James Herbert Bankston, age 87, of Dallas, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2006. He was born on July 25, 1919 in Madison Co, AL to the late Jim & Lula Bankston. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a member of Abundant Life Church of God. Mr. Bankston was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945 as an Army policeman in Rome and southern France. His medals include, WW II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 3 Bronze SV Stars. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Bankston. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Bankston of Dallas, Rocky & Diane Bankston of Dallas and Rev. Kent & Tammy Bankston of Dallas; his former wife, Bertha Baker of Dallas; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. from Clark Funeral Home in Hiram with Rev. Thomas Blagg officiating. The interment will follow in Melrose Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
