Reverend Byron James Smith, age 40, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010. He was born in Columbus, GA on July 27, 1969, and was preceded in death by his father, James Smith. Mr. Smith was a salesman for CSC Flooring and he was a member of Wayside Baptist Church in Dallas, where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Darlene Dobbs Smith; sons, Collin James Smith of Rockmart and Cason Noah Smith of Rockmart;

mother & step-father, Margaret & Frederick M. Bailey of Powder Springs; brother & sister-in-law, Todd Alan Smith & wife, Rita of Hiram; sister, Karen Tompkins of Gainesville; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Jan & Earl King of Acworth.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at 11:00 AM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Brother Billy Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens, with Jason Morgan, Mike Bell, Monty Day, Roger McEntire, James Mathis, Richie Bell and David West serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, Wayside Baptist Church Building Fund, 840 Wayside Lane, Dallas, GA 30132.

Clark Funeral Home, Hiram, GA, is in charge of arrangements.

I lived next to Byron growing up. So sad - prayers for his family.
