gpatt0n
Hi folks: There was a topic posted by a member who is a member of the site and works for intuit that was talking about a contest for small business grants and about the community that intuit is creating. Here was the topic: http://www.paulding.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=196649 I did enter it and obviously encouraged others to enter the contest at the time. One trick is that folks have to vote for folks and you have to register on the Intuit site to do so. The package they're offering for members includes a public profile. The benefit of doing this for your business is that it will increase your search engine rating because you can post your website link on their highly rated site. Further, you're all encouraged to post your 'business story' in the contest. There are 50 winners of $5,000/ea. (and a video camera) and then those folks are able enter additional submission that will offer one grand prize of $25,000 and four first prizes of $10,000, each plus some new bookkeeping software. Notably, if we can all work together and vote for each other's applications, we may get one or more in the top fifty. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were four or five local winners? With 40 to 60 percent of the weight of the vote based on our ability to network and help each other, it is possible. Obviously, I am encouraging folks to sign up there as it is probably good for you and your business in terms of ranking in the search engines. I'll add to that benefit that if anyone on the site gets into the top fifty, you'll have my help in doing the video to compete for the $25,000 prize ... including use of the studio here at pcom. (You can give me a tip out of the $25,000 if you win ) Anyway, to vote for the topics I've submitted - the links follow - you'll have to register on the site. Do it, don't do it, it is up to you but it does look like a pretty good resource. Indeed, the the tool they present regarding how to better market through social networks - web 2.0 tools like pcom is worthwhile and I plan to use portions of it in the March 5th seminar at Stars and Strikes. here are the links: http://community.intuit.com/contests/av8IAeuFiqllvkab8P4pmk http://community.intuit.com/contests/doBO_EuF4qllvkab8P4pmk Kidzart has also registered with a couple of stories. http://community.intuit.com/contests/dgwbmku2Cqllvkab8P4pmk http://community.intuit.com/contests/bQB-MQu2Cqllvkab8P4pmk They are obviously targeting business members but folks who use quicken for handling their household accounts and those who may be thinking of opening a business are also encouraged to help. Lets get some of their money circulating here in Pcom land pubby
