HIRAM, GEORGIA 30141 770-445-7133 FAX-770-505-7273 NEWSPAPER OBIT Meek Mr. Thomas Irvin Meek, Sr., age 84, of Douglasville, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2006 at his home in Paulding Co. He was born on November 1, 1921 in Paulding Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel B. and Bessie Arnold Meek, four sisters and one brother. He served in the United States Navy as Gunners Mate First Class in the Pacific Theater during WW II. A life long member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Irvin was a farmer at heart and retired as Chief Building Inspector for Paulding Co. in 1990. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Jean Yancey Meek; sons, Thomas Irvin Meek Jr. and his wife Sybil of Douglasville, Steven Yancey Meek and his wife, Melissa of Douglasville and Jon Reid Meek of Douglasville; grandchildren, Jon Shannon Meek, Audra Paige Segers and husband, Mark and Daniel Thomas Meek; extended family, Louise McCoy, Austin and Angel Zavala, Ann and Richard Harper and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home in Hiram with Dr. Gil Watson and Rev. Harry Hawkins officiating. The interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethel United Methodist Church, 1444 Bethel Church Rd., Hiram, GA 30141 or Heartland Hospice, 5990 Love St., Austell, GA 30168.
