    Ok, sorry it took so long to reply. I am getting new dentures and they use wax to make a replica of what the acrylic ones are actually going to look like. Well after that appt I kept feeling like something was stuck in my throat and that was the only thing that made sense. Well it got to feeling so bad and when I took my nighttime meds a couple got stuck in the same spot. Went to ER and no wax but pus pockets from strep. Lol!! Anyway thanks!!

    Have you tried the daycare centers around you? They dont advertise much but most are usually seeking help. You might kill two birds with one stone. Getting a discount on daycare plus a job.

    Why can't Jr win??? Because Jimmie wins them all. It's all in the script...

    Amen, that is what I have been saying the last couple of seasons. I dont ask if anyone is watching the Nascar race. I ask who's watching the Jimmy Johnson Show. And another reason Jr. doesn't win or get any where is he sux. Bottom line. He is only where he is today because of his name and OLD sponsor.

    Actually,i go to only one steakhouse and only use one server for more than three years now.Yes i know the days she is off,and she know exactly what i drink and mostly eat...we have been on first name basis for years. I tip very very well.It cost me 30 bucks to eat out by myself once a week.Plus i always get VIP `d. :D

     

    Heck i probably paid half of her tuition.LOL

    Employees in restaurants are paid direct wages of $2.13 by the employer, but don't be fooled into thinking that's what they will only receive if you don't tip. Employees are required to declare their tips and when an employer pays the waitress/bartender their combined wage(tips + $2.13 hourly) it must equal the federal minimum wage, which will be $7.25 next month. So every employee you see working in the restaurant is making at least $6.55 ($7.25 next month) an hour.

     

    Tipping seems to be done now more out of guilt as opposed to gratitude. I have also found that a higher percentage of people tip based on their perception of tipping than the level of service they receive. Example : Some people tip 20% no matter the service they receive or some people refuse to tip no more than $5 no matter the price of the bill.

     

    Servers have definitely come to expect tips (which is perfectly fine because it has been customary for well over 100 years) which makes it a little awkward to deal with sometimes. There are just too many factors that decide the level of expectation for a tip.

     

    I don't necessarily agree with the entire concept of tipping.... I think it has lost some of it's original intent. I also don't understand why you should tip a percentage of the total bill...I'll give an example:

     

    Table 1: Table of 4, 2 adults with kids, they order soft drinks and meals....obviously, the kids will order from the kid's menu which is cheaper. They also have a lot of requests(more ketchup, more refills) and the children make one heck of a mess (food all over the floor, sugar packets emptied all over the table).... total bill $35. Tip = $7.00

     

    Table 2: Table of 4, 4 guys, they order a couple of pitchers of beer and they all get a meal. Easy going and don't require much attention. Total bill $60. Tip = $12.00

     

    Does that make any sense to you? You eat at Longhorn's.... why should I have to tip more because I ordered a bottle of wine with steak & lobster as opposed to the guy who got a cheeseburger with a water? They both should receive the same level of service but the tip could differ by $10.

     

    That's my educated thoughts and experience with it. I've owned numerous restaurants/bars and served thousands of customers...

    as far as the employer getting to pay that is pretty near impossible. they will claim they saw you put more money in your pocket than you actually claimed. and when you call the BBB ON THEM YOU LOSE YOUR JOB, SO ITS A NO WIN SITUATION FOR THE SEVER.

    HIJACK*****Speaking of Waffle House, I was at the Dallas WH on Saturday, and this is what I got my coffee served to me in, yes, that is black yuck stain in the cup. I asked for a new cup and got it's twin yuck cup.

    Yes, I still gave the waitress a $5 tip, she was great and she not's responsible for the poor management decision NOT to replace the mugs. Won't be going back there any time soon.

    uh, excuse me? not her fault- yes it was her fault. she had the choice to clean the cups better (or offer you a to go cup). that is her JOB. once a week the cups are supposed to be bleached and they will be clean for the customer. it has nothing to do with management buying more cups. furthermore she still had about 200 other cups to choice from to put your coffee in. and yes i know for a fact i worked for WH for 23 yrs. as far as tipping dont base tipping on the service you recieve once. we all have bad days. if it happens regularly with the same server, refuse to sit in their station. if they are the only ones there go somewhere else or wait for someone else to come in. remember this is still the USA we do still have the freedom to eat where we want. and then you can get the service you so desperately want when you chose yourself. vent over.

    for the past 30 yrs. we have put together a phone, address and birthday book with all family members in it. tell family members ahead of time to send pics of them and add that also. we are just to lazy to attempt that part. we also put pages about who had babies or got married the last year or is going to in the next year. and we dedicate a page to family members we have lost along the way.

    Coming from Hiram on 92, go through the intersection at Crossroads (there will be a Kroger at that intersection). Go down to I think the first light, and turn left on Seven Hills Boulevard. It is on the left next to CVS.
