gpatt0n
LiveScan backgrounds now offered by City of Hiram Numerous jobs require background checks from both state and federal offices before a person can be hired or licensed. Among those are jobs at defense contractors as well as licenses for occupations such as Real Estate Agent. The city of Hiram has acquired the equipment to conduct those checks electronically and are now providing these services to local businesses and individuals in need of an authorized federal criminal history for employment or licensing? They call the system Livescan and it was recently purchased by the city using SPLOST funds. Livescan is, essentially, a sophisticated scanner and personal computer that captures fingerprint images and demographic data and submits this information to GBI. GBI conducts a search of its criminal history records using the fingerprint images. In some cases, these images are also forwarded to the FBI where a Federal Criminal History Record search is also conducted. There are many jobs that require the prospective employee to be fingerprinted and provide an official background check through the Georgia Crime Information Center. With the purchase of the LiveScan system, the City of Hiram is now a local, expedient option available to the Paulding area and beyond. “We recognize that there is a demand for these services and those in need should not have to travel far to obtain their personal records at a reasonable cost,” commented Robbie Rokovitz, city manager for the City of Hiram. “Our LiveScan system provides yet another layer of convenience for individuals who must present a certified background check in order to begin employment in their field of choice,” Rokovitz continued. Below are the fees for the fingerprint and background check: From a release provided by the City of Hiram.
