That other white meat ...

Recommended Posts

Looks like starting monday their will be a glut of pork on the market which should drive the price down at least until the farmers start closing the doors and go out of business.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China has slapped extra tariffs of up to 25 percent on 128 U.S. products including frozen pork, as well as on wine and certain fruits and nuts, in response to U.S. duties on imports of aluminum and steel, China's finance ministry said.

I am OK with that -- I will continue to read labels to make sure the human and dog foods are not from China, Asia and some other places. If I don't find anything on the labels, I don't buy them.

I don't like pork at all.

75% of pork products are produced by just four large corporate conglomerates.

Nice try.

:acute:

Pork isn't the only farm products on this list, America's small family farmers will suffer the most because of Trump's stupidity and this is just round one.

If we could only find a tribe of cannibals somewhere....we have an oversupply of fat-azz Democrats we could export.

Funny...I don't recall you freaking out over the damage Obama did to the coal industry.

Once they run out of cats they'll have to go back to pork.

You know that is offensive, especially to those who like sweet and sour pork.

And like the chicken industry, they contract out significant portions of the business of growing the pigs. They do this because it effectively externalizes their risks and puts more of that risk on family producers. Because of their advantage in access to capital, I suspect they actually welcome this as it will give them the opportunity to buy out the family-owned producers and corporatize an increasing percentage of the business expanding their share of the market at distressed, below market sales.

Funny...I don't recall you freaking out over the damage Obama did to the coal industry.

And I don't see you showing a whit of concern about Trump distorting the stock market. I wonder what kinds of plays they're doing behind everyone's back ... you know, let's make some money by shorting Amazon.

When you recognize all the ways that actions of government can be gamed and you put someone like Trump whose entire career has included game playing (casinos, golf courses, mob contacts) and you see the impunity his organization exploits emoluments and you have got to know they're playing every angle.
