  1. Everyone should call AT&T and complain. We called a couple of weeks ago and they said it was our phones. We did everything they said, including new sim cards,

and still have more dropped calls then ever with any service. When our bill came on Friday they had given us a credit of $22, we would rather have service.

  2. Did the number show up as Paulding County...770-443-8983? I got a call from that number about 11 this morning...the phone only rang twice and they hung up....I have been trying to call it back ever since and it is continually busy.....reverse look up says its unpublished, but for 14.95 they will give it to me!!!!!!

They called us on Monday and yes it was from that number.

  3. Well, mine came home complaining about the cafeteria which ran out of milk so they had nothing to drink with lunch (not even a cup of water). Also his bus ride is over an hour each way so he was not in a good mood. I'm sure he will survive seems fine now.

  4. We had ants for over 20 years until last year when a friend recommended ant stakes. You put them outside around the house and no more ants!!!

Nothing has ever worked more than a couple of weeks. I did replace them this year. My dad always called them piss ants. too.

  5. You could start calling lawyers and asking for Michelle if you don't find out.

Lesley, What is the difference between attorney and lawyer?

OR PM Mason Roundtree, he might know.

Attorney: Any person legally empowered to act as an agent for, or in behalf of another.

Lawyer: A person who has been trained in the law, esp. one whose profession is advising others in matters of law or representing them in lawsuits.

    Goodnight pcom

  6. Let's look at these issues:

She had you and your partner set up as employees. There is no right or wrong way to do this. We have clients who are in partnerships who take payroll--it's just a way to turn a non-deductible pesonal expense into a deductible business expense. It's perfectly fine either way. The payment to the IRS and the state of Ga for payroll taxes would include withholding on your wages (for both state and federal), the Social Security and Medicare taxes *and* the company match on your wages and I'm guessing also the unemployment taxes. So this set up was neither wrong nor right. It just wasn't what you wanted. First year in business, you probably didn't need the additional expense.

A huge disaster had the checks been sent in: not really. The withholding taxes would have gone toward your income taxes withheld, so that's not a problem. The Social Security and Medicare taxes would have gone against your portion of that which would have been paid through self-employed taxes on your tax returns. No "big disaster" there either. The company match on the SS/Medicare and unemployment taxes would have been business expenses, which in turn would have reduced your taxable portion of the income. No huge disaster there either. Again, not the way you wanted it set up and also again, in your first year of business an expense you probably didn't need. And on the unemployment taxes we're talking $341.50 TOTAL in taxes for two people, so that is no huge expense.

As to the question about whether or not you should pay her: I'll answer this from both perspectives, that of a business owner (various times since 1986) and as someone who currently works in the accounting field. Absolutely. Pay her the full amount and make sure you get ALL the original information you sent to her as well as copies of anything she produced for you. She did the work, albeit not the way you wanted it done. Apparently, she did it in April, which ironically is the busiest time of year in an accounting/tax practice. There are times you don't know what day of the week it is, just that it isn't yet April 15.

And Busymom was correct. Dennis Hallman with the Georgia Department of Revenue is a wonderful resource to have available. We work with him on a regular basis. Additionally, on unemployment issues, the Georgia Department of Labor has helpful people (the Cartersville office serves Paulding County).

If you, or anyone else, has questions about someone's qualifications to do accounting/tax work, don't just rely on the fact that they have a business license, insurance or are incorporated. Anybody can do these. CPAs are licensed by the state, enrolled agents (EAs) are registered with the IRS. Get referrals from other business owners. They will let you know who to use and who to avoid. Oddly enough, most people are more than happy to tell you about their accountant.

Great answer, most people don't understand there can be many different ways to handle tax situations.

  7. If you order pizza or food from a restaurant, are you considering the gas prices these people are paying to bring your food to you? I am very curious as to the thought process behind people that don't tip at all or tip only a dollar. Delivery drivers do not get the delivery fees that these places charge and they generally make minimum wage. If they drive 10 miles one way to your house (yes, that happens frequently), that is a total 0f a 20 mile round-trip which in a lot of gas is the equivalent of a gallon of gas or $3.00. So, for people who don't tip -- do you honestly think it is fair for them to be paying gas out of their pocket to bring you food? Even if you live within a mile of the store, the driver is bringing your food instead of someone elses and deserves a tip. I just want to see if people honestly dont think about these things or what their reasoning is. Maybe you just haven't thought about it, I don't know. However, as gas prices go up even more, if it isn't worth it for drivers to bring the food to you (ie: they aren't making enough to cover gas), they will quit and delivery won't even be an option. One other question - if you don't tip these drivers - do you also not tip waitresses at restaurants? If you don't respond to this post, please at least think about it the next time you order in. Please be sure that you are least compensating the driver for the gas to your house, if not adding anything extra to his pocket.

I did not know any place would deliver 10 miles, every place I have ever called had a 5 mile limit. The closest pizza place is less than 3 miles away and I

tip $3. I never thought about increasing this because gas prices have went up, however I would tip more if it was 10 miles.

  8. it's possible that they were saving them until the end of the year to send in one big batch?? I least I hope this is the case!

I thought that might be the case so I sent an email to the PTSA person and received no reply. I get email from box tops every month and they recommend

sending them to your school twice a year ( around Thanksgiving and several weeks before school is out) so that the job will not be so big for the person collecting.

Anyway with my son being in 8th grade I could not just send them with him because he never remembers, so I sent the email to ask.

Also they have a contest every month for a large amount( 5000 to 10000 usually) and all you have to do is enter on the web site.

  9. I have been collectlng these and sending them to my son's school for several years. The school PTA usually collects them, this year no one was collecting

( at least they did not answer my email) so I still have mine. Are you saying we can send them in ourselves and our school wiil get the credit? That would be great as my son will be in high school next year and I would still like to collect these for some school.

  10. We take ours to Auto Zone in Hiram. I believe Advanced Auto Parts can take it, too. They do have a limit per person so you might want to check with them

first if you have a lot. We make sure we take ours before we get over 5 gallons.
