  1. :o Good thing he wasn't doing that to MY Franklins, or he'd have been sold to the nearest Asian restaurant!

So how many did he scarf down, anyway?

Yea, I'd deliver him already skinned & gutted if he had actually swallowed any. Fortunately only 2 were torn up, I think they can be taped.

  2. So I'm cruzin through P.com waiting for supper to finish cooking and I hear the sound of tearing paper. I know it's Pepper, the destructo pup, who spends the day shredding everything he can get his teeth on. This is getting old and I turn to scold the little miscreant and realize that's not newspaper, but 100 dollar bills in his mouth. Yikes, a stack of $$ that Hubby had set aside in his workshop is sticking out the little #%*!'s mouth. He'd snuck into the workshop and gotten it off the table without Hubby seeing him. He's almost a year and a half at this point and should be past the pest phase. Plants, dishes, magazines, books being shredded is kinda funny (and all my fault), but I draw the line at cash. Where's my hot glue gun and that muzzle?

  3. Would you rather him leave it all in place and drive unsafely, not being able to correctly reach the controls properly or see around him?

True, but it would also be good manners to put everything back to "close to" the way it came. The least he could do was turn the radio station back to where it belonged.

  4. Yes, if you get a cockapoo, yorkipoo, schnoodle or a chi-shizt( I just made that one up. :p) you have a mixed breed dog. People are looking for the $$ by capitalizing on "designer dogs". The fact is you get no guarantee that the great attributes from both breeds are what you'll get. I know a lady who paid $1500 for a goldendoodle for her son who was allergic to everything. At 3 years old the dog was still so out of control and she had spent hundreds of dollars on group and private obedience classes. The child couldn't even play with the dog because she was so exuberent she would knock the kid down. Atleast if you want a specific breed you can research it and decide if that breed matches your lifestyle, needs, etc. There is nothing wrong with mixed breeds. But rather than paying a breeder, why not go to the shelter and get a one-of-a- kind dog? They will love you the same.

Oh, AKC only registers purebred dogs that have a traceable lineage. The unfortunate thing about AKC is they have done little to put an end to puppy mills and pet brokers. They could end it buy just saying that they won't register dogs from commercial breeders. It cheapens their reputation, but they are after the $$.

  5. These people have been around for years now, doing this at intersections all across Cobb and now Paulding. It's sad, but sadder to me that they use their daughter like this. They had her out in the hot, hot sun in a very dangerous roadway in East Cobb 2 or 3 years ago. :( Sounds like the same sign as before, too. I guess they got run out of Cobb.

They also work the intersection at Maxham Rd. and 278 in Douglas County. This may be a legitimate need, but the problem is that so many people panhandle intersections you just get frustrated. Like other folks have said, I don't donate at intersections. Sports teams, churches, Shriners, disabled vets, homeless people, professional panhandlers- where do you draw the line? In the mean time there are cars behind you trying to get somewhere. I wish all intersection solicitation was banned.

  6. Everyone stay off the roads tommrow. I have to go to the office and as a Yankee I am a pro-fess-onal at driving in this stuff and can handle it. The rest of Y'all I ain't to sure about. You have trouble driving in 70 and sunny.

I am more than happy to leave the driving to you yankees. I'll just sit here in my warm little house and drink hot chocolate. That's what snow is for, a guilt-free day off.

  7. When our daughter left for Texas she left her sister us a long haired black cat Very friendly But daughter takes no time up with him <_< . We have spent a fortune on this cat he is fixed and chipped

but he don't like staying in doors all the time. I don't get it. Who wants to stay out side when it is cold.

My cats are indoor/outdoor. Fortunately, the older they get, the more they prefer to stay inside. I've had cats that were so insistent to get outside that they would hide near the door and dash between your legs to get out. I had one cat that I tried making a porch cat to keep him from getting out. I watched him rip a screen loose on the porch to get out. I do spay and neuter all my animals and keep them up to date on vaccines including the feline leukemia vaccine.

  8. That's a Newfie--also known as the "Gentle Giant."

Anyway--they may not want to post any pics, but they are now the loving owners of a small puppy who will probably grow up to be a HUGE dog.

    I couldn't be happier.

Thanks, guys, for taking her!

    I  happy endings!

I'm so glad you had such a short turn around on finding the baby a home. I love Newfies, I just can't face the short life span or the slobber. I hope this puppy has a "happy ever after."

  9. anyone stepped out side this morning? it is cold out there now LOL

Yes, I went to the park to check and see if anyone was going to show up for dog class. Fortunately, no one showed up and I was able to leave before I froze solid. My fingers went numb even with gloves on. Glad everyone was smart and stayed home.

  10. ASP is one of those unfortunate areas when kids of different ages come in contact with each other. I hope you can contact the ASP director and let them know what is happening. The adults should be making sure that the kids are not teasing or harrassing other students. Raising a fuss may get some results. Let your sweet baby know that some kids have to hurt others to make themselves feel better. She has a choice to avoid this little bully. If she doesn't, make waves. The ASP is getting your money. They need to keep your child safe.

  11. I'm glad this has been rectified. Back in the olden days when I was teaching I had a principal that said there was to be absolutely no eating in the classroom by the teachers. I kept something in my desk for when I had insulin reactions. One day my principal caught me munching on raisins as he came into my classroom and pulled me out into the hallway. I informed him I was having a low blood sugar episode and the raisins would bring it back up. He was about to rake me over the coals, and you could tell he was thinking about the fact that as a diabetic, I could make trouble. He stammered that I should do what I needed to do and left to go terrorize another teacher. The number of times I've had an insulin reaction while in the classroom increased as my diabetes became more brittle. I had more than one administrator that had to call 911 because I had crashed. Thank goodness when this happened I had more understanding administrators. The difference between a diabetic and another disabled person is that it is an "invisible" handicap. No matter how well you control your blood sugar, that unexpected crash can happen.

  12. I've had two dogs that spent the night on 2 different occasions with stress induced gastroenteritis under emergency conditions. They were very very well cared for. I also had surgery done on my lab girl who had a torn cruciate ligament. The surgeon, Dr. Noon was very good. I've had more satisfactory results and treatment than I did at Westside or what ever it is called on Thornton Rd.

  13. If any sheds turn up out on our place, I'll let you know. And I'll keep you in mind for others ... have you checked with area processors?

No, the Deer Cooler that you mentioned is the first one I've found. I've copied their phone # and will be calling them. Red Bandana sells them for outrageous sums of $, and they last a long time. But I want to have them readily available to give to folks new to our dog classes, particularly ones that mention chewing problems. (At $12.00 for a 6 inch antler, I'm not too charitable.)

  14. My brother had my niece's reception at The Park Tavern in Piedmont Park. It was held downstairs on I guess you would call it a porch. It was very nice, but I'm sure it was rather expensive. They had probably about 100-125 people. The menu was a meat/fish buffet and a grits bar.

The picnic theme at the bar b q place sounds cute! There are so many possibilities that a creative person could come up with. I think the expense also depends on how much you are willing to do yourself. Good luck.

  15. Glitter-with 4 kids---yeah-next time I come up with that idea remind me that I am still cleaning up glitter from this project. So I sit down with four kids and glue and glitter and popsicle sticks to make snowflakes for the nursing home patients for Valentine's Day. Sometimes, I get great ideas and then sometimes I just lose my mind. I have glitter EVERYWHERE-hair, ears, chairs, carpet, tile, tables, cabinets--and I will be gleaning up for the next 20 years. It doesn't sweep or vaccum or wipe. It just sticks to everything. Well anyway, the snowflakes turned out great---

They do look great. Have you tried glitter glue or glitter paint? Oh, wait, strike the glitter paint. That would be two, two, ...two messes in one.

  16. The new QT in Jasper had it for $1.25 when we went there earlier in December. I went back through last week and all the other stations around it had dropped their's to $1.25, too. I know it doesn't help us, but it was refreshing to see even if it was only a way to jump start business. I'd never really think QT would need to do that, though.

We came home from Blue Ridge yesterday. Gas in Blue Ridge and Elijay were in the high $1.50's and $1. 60's. We got to Jasper and got gas for $1.25. I don't see how it costs that much more to carry gas 40 miles further. Tourist towns = higher gas.
