gpatt0n
Sam Nunn, former Georgia Senator and CEO of the Nuclear Threat Institute, talks to the Chautauqua on July 19 in this CSPAN video. A worthwhile 'view'. _____________________________ Click for RECENT TOPICS click for RECENT TOPICS click for RECENT TOPICS
gpatt0n
You've got to listen to the first five minutes to hear the advice Herman Talmadge gave Sen. Nunn about answering 'nut mail' ... the letter asking about flying saucers, bigfoot, etc. To do that you'll have to endure the anecdote about NY Senator Depew who had the honor of introducing President Taft. That one had me ROTFLMAO. The serious part, including the questions and answers, is however, extremely enlightening and educational in the full tradition of the Chautauqua movement. I would encourage anyone to whom the word Chautauqua is alien, to become more aware of it, its history and especially how it impacted the education and competence of the typical American in the period from the 1880's through about the rise of radio as a mass public medium. pubby PS: While the initial image of the Senator is small in the window, once it begins playing it will go full frame. I listened to the entire speech and it was very interesting, He has been talking about the same problems for many years now about securing the necular weapons

Hell no? Why? Because we're being pulled by two extremes. That segment, one of the first QnA in the video, speaks to that and the importance of the center to stand up and be the adults ... because the extremes are just a bunch of whiners without a clue. pubby
