  1. From the IT perspective on this issue!!!

There are scrupulous people out there who will open a network and list it as "Free Public Wi-Fi" so that others will connect. Their hopes are to steal information from your system. The only way they can do this is if you are connected to their network, and your system is not joined to a network domain. My first suggestion to anyone out there that is thinking about running around to public places to connect to the internet is to DISABLE FILE SHARING and ANY TYPE OF SHARING on your computer system prior to connecting to the public wireless access point. My second suggestion is to move your computer out of the default WORKGROUP that MS Windows places it in. Depending on your OS (Operating System) you may be in MSHOME or just WORKGROUP. I always instruct people to change it to something unique (last name, pets name, street you live on) to ensure that even if you do connect to a Free Wi-Fi point others cannot freely surf your system. Third, Do not leave your system un-protected without passwords. If you are going to connect to free public wi-fi ensure that you use login passwords on your system. You can never be too safe!!! Just connecting to free wi-fi and checking your bank account can make one heck of a headache down the road!!! Finally, Never...and I mean NEVER purchase anything online while connected to public wi-fi. If you transmit your credit card information over someone else's network you never really know what their system is setup to do. It may cache all internet information and now your information is in the wrong hands.

    Happy Wi-Fi Hunting!

    Carl

P.S. There are small USB type devices that you can purchase to detect wi-fi signals. They come in handy so you don't have to walk around like a complete doofus with your laptop out looking for a strong signal!!!

  2. I will have to defend Jump 4 Joey's....they DO have staff that is on the floor all the time....

As far as them playing with my kids.....isn't that my job? It's not a play to take your kids for someone else to watch them...it's a place to go so you can enjoy time spent as a family!

  3. Well my son is in the 3 and under category so it was like 50 dollars. I think for anyone 4 and up it's 75...but don't quote me on that!!

The greatest thing I forgot to mention about it is that adults play for FREE when they take their KIDS!!!

I can't tell you how much fun I have...(at 30 years old)...getting up there and sliding down with my son. He is so active...and just loves it when mommy and daddy play too!!

It's a great evening to spend as a family......we went over last week after I got off work and spent about 3 1/2 hours there......

  4. I just wanted to put out here that the new Jump 4 Joey's in Hiram has got to be one of the funnest indoor inflatable play places my son has ever gone to. He has been there three times now and everytime we go he has even more fun. We purchased a season pass...and I'm sure he will have many fun times there! If you're looking for a great indoor place to take your kids in the heat of the summer you can't pass this place up!!!!!! The folks that work there are VERY friendly...and it's much cheaper than most of the other indoor facilities like it. Honestly....you can pay like over 100 bucks to rent ONE inflatable for a few hours....or pay some ridiculous cheap amount to take your kid there ALL DAY!! I'm pretty sure they do parties....and I know they have a website...I just can't think of what it was off the top of my head!!

Anyways....you've gotta check this place out!! It's AWESOME!! And as my 3 year old says....."I wanna go back to Jumpin 4 Joey Joe's"....

  5. ActiveX controls are not always a "BAD" thing. Just be sure you are on a reputable site such as Microsoft.com, Adobe.com or one of the other major companies before you go ahead and install the ActiveX they are trying to get you to install. The ActiveX virus types aren't new, but they are much more popular now a days. You can disable ActiveX if you would like....just one more way to stay safe.

  6. Hey, I think US Marine NCO and I could be friends! Is that my mirror?

Tow, I just call it like I see it. I don't give a rat's a__ about anyone's feelings but my wife's and my son's. Everyone else that matters is either gone from this place or know's me well enough to know I don't give a __t!!

    Carl

By the way......when this is all over.......bring your signs to my house and we'll have a huge bonfire.........let that non-speller bring his signs too.....we can possibly burn a forrest down.

  7. Dispatch: Person Dead - 416 Twin Oaks Lane - Twin Oaks Subdivision

(Cross street is Old Yorkville Road)

    37yo male

Caller was 10-82 (Hysterical, Emotional or Upset Person). Saw male (her friend/boyfriend) in vehicle with his head down. Bloody and bruised. Caller unable to give further information, refused to go back outside.

    (Call log 6:54 - 7:09 PM continued on 7:09 - 7:25 PM continued on 7:25 - 7:40 PM and further). I'm still listening.

  8. Okay...rumor mill said that someone here shot themselves sitting in their truck in their driveway. I wasn't about to take my son out there to see that so I'm not really sure. I'm listening to back logs of the scanner to find out. Was anyone listening between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM (could have been a little sooner) and hear what was going on? Address could be something in regards to "Twin Oaks Circle".

Thanks if you got the info!

Cops seem to be gone now....they had the crime tape out from what I could see from here....and I'm the highest house on the hill so I can usually see quite a bit!

  9. Man US Marine NCO, you sound like a total candy @$$. Are you sure you're a marine? When I was in the Marines we used to burn entire forests down with napalm! My idea of saving trees is using fallen leaves as toilet paper! Now that's recycling Marine Corp style!

    Semper Fi!

Well when I was a "Marine" we used a capital "M" in the word Marine. We also called it "Corps" vice "Corp". I guess it's true what I hear...those of us now a days are much smarter than those of yesterday. Is it time for you to get your diaper changed yet?

And let me add.....can a person not make a joke without someone being a ___ing retard about it?

    In other words....."***** OFF"

  10. Barnes and Nobles (No other book store will do)

Olive Garden (A restaurant that does well no matter where it's at)

Micro Center (I hate driving to Marietta for PC parts, and I really hate ordering things and waiting on them)

Express (My wife is the one who wants this one....and if they built it...she would come)

  11. We're concerned with who owns the right-of-way but not whether or not the signs are made from recycled materials????

I say....."You don't own anything unless your house is actually PAID FOR IN FULL. If you're making payments...the bank owns the right-of-way!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  12. Squirrels have a SEASON though. If he is shooting, trapping, killing, eating, whatever out of season he is subject to a fine or jail.

You need to read the last paragraph on this page, and then contact the Wildlife Management Agent in your area. Most likely what this idiot is doing is illegal.

    http://georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us/con...txtDocument=461

I'm honestly all about revenge....so I would probably steal his traps.....relocate them to miles away....something of that nature. I'd also ensure that his tire pressure in his vehicle was ALWAYS LOW. Not flat.....you can pump that back and not thing anything of it....just low.....and do it every night. This way he is forced to go out and buy new tires.....less money for animal killing!! And last but not least.....if you see him out there torturing the squirrels....video tape it...as disgusting as that may seem....it will pay!

  13. Lol. Oh gosh...be watching the news for an update! Did ya'll here about that poor guy who's wife died and someone at the hospital stole her wedding rings?!

Well.............how much was the ring worth? Is she really gonna need it in the after life? The person who stole it....are they going to sell it so they can feed their 18 children? All of these things play a factor in this theft.....mind you.....theft is wrong no matter how you put it....but I like to put the ethical spin on everything.....Hmmm........maybe I should run for office....I'd print my signs on recycled material.....would kiss babies....(and their mom's if they were hot)...and I would never steal from dead people..... Now....do they have a position in Paulding County that pays about 75k a year...and doesn't require me to work but 1 to 2 days a week...every weekend off...and 4 weeks paid vacation a year.....also going to need the use of a Govt. vehicle, a spending card and a gas card.........VOTE FOR ME!!!!!!!

(Now ya'll know I'm only kidding right....dispicable that someone would steal a wedding ring of the finger of a dead woman)

  14. Okay...sorry to burst everyone bubble but here goes.

From the perspective of someone who is an IT expert...12 years in the field...and work for a major electrical company in Cobb County doing IT.

Vonage....cheap service...if you're looking for the "cheap" way out you're fine here. Keep in mind, you get the VoIP Router that connects to your Broadband router. The phone line plugs into that VoIP router and then you have a single phone. You CAN integrate the system into your existing wiriing in your house but this is not for the amatuer. Yes...you can use a cordless phone with it....but every experience I've had with the cordless had horrible static in the line.

Comcast VoIP.....first...by a show of hands (I know that's impossible)...who has experienced a Comcast outage in the past 6 months? ::raises hand::....I pay them an arm and a leg for my 8mbps service...and when it goes out...I call them and complain. It happens a little too often....so....that being said....no internet...no phone!!!!!! Let's just think about that.....you're having an emergency.....your child is choking....you reach for the phone...it's dead...and soon...so is your child!!!!

Last but not least.....do you have a home security system that is linked into your existing phone system? Did you know that most of those systems do not work with VoIP....and some will only work with it if you go out and get extra equipment?

Just a few things to keep in mind when looking to save that almighty dollar......I switched from BellSouth to Vonage....less than 30 days I switched back to BellSouth.....Vonage's service was horrible...and on top of that they refused to give me back my phone number...(litigation pending)....

    Carl

  15. Okay call me lazy....I didn't bother to click the link.

Is this a day or night game? I'm not sure if I even have that day off.....12 year Veteran of the Marine Corps.....recently left Active Duty...and love this program.

If you PM me I would love to get my family involved in helping out at the ball park!

I almost never refuse a chance to get out and see the Bravo's play some ball!

    Carl

  16. I'm damn near tempted to have you come out and do mine just because I feel sorry that the fence didn't get up fast enough to keep you in business. I agree with you on the issue discussed.........personally.....don't know why they didn't use the "economic stimulis package" to finish the border securing project. Can't figure that one out for the life of me......all of this is of course the reason I will be writing my 3 year old son's name in on the ballot this year for President.....he could do a better job than any of the 3 candidates out there....and quite honestly....I don't care if this rubs any of you wrong. I served 12 years in the Marine Corps....recently left...and I do believe that entitles me to say just about whatever I want to say when it comes to what I defended!

  17. My almost 3 year old still says..."Chick da faway" (chick-duh-fuh-way) for "Chic-fil-a"

He's probably the cutest of any cute kid in the world....but of course....I wouldn't be his daddy if I didn't think that! :)

  18. How many bedrooms and baths does it have?

It's 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. The basement is completely finished and has a half bath (hence the 2 1/2 baths). It could easily fit a corner/stand-up shower I just got yelled at by the wife when I mentioned adding ANOTHER shower to the house that one of us (most likely here) would have to clean. So needless to say we left it at a sink and a toilet down there. It's still a great room down there....plenty of space for a teenie booper that wants their OWN SPACE!!!! :o)
