  1. What type of training will be given? Will it be simple command type training like sit, stand, heel? Will it cover behavioral issues like running off, snapping at you when reprimanded, chewing, etc? I would be very interested in these classes if it covers the latter of the two. Also, is the price per dog? And if so....is there a discount if you have two dogs? Both of which are have completely different demeanors. TIA for the information.

  2. Does anybody here go to Medix for Medical Assisting? I went to Medix in 2000 for 2 months but had to quit. I am wondering if it has changed alot since then. I have already talked to them and I am eligible to come back and re-enroll. I am trying to decide if I want to go back & complete Medix for MA or if I should try a tech school instead. Chattahoochee & Coosa Valley are alot closer but they take longer to complete. Medix is over an hour away from me (I live in Yorkville). So if anybody here has attended Medix recently or going there now, do you have any thoughts about this?

I would think about where you would like to be in the future. Do you only want to be a MA or would you eventually like to climb the proverbial ladder? That considered.......the reason why Chattahoochee and Coosa take longer is because they are educating more towards the possibility of growth. With Medix......none of the classes taken are transferrable to a higher education where as Chattahoochee and Coosa are. Chattahoochee and Coosa offer a much better education....again being the reason why it is a longer course.

  3. CTC has one of the highest passing rates for the state board exams than most of the colleges around. Ms. Rawles (sp) who runs the LPN program at CTC Paulding is a fantastic educator. She expects only the best from her students. She won't settle for anything less......which is how it should be. I graduated from CTC Paulding's LPN program 9 years ago and I still go back to see her from time to time. I wouldn't be half the nurse I am if it weren't for her.

I have heard way more bad stuff about Chatt Tech than NMT...thank you!! I havent had any problems whatsoever at NMT.

  4. I have suffered from migraines since I was a teenager. I inherited them from my father. I would have atleast 3-4 a week with atleast one of them leaving me completely incapacitated for an entire day. After years of pain medications, chiropractors, and banging my head against a wall.......my doctor finally put me on Atenolol. This is a blood pressure medication (beta blocker). I do not have high blood pressure. "Beta Blockers" are used in the prevention of migraines. I began the medication in October and have not had a migraine since. (other than when I kept forgetting to pick up the refill for a week and ended up with another major one). This is a miracle drug and I will NEVER forget to pick up the refill EVER AGAIN!!!

Migraines could be caused by numerous things as has been stated in the above posts. Your best bet would be to see a Neurologist and try to determine the cause first. Once it is determined that it is not caused by tumors, pinched nerves, etc........INSIST on being put on a "preventative" medication. The "take these pills when you feel one coming on" eventually don't help anymore and/or make you a zombie for a day. This affects your job (which we all can't afford at the moment) and puts strain on you and your family (which adds to the stress that probably triggered it to begin with). I tried everything from taking pills, watching my food and drink intake, chiropractors, etc......nothing ever worked as perfectly as the Atenolol has. There are many different "preventative" medications that you and your doctor can try. Don't suffer another needless moment with a migraine.

Good luck and hope you find blissful relief soon!!!

  5. Peroxide is not good and I imagine was very painful....Ouch!

I agree! I worked in wound care (with humans). Peroxide is an excellent cleaning source for "initial" cleanings. However, after that, not only will it clean out the germs, but also all of the new "good" cells that are trying to develop and heal the area. Two cups of warm water and a tblsp of Epsom salt is a much better cleansing solution. It will cleanse and draw out any infection that is in the tissue.

I hope Batman feels better real soon.

I am so happy to hear that Oreo/Catwoman is doing so well with you and your family. It brings tears to my eyes to hear how well she has been adjusting so far to her new home. Tears of joy that is!! She came into this world an orphan and was one of only 3 kittens in the litter to survive. She has a special purpose in this world I just know it!! And now she is famous? Imagine that!!!

Thank you again to everyone who came to Oreo's aid. I miss her. But I know that she is happy and will be well loved and taken care of!! And that is all that matters!!!

  7. I just want to thank everyone who has read, replied and donated to the rescue of Oreo. I never dreamed the response would be this overwhelming!!!! I cried all the way home from the shelter yesterday. Called everyone I knew to try and find her a new home. I have always known that p.com has the biggest heart!! Especially for our furry family members.

I wanted to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who donated money to help bail Oreo out. Your generosity and compassion will forever be remembered!

GeorgiaMommy....thank you thank you thank you for taking in my lovely baby. She is so full of love. Every day when I would come home from work, she would put her front paws on my shoulders and rub her head on my chin. Her way of hugging I suppose. I hope she brings you as much joy as she always gave me.

Meltid...I don't know if I spoke with you yesterday at the shelter or not. But I wanted to thank you for your post. It relieved me to know that you and your staff also saw Oreo as a sweet loving baby and not ferol.

Words can not express my gratitude towards each and every one of you!

Thank you from the bottom of my soul!!!

  8. I lost my job and had to move in with a friend whose son is allergic to cats. I had two cats that I had to find homes for by the end of October. My daughter was able to take one. My old neighbor had a friend that wanted my other cat. I found out today that the lady who adopted my "Oreo" either mistreated her or decided she didn't want her anymore. She had animal control pick her up under the pretenses that she was vicious and dangerous. Oreo is the most loveable cat you could ever dream of. It broke my heart to give her up. I found out today that she was in the shelter being quarantined. I went there to see her and tried to get her back, but cannot do so without paying the adoption fee. I do not have the money for this as I have not been able to find a job yet. Oreo gets released from quarantine tomorrow (Wednesday) and is available for adoption. Please if anyone here is looking to adopt a cat, please consider Oreo. She is black and white and is very loveable. It breaks my heart to think that she would not be adopted being labeled as a ferrol cat. I have exhausted all resources at trying to rescue her to no avail. She deserves a loving home.

  9. No You are wrong Alcohol doesn't kill it is the people that are irresponsible using it that does.

    Amen

I agree. I've had 3 people killed by drunk drivers and neither one was on Sunday. The day of the week is of no importance. People who drink and drive probably don't pick a day. They just do it. I'll vote yes and I don't even drink.

I totally agree. I, too, have lost my brother to a drunk driving. It happened on a Friday night. Serving alcohol on Sunday makes no difference.

Because your values ARE different, and not everyone shares all of YOUR values as benefiting society, i.e. banning alcohol sales on Sunday. At one time in this Country, alcohol was banned on a religious basis on ALL days. Preachers preached in Church the evils of alcohol, and the temperance movement put the first amendment in the constitution ever based on morality and enforce on it's populous. The amendment later being overturned showed how a popular movement one year can fade in enthusiasm the next, and why such moral amendments that deprive people of the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness should never be allowed to become the law of the land. If you don't wanna drink on Sunday, stay home. Your risk of being killed by a drunk driver is no different on Sun than Mon thru Sat...

    My sentiments exactly.

    I will be voting yes!!!

  10. I am so sorry to hear about this Med!! Now you got me thinking. I don't have a deadbolt either. Think I will be going and getting me one tomorrow. Hope the thugs burn in #^*^# for violating you this way!!!

On a better note!! Glad you got good news at the Docs.

  11. West GA spay and neuter are FANTASTIC. I had both of my babies in there back in May. They both stayed overnight. Mr. Moo came home without any signs of having been neutered. Running and jumping and acting completely normal. However, Ms. Moo was sore for a few days. I had called later in the day after picking them up, concerned about her having a rougher time than Mr. Moo. They were very understanding and helpful. The woman I spoke with, called the vet and then called me back and said that she could give me a few more days of pain meds and to just come on by to get them. I left immediately to go pick them up. When I got there, I realized that she had stayed an hour pass closing time to wait for me. ABOVE AND BEYOND is all I can say. I highly recommend them. If I had more pets, I would be taking them there. I recommend West GA to everyone I see.

  12. Probably a stupid question, but do you have to have a fishing license to do this?

I didn't realize they had fishing there; that sounds like a fun outing :)

Good question! Never thought to ask myself. Glad someone is thinking!!

  13. You can fish at White Oak Park for free. It's catch and release.

I had suggested that myself. Figured between fishing, the playground and the walking trail, there would be several things to do for FREE!!! Unfortunately the little one doesn't like fishing. Thanks though for the suggestion. I know.......I'm being difficult. Sorry.

  14. I have found that Gorge Monkeys is reasonably priced, you can bring your own food, and they have free Wi Fi.

The West Cobb Aquatics center is also pretty reasonably priced at only $3 per person. The Silver Comet Trail is free to walk on.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. What kind of activities does Gorge Monkeys have?
