  1. Ok here is my gripe.....I DID receive the letter, I read it, laughed at it and threw it away as I do with all junk mail. I thought nothing of getting the letter as I get junk mail everyday. My problem is that the same letter was sent to my SON. I am pretty sure that my 10 year old son is NOT a mother nor ever will be. I am against soliciting a minor. My son obviously has no drivers licence (as the only thing he drives is me crazy) and he is NOT registered to vote so, were exactly these names and addresses came from is beyond me. I would though like to find out as I would like my 10 year old SONS name removed from this and ALL other junk mail mailing lists.

If your son was registered for birthday parties at a local ice cream shop or restaurant. That would be a possible place for him to be on a mailing list. One never knows to whom a customer list will be sold.

  2. Nothing from Donna here. I wonder if her husband knows that she is sending all this out? I would be getting a Divorce attorney if I found that my wife was sending notes to strangers looking for money.

They might as well used "Jones", "Greens" or "Browns".

    :-)

  3. **********HI-JACK*********

    MY favorite bear joke:

How do you catch a polar bear?

cut a hole in the ice

open a can of peas and pour them around the hole in the ice

When the bear bends over to take a pea, kick him in the ice-hole!

    HEHEHEHE

    Now that is different.

  4. An atheist was taking a walk thought the woods. "What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! what beautiful animals.!" he said to himself! As he continued walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes.

Turning to look, he saw a 7 foot grizzly charging towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. Looking over his shoulder, he saw that the bear was closing in on him.

His heart was pumping frantically and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw the bear raising his paw to take a swipe at him. At that instant the Atheist cried out: "Oh, My God!...."

Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent!

It was then that a bright light shone upon the man and a voice came out of the sky saying, "You deny my existence for all of these years, teach others that I don't exist and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"

The atheist looked directly into the light, "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps, could you make the BEAR a Christian?"

"Very well," said the voice. the light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed.

The bear lowered his paw, bowed his head and spoke, "Lord, bless this food which I am about to receive and for which I am truly thankful."

  5. When people come to me for computer help. Because their computer is running slow. I give them all the options on how to fix. I do not make them play 20 questions. I do not wait until they drag the answers out of me. Nor do I say "yep" your computer is slow. You will need a new one. Oh I have one right here for a song". So on that note. I feel that a doctor that is treating someone should be forth coming and truthful. Anything less, I would have question motive and money. Next time you are at a doctor's office look around at the free samples and tell me if it not about money.

  6. Vaccination are good. However, If the rights to this vaccine is held by one company. Then it is a monopoly. And for them to be throwing millions of dollars to our lawmaker to get a bill passed. Mandating we use the vaccine. Then it really amounts to "profit". Our lawmakers should be crafting laws for the good of the community. Not passing laws that are crafted by special interest group to ensure profit. That is what appears to have happened in Texas.

  7. Well, lets play hide the meeting. I went to www.Paulding.gov. Checked under News and Updates. No mention of this town hall meeting. Zippo, Gone. What Meeting. I did a google search for "luke Paulding". Found this weblink :

    http://www.paulding.gov/newsupdates/details.asp?id=406

This points to the meeting. You go there and guess what. "No records found."

However, if you take the cached link :

    http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:eT0UY...;cd=5&gl=us

Low and behold it did exist on paulding.gov. It disappeared from the paulding.gov after 02/28/2007.

But, before the "yes" people say "oh well, it is old news and they removed it". I see stuff on news and updates dated from 11/07/2005 to 06/30/2007.

    http://www.paulding.gov/newsupdates/default.asp

I even did a search for "planning" and "town", NOTHING, about monday's meeting.

Talk about insulting a person's gray matter. I guess they want to keep the meeting a secret? or keep the unwanted away. roflol... Another "sad", "sad", "sad" game.

I took screen prints. If anybody doubts. I will "PM" them and they can post.

  8. Hello everyone,

I am new to Paulding County (here only 8 months) from FLA and I have some questions.

We were faced with this same dilema in our county where we we basically "scared" into voting yes for a school bond because of overcrowding and were told if it did not pass we would have to go to double sessions. I guess my first question is how can teachers be asked or "made", for that fact, to teach for that many hours? Is there not something in their contract that would not allow that? If that is the case, where are they going to get all of these new teachers?

Second question is WHY is collecting impact fees illegal in Georgia? We attended the Cedarcrest Action Group meeting and the Commission Chair Jerry Shearin was in attendance. When the question was posed to him about impact fees all he kept saying was it was illegal but never said why. In the county I came from, if a developer wanted to build in our county they had to either donate land or money for the purpose of new schools. Each new home buyer also paid over $3,000 in impact fees. This money went to the school board.

I have heard good points on both sides of this issue but I am still unsure of how I am going to vote. From what I have heard so far it sounds like more needs to be done to make developers bigger contributors.

    Sorry for the long post.

It is to my understanding, from an story in the AJC, that developers may have had an hand in crafting the "Development Impact Fee Bill". I have request via email for a copy of the story from the AJC. No response yet. However, last year HB 637 was introduced that would have included schools in the "Development Impact Fee". The bill died. This year there is HB232. It has some changes in it for the "Development Impact Fee". But, schools are not part of the equation. This HB232 may work but one would have to look at the whole "Development Impact Fee" bill to ensure that there are no caps that makes the bill more bark and less bite. The real thing is that legislation appears to be written by Special Interest groups. Example being the Pay day loan bill that is going thru the General Assembly now. (http://www.ajc.com/opinion/content/opinion/stories/2007/02/28/0301edpayday.html). When in fact the bills should be written by those that the tax payer voted to represent us on issues. We had trusted they would do what is right for the community they represent and not that of Special Interests. Welcome to Paulding. Welcome to Georgia.

  10. She was not called b/c its hard to trace every lost or missing animal back to the "lost book" when there are like 10+ filled out a day and then people usually dont give a photo so its hard decide what animal fits what description. That is why people are told to check back EVERYday or call everday.

Glad she found her dog :p

    Lisa,

Thank you for your reply. That is understandable. I know the job there is tough. I know the numbers of calls/missing pets are high.

I too am glad that her pet is back.

    G. Wolf

  11. Gray Wolf ~ Paulding County Animal Control Shelter does everything in their power to find the owner of a stray dog, including callling the owner or vet listed on any tags. Many times these numbers have been disconnected, the owners never return the calls, the tag information is years old or the owner does not reclaim the pet.

All missing pet owners are advised to call the shelter when their first report is made at least every 2 to 3 days, if not every day. If the pet was not there at that time and showed up later, it would be given a minimum of seven days to be found. Three days before being put up for adoption. It would not be at risk for euthanasia until it had been at the shelter for at least a week.

If, as you say "they were getting ready to put her dog down" then she must have been there at 5-6 o'clock on a Wednesday morning?

This leads me to believe that there is more to this story. Statements such as this can be harmful to the shelter whose employees work very hard caring for lost and missing pets.

bluebird ~ The number to Paulding Animal Clinic is 770-445-6185. Give them a call and they'll be glad to get you in touch with the owner.

I am sorry if I offended you. I am sure that the shelter does every thing they can. I am sure that others have exceptional service. I wish there was more to this story but there is not. I received the phone calls of her crying over the dog being gone. The call over the anger that her dog was nearly put down. I just wonder why she was not called when the dog was found? She did leave a contact name, numbers and description of her pet. Sometimes things will fall between the cracks. Thus resulting in our story. I am sorry that the statement can be harmful. But what happen to us was real... Maybe next time, we will have a better experience.

It is like any other company in world. I can recommend a great food place. You may go there and have really bad service. But what happen when I went there was real. I certainly would not question you if your time at a food place was bad. It still does not make what happen to either of us less real. I try to look for the good first.

  13. You are better off contacting the vet first. My daughter had lost one of her dogs. She searched for days. She even went to animal control and placed a notice/description. She kept looking. Three day later she went back to animal control. They were getting ready to put her dog down. It had showed up there after she posted. They did not call her or contact the vet. The dog had a collar with tags. She was real lucky. It seems that someone at animal control did not care enough to do the proper thing that day.

  14. Your Welcome. Note I added a little more for clarity.

    Again, Thank you.

To not change the subject to much. I recieved my new voter card with the following information. Anyone knows why we will be holding so many "Special Election" and what they may entail ?

  15. Where did you locate mil rate numbers that went into your calculations.

Saying "per" means it will go up the same % the following year, that is not the case, its a one time raise although I am curious where you got your mil rates from.

  18. is the best?? Don't need all the bells and whistles, but would like to purchase a nice one. Any ideas?

    Try Lenovo (IBM brand)

    http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/en/

    http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/control...E8E19B36EC665A7

    Or try a Gateway.

I know that Lenovo may be a tad more. But I have not had any issues with them. Sometimes you can get a great deal. Just have to look. Depending on usage. Main things to consider is get the biggest hard drive and as much memory you can afford. If you can not go for the biggest hard drive. May want to consider an external drive slightly bigger than the internal hard drive for backups.

  19. Couldn't get all the links to come up due to an error message but pulled several. I have no idea but you could e-mail him at jshearin@paulding.gov and ask him. It did indicate he has 15 acres so maybe he cut his house out and put the rest in a ten year conservation plan. Maybe one of the experts on this website could provide other possibililties. :D

Thank you for your reply. If he did cut has house out and did a 10 year conservation plan. I would expect two tax bills to cover. I am going to schedule a meeting with the Tax Assessor's office. To shed some light on this issue.

  20. Lets not cloud the issues here. Your links don't go to your and the anonymous BOC members taxes. You wanna raise something then throw it out there completely. I feel your post is an attempt to mislead folks into believing that the BOC members are getting cheaper taxes then others. If they are then lets see it!!!

    Mine :

I will not provide my links. However, what I listed below is accurate for 2006.

    2006 : FMV : $345,000, Assess : 138000, Bill : $3,100

I am not misleading anyone. Even if I had left the "BOC" out of my statement. I simply want to know why a house valued at $417 K pays less then that of a house valued at $345K. I am sure that there is a logical explanation. Such as a new exemption or a new tax law .If you know of any reasons. Please let me know.

  21. Will someone please explain why my house Fair Market valued at $345,000 +, assess at $138,000 + with taxes of $3,100 +

Then I see a certain BOC with the following : Fair Market Valued at $417,000 +, asses at $166,000 + with taxes of $1,800 +.

Tax records are public and located at :

    http://65.77.74.204/pauldingcounty/Disclaimer.aspx

    http://65.77.74.204/pauldingcounty/NameSearch.aspx

    Enter last name....

Then we have another assessment this year as well as a possible bond.

What could make such a difference in taxes ?
