if you are a handy man.or even a little handy you can probably do it yourself with a lift. I hung 22 pieces of Sheetrock with a lift in 6 hours on a 9 foot ceiling. Lifts run $200 . but you can probably rent one for a third of that.. that's screwing it in.

Yes I know. Unfortunately my right rotator cuff has been rebuilt twice so the days of doing overhead work like that are pretty much over for me

  2. Hi,

    I have 2 questions:

First, I need to speak with someone who really knows what they are talking about in regards to a damp crawl space and what I need to do to make sure it is correctly fixed. It would take too long to type all the particulars of this situation here but if you know of anyone who really knows what they are talking about here, please either IM me or email me. My email address is: successfulone_1962@hotmail.com

Second, I have a storage building that is beginning to show some minimal moisture issues inside. I think it is absorbing moisture through the slab and also through the roof. The moisture issues are showing in the top are of the building in the loft. When it was built, I specifically asked if I needed a vent on one end and a fan on the other to draw out moisture and was told that was not needed so it have no vent and fan across the building to draw out air. Again, anyone if you know anyone who really knows what they are talking about please IM me or email me at: successfulone_1962@hotmail.com

    Thanks

  3. I purchased a used John Deere and was pretty pleased with it compared to the Sears I had before, everything on it just seemed better built and more likely to last.

However, my opinion was reversed when the drive belt broke. I paid the 20+ bucks for the belt at the JD dealer, then discovered that NOWHERE except the $200 "Repair Guide" can you get instructions on how to replace the $@#$%^$% belt!! The mower is still sitting in the shop unuseable because it appears to be so poorly designed you have to pull the PTO off the engine shaft to replace the drive belt!

Any belt is a consumable item in a product like this and it should be designed for reasonable replacement and the replacement should be covered in the owners manual. The only reason I can for it not being covered is that it is a major operation which is ridiculous.

John Deere lost a customer for life with that design.

Either look at a "throwaway" cheap mower or if you want to pay to get a good one that will last, make sure that all the routine maintenance items can actually be replaced without a major service call.

Are you kidding me? You spend that much money on a John Deere and then have to spend $200 more for a repair guide? Are you serious? If so, thats crazy.

  4. Well my Snapper finally gave it up after 20 years and I am going to have to buy a lawn tractor. My budget is under $2,000.00 for a new one if possible. If I could find a good used one I might consider that as well. My question is this: What brand is the best value for the money? I have about 2 acres of relatively flat land to cut. I have seen the John Deere's at Home Depot. What about Husqvarna, Snapper or any of the others? What has been ya'lls experience with any of these or others and what would you recommend?

I might consider a VERY good condition used lawn tractor also if anyone knows somebody who has one.

    Thanks,

  5. Hey folks,

I need to find a dog house for my son's puppy. It doesn't have to be fancy. I think I would prefer one of the igloo style ones but thats not definite by any stretch. Do any of you know someone who may have one they would be willing to give away or sell cheap? If not, any suggestions on where to find one new retail at a decent price (i.e. not PetSmart or someplace like that with huge retail prices.)

    Thanks in advance.

  6. After trying to sell my house for nearly a year in this market, I recently gave up and decided to rent it out for a year or two until the market recovers. I figured that since no one was buying then they must be renting. Apparently they aren't renting much either because I am having no luck with that either. My question is this: Do any of you know anything about property management companies that handle renting your property for you? How do they work? How are they compensated? Anyone know of any good ones? If so, please PM me with suggestions.

    Thanks,

  7. First and foremost, I do not know either of these two gentlemen personally. I have met them both briefly on several occassions and do not have an overwhelming opinion one way or the other on either of them based on my firsthand knowledge of them. Also, the only dog I have in this fight is the fact that the winner of this election will have a certain amount of influence over the quality of life in this county and the future that we and our children will have. I have absolutely no personal connection with either Mr. Shearin or Mr. Austin.

With that being said, most of what I know about both of these men comes from what I have observed in how the county has been run over the past 8 years, what other people say, and most recently, what the candidates have sent me in the mail and showed me on television. To hear either of them talk, you would think for sure that their opponent was Lucifer himself. Their is an old song by Dire Straits which has a line in it that says "Two men say they're Jesus, one of them must be wrong!" Based on what they have said about each other and then proclaimed about themselves, there is absolutely no way that someone, if not both of them, are not bold faced liars. One says something is 100% true and the other says it is 100% false. Somebody is lying in a big way. I am not sure who it is, and I dont need the surrogates for each one to post on here and tell me why their man is right and the other is evil incarnate.

Then today, I received a letter from Jane Austin. I read it and laid it down and opened the one from Mrs. Shearin. Now each man has THEIR OWN WIFE in on the act. Absolutely pitiful. If it is that important for either of these men to gain and have power, there ought to be huge red flags about both of them. In the letter from one of the women, she stated that both candidates and their families actually ATTEND CHURCH TOGETHER!! I do not know what church they attend, but I can ASSURE you that if they went to my church and were acting like this in public, BOTH of them would have been called in and talked to by the Senior Minister and the Elders. What an embarassment to the Body of Christ. I sincerely hope that their church leadership has rebuked them both for they way they have run their campaigns. For those of you who are non Christians, you may not understand this, but in the Body of Christ, we are all connected and certain behavior is expected from those who would be leaders in the church and in the community. The Church has the right and the obligation to correct the non scriptural behavior of it's members. I hope the leadership from their church will do this.

These two men seem more interested in a power play between them and we are being used as the vessel to carry that out. I, for one, wish that neither of them would gain the office that they both so desperately seek. Paulding County deserves BETTER THAN THIS FROM BOTH MEN!! They both ought to apologize in front of the entire county before a single vote is cast, but that will never happen. I really wish there was another option or a "None of the Above" on the ballot. It is a shame that these are the only two choices we have. I do not know which man got into the mud pit first, or if they both ran in at the same time, but they are both covered up in it now. And the sad thing is, both of them seem to be very comfortable there. I truly wish that NEITHER of these men would be running our county.

  8. As some of you may know, my wife and I are remodeling her old family homeplace. As a result, we would like to sell the home we currently own which is located off of Dallas Nebo Rd. The market is slow and we recognize that we are going to have to be flexible with price and terms to make something work for both us and any potential buyer. The house is listed with a realtor who also happens to be my wife's sister so that gives us some additional flexibility.

If any of you know someone who is ready, willing and able (i.e. they have the desire as well as the financial and credit ability) to purchase a home priced in the mid 100's, please refer them to me. If the house sells and closes (i.e. money and ownership changes hands) then we will pay whoever referred this person to us $500.00 cash after closing.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me.

    Thanks,

  9. My wife and I are remodeling a house that we will soon be living in. I need to find shower units, a tub, tolets and sinks for the bathrooms at a reasonable price. I have looked at Home Depot and Lowe's already. I also went to the Home Depot Expo and saw some $10,000 showers. Are there any other places within 50 miles or so of here that would have a good selection of tubs, showers, toilets, sinks etc at reasonable prices? Maybe a wholesaler or something like that?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  10. I have a Snapper riding lawnmower that I bought in 1988. It needs a new clutch as it will barely pull itself along anymore. Everything else works well. Any idea of someone who does reasonably priced lawnmower repairs who could replace the clutch?

If that is not an option, what type riding lawnmower would you buy if you were buying a new one and where would you go to buy it?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would prefer to repair the old one if its not going to cost me more than it is worth to do so.

    Thanks,

  11. My wife and I are remodeling an old farm house to live in. We are trying to find a new front door (36") with 10" glass side light panels and a glass transcom across the top. I went to one of those builders supply outlet places and found one for nearly $3,000.00. I went to Home Depot in Hiram and it was between $3,500.00 and $4,000.00. Anybody know of any place that I might could find a door like I have described here for a more reasonable price? I would even consider having someone make one custom if you know of anyone who does that kind of work and does a quality job for a reasonable price.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I need to move on this pretty quickly.

    Thanks,

ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta forward Shelden Williams escaped without injury when he was carjacked at gunpoint Saturday before the Hawks' game against Charlotte.

Two suspects were arrested with his car hours later.

Douglasville City Police said two suspects were arrested late Saturday afternoon at Arbor Place Mall in Douglas County, near Atlanta. The suspects were in Williams' car and were attempting a robbery, according to an officer who answered the phone at the Douglasville Police Department.

The officer, who declined to give her name, said one suspect was taken to a hospital after suffering dog bites from the police canine unit during the arrest.

As of late Saturday night, the suspect was still hospitalized, but his injuries are not serious, according to the Douglasville police. The officer said the names of the suspects wouldn't be released Saturday night.

Fulton County Police spokesman Gary Syblis said Williams was approached by two men outside a barber shop. One man pulled out a gun and demanded Williams' keys to his 2008 Chrysler, according to Syblis.

Hawks spokesman Arthur Triche says Williams provided police with the license plate number of the vehicle used by the carjackers, leading to a search that led to two suspects being arrested at a mall in Douglas County. Williams' car was found at the scene.

"I'm just glad that he's safe," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said.

"Cars and things like that, jewelry, money, all that can be replaced."

Triche said Williams' car was damaged when found.

Williams reported to Philips Arena before the game but missed the team's pregame workout. He made his first appearance in the game against the Bobcats late in the third quarter and played only two minutes.

For the season, he's is averaging 3.1 points and 3.1 rebounds.

Williams' teammates said they were just glad to see him unharmed.

"It's so sad what happens out in the world today," Marvin Williams said. "Guys work so hard and for someone to come up and take it from you that quick, it's sad. Shelden is a tough guy. I'm sure he'll bounce back from it. I just thank God that nothing happened to him."

Shelden Williams told Woodson and other team officials about the incident when he reported for the game. He said the car was stolen outside an Atlanta barber shop.

Williams declined comment to The Associated Press before the game but told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution "It's been a long day, but I'm fine."

Williams huddled with a Hawks' security official in the locker room after the game. He did not make himself available for interviews
