Mary "Louise" Pendley

Ms. Louise Pendley from Hiram GA passed away on Thursday, 9/23/2010. She was the wife of former City of Hiram Mayor, Dewey Pendley. Louise was known and loved by many in the county. Rest in peace, Louise - you will be greatly missed by friends and family.

 

 

 

Obituary:

Mrs. Mary Louise Pendley, 82, Calhoun, GA, formerly of Hiram, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Morning Pointe of Calhoun following several months of declining health. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, September 26, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, with Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley and Rev. Joe Buckner, of Roswell Street Baptist Church, Marietta, GA, officiating. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, GA. Mrs. Pendley was born in Paulding County, July 10, 1928, daughter of the late Albert T. and Selma Morris Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Dewey P. Pendley, Sr., who was the former mayor of Hiram for 27 years; three brothers, Albert Smith, Jr., Harold Smith, and Jimmy Lee Smith. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley E. and Joe M. Stepp of Calhoun, GA; a son, Dewey P. Pendley, Jr., of Marietta, GA; one grandson, Brent L. Stepp and his wife, April T.; three great grandchildren, Kelan, Sophie, and Jasper Stepp all of Calhoun; three sister-in-laws, Edna Smith of Hiram, Hazel Hand of Concord, and Jeanie Smith of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews. Louise was an active member of the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce and various community activities throughout her life. She attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, GA Chapter, 922 E. Morris St., Dalton, GA 30721 or Heyman Hospice Care, 420 E. 2nd Ave., Rome, GA 30162. The family will receive friends, 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta.
