  1. All of the little signs that are put up on corners by individuals and the mass subdivision directional signs are in violation of code. The mass groupings of subdivision signs are put up on Friday nights and taken down on Sunday nights only because the companies that put them up know that the county road departments do not work on the weekends. They are simply skirting the sign ordinance. VANDALISM??? Is it possible to vandalize litter? That is all they are!!! Litter that is spoiling the roadways for everyone so Jimbo "Wildman" Smith can sell a house in the Subdivision of the Month. They put up so many, I doubt there effectiveness. These types of signs are not allowed in Douglasville and the city ordinance folks work weekends and will write you a ticket in a heartbeat. Their streets sure do look pretty compared to ours.

I agree..I would like to see them gone as well.

  2. I thought it was a way to show the people who put them up that they need to remove them and keep them removed. I belive there is some type or ordinace against them being left up during the week.

I agree about the ordinance. I think that has been on the books for a long time and they let the real estate guys slide because they only have their's up on the weekend and then they take them down Sunday night.

HOWEVER, the spray painted signs look tacky. I feel like I am living in downtown and there is graffiti sprayed everywhere. If our county's aim is to reduce and eliminate those signs (an aim that I support) taking them down and throwing them away has just as much of a deterrent affect as spray painting them, and it makes the county look a lot better.

Please county guys, pick them up...don't spray paint them and leave them standing. You are taking a bad problem and making it worse.

  3. I have a question about those signs. You know the ones: "We'll buy your home for cash" or "Got Junk?" those kind. In South Paulding where I live, they used to tolerate those signs for awhile and then somebody would come by and pull them all up and dispose of them. That was a good thing.

Now, however, on my side of the county, instead of picking them up and throwing them away, someone is simply spray painting over the number and leaving the signs up in a defaced condition. That looks worse than the sign did originally.

Is this something the county is doing or is it random acts of vandalism? If it is the county, PLEASE just throw the signs away. Don't leave them standing with spray paint all over them.
