the clients first amendment right? I rather my rights be protected in the court of law then in the court of public opinion.

I bet if Mr. Donovan tried a gag order as you describe. The media will give him the what for... (or at least you, after someone reports it here).

As for W4AL to keep posting the same dead horse takes it from opinion to being vindictive. May cost him future clients and maybe the DA office. So I guess hiding behind this "political season" is okay to slam someone and think that they should not have anything happen.

Sometimes it is better to keep your opinion to one self and go thru the courts to get even. Especially if you are right.

  12. G. Wolf:

Okay, so Dick Donovan was pissed at WFAL and that is why he called me wideload out of the blue. If you read that entire thread you'd know that no one - me included - either endorsed or rejected WFAL's initial comment. It stood on its own.

Now, I think you know - I certainly know - that I'm not responsible for what you say, what COWA says, what Deadeye says, what anyone other than I say on the open forums of this board.

So why are you saying that Dick was justified at calling me wideload because, three weeks earlier WFAL wrote what she did. That is a stretch, you know.

Frankly, I was not 'against' Dick until WFAL came to me with notice she was considering providing a retraction and apology for her comments because Donovan wrote her the threatening letter.

Until then, I was okay with Donovan. I knew he was arrogant - the video was taken on June 18th and you didn't see it then, you note - because I wasn't for or against anyone in the DA's race until I got the PM from WFAL relating the threat. That was a bad move on his part. To me it trashing the first amendment

That bit of bullying of a member her pissed me off and led me to the conclusion that this guy has no respect for the first amendment.

I've not seen anything since that would change my opinion.

As far as the other issues you raised...

... how often did you read about them in the AJC, Neighbor, Sentinel or New Era. You know about them because of paulding.com and because of my commitment to the first amendment's protections of free speech.

The reason I came down on Dick Donovan is because I am aggressively protecting those freedoms from an attorney who thinks he can invoke libel to bully people into being quite. Do you think I would have been any less aggressive had the county attorney threatened surepip? Do you not think I've encouraged those who want to talk about schools to insist that they be given the information they are entitled?

Let me just say, I glad you had lunch with Dick Donovan and that your reading of his dry sense of humor excuses his being plainly rude to me in your mind. And you know, we may even be on the same page with the Groucho analogy ... Dick could well be a joke.

    pubby

    Pubby,

I never said that Dick was justified in saying Wideload. And if had read this thread you will see that CeeJay/Wideload made the correlation first. I mentioned it but you address me. Curious. I just commented that you stated the tape was June 18, 2010 before anything was posted negatively about Dick. Which is not true. W4AL posted her comments on May 26, 2010 in your forum.

As for the other issues I raised. Sure not in any other paper. But you certainly did not raise the issues, maybe mistaken here. I learned of them thru those(thru their posting) that were in the know or have been affected by this county. Example : Whitey and the Taxes, Mr.Dis and the Fire tax, Surepip and his ongoing battle against the county staring with Jerry Sherin and onto the current administration. Is the county attorney and the county tying up surepip's day in court not being a bully. Spend the taxpayers money, let employees go. But keep surepip out of court. Sound like the county and their attorney are being a BULLY. Still do not see you raising the flag to help.

Again as for W4AL. It would have been one thing to make her comments in a forum that she started and give her assessment of Dick. But, she keeps going into different threads with the same dead horse. How long can a person rattle a cage and expect not to get attention? Well, she has it now. And now you are in it as well. Is there anyone here that was with Dick and W4AL and has "FIRST" hand knowledge of what was said? Otherwise it is hearsay and or opinion. I know that people may bend the truth to get the sympathy card. Frankly, some here have tried Dick in the court of public opinion. When this should have stated private (IMHO). W4AL could have stated off the radar. Filed a complaint with Bar association and /or hired another attorney and go after Dick.

And again, You did not answer any of my question about getting to know Mr. Donovan.

I do not think that a dry humor is justifying being rude. Certainly Mr. Donovan is not a joke. I have known him for about 5 years. I would want him to represent me. I certainly would want my day in court quickly. Not to be run into jail via zero tolerant (See how that works for the schools).

    Sincerely Yours,

    G. Wolf

  13. CeeJay:

I know that he wasn't ticked off because the video was taken at the GOP picnic on June 18th - a week before WFAL made her comments and before there were any negative comments on paulding.com.

It was taken when I was wandering around the GOP picnic and he just came out with that in his typically arrogant "I'm the only person that counts" demeanor. I was going to walk up and interview him and give him a little earned media, as they say, but he decided to insult me instead.

Obviously, I turned off the camera. I blew it off and forgot about it because that is just the way he is and has always been. (His personality is one of the reasons I've never supported his candidacy any time he has run. I've never openly opposed him or suggested he is the wrong guy for this office ... until he threatened WFAL ... which is what tells me this guy is not just not my personal pick, but would be a disaster in office.)

I know his 'resume' of experiences, including law enforcement, etc. would seem to be a good fit for that post. But that little snipped of video, which shows his true personality, does sum up why he never won an election and why he shouldn't win.

The greater reality of politics is that a lot of folks don't know the candidates very well. And so when someone calls them a pompous ass they figure it is because the person calling names is the ass because they've never seen that side of the guy.

It wasn't until last Thursday that I went back to see if I could find the clip. It just occurred to me then that this little bit of video may clue folks to who Dick Donovan really is, without having to call names. I mean, I'm no glutton for punishment and I sure am not eager to be known as wideload, but hey, I figure by failing to use my name (he knows it), he just insulted every fat person in Paulding.

    pubby

    Pubby,

Seeing this comment was in the Poll dated May 26, 2010.

Ceejay : "I'm sure he was pissy then, this is from May 26, 2010: http://paulding.com/...ost__p__3170534"

Blows this statement out of the water.

Pubby : "the video was taken at the GOP picnic on June 18th - a week before WFAL made her comments and before there were any negative comments on paulding.com. "

I wish you were this aggressive on the property tax increases, the airport, the new courthouse, what reservoir, school tax, builders not helping with the infrastructure or the case of the county spending loads of money to keep Surepip from seeing his day (according to Surepip).

I mean there are bigger fish to fry in this "good ole boy" county. But it seems that an outsider is worth going after. So are you part of the problem or part of the solution?

I am a native Georgian from the country. But I vote based deeds not words.

How well do you know Dick Donavon? Been to lunch with him (I have)? Gone to his church (I have)? He does have a very dry sense of humor (mine is dryer and I do it real well with a straight face)(I also have been on the receiving end of his humor. I does not bother me.) Think Groucho Marx. Have you been in court and saw him in action? (I have, He was great and kept a 14 year old boy from being tried as an Adult.) I am sorry that you would take a small snippet and use. It seems to me you are bias this time.

Mr Donovan is a good man and is the man for the job.

So I guess in my opinion, you are part of the problem.

There are at least 3 links that W4AL keeps bringing up DD. The first I saw was a thread for a bankruptcy help. DD does not do bankruptcy but W4AL gave her two cents on DD. Then again in the pole that Ceejay listed above. Then there was the thread about signs and W4AL "Observation" stated that Dick Donovan had multitudes of signs. I drove the length of Ridge Road yesterday. Chad had one sign, Drew had 6 signs and Dick had 11 signs. But not the five to one signs that W4AL eluded too.

I bet if I started a thread about homemade pies W4AL would post something negative about DD.

I really have to ask any of you negative folks out there have you really met Dick Donovan? Or as CeeJay pointed out just make up your minds based on what Pubby and W4AL posts?

Makes me wonder why we keep getting the same results...

    My 2 cents.

  14. I don't do church or hotdogs. But if there is a politician that craps on someone I don't vote for them. I figure if given the opportunity that same politician will crap on me.

I have been around long enough to know that a good, hard working person makes a better employee than a cocky, highly educated person. And these politicians are our employees.

Then I guess you have never voted. Because I really see that none of the feds, state or local politicians really remember they work for us.

    G. Wolf

  15. yep,

When I was putting out signs last Monday. I came across a few Commissioner signs that were down. I put them back up. They were over on Ivy Gullidge and Old Cartersville. Basically, I replaced any sign that were down as I was out.

    G. Wolf

  16. I live north of 278.

Been down Ridge Road. Nothing compared to up here. Northside Elem, had about 15 to 20 signs for Drew on the outside fence compared to "DD's" two sign.

As for cost of a sign, 100 two-sided sign will run about 3.81 each for a total of $381.00. Depends on where you buy.
