  1. I firmly believe the folks who you perceive to be satisfied by Paulette Braddock's missteps are guilty of nothing more than being passionate about the county in which they live. These guys aren't just coming out of the woodwork, they've been here on PCom for years discussing the issues that matter. They were familiar with Braddock before this election, knew she was a bad apple, and find it imperative to warn the rest of us that this candidate has never been mistaken as ethical, upstanding, nor the kind of person you would expect to think outside the box to create novel solutions to difficult issues this county faces. When stories come out, even covered in the AJC, that lend credibility to the narrative they've already presented to you, well, certainly there's some satisfaction involved. But it's a satisfaction based on a love for the county...a hope that citizens caught the news....a satisfaction that we may have a more informed electorate choosing our representative in the Gold Dome. They know, and hopefully you know, that with the exposed record of Paulette Braddock she should be looked upon as unequivocally unelectable.

Not sure there's a pleasant way to present two arrests (one felony arrest), a personal business bankruptcy, and a BOE voting record that got her booted from the board? I mean I'm sure she's a pleasant person to be around but I'm not voting her into office to be congenial.

    mrnn

    Both excellent points.... :good:

We can only hope that this mid-year election, with National significance, brings out the vote...Also we can only HOPE that the electorate will become informed about who is running, what they stand for...And YES whether or not they have been arrested!

Thanks to Pubby for allowing this forum to exist allowing facts like this to be presented...If only there was some way for every resident of PC to realize this site exists...

A BILLBOARD Perhaps....at the intersection of 278 and Hway 92!

I will be the first to send a check for $25 if someone will start a fund!

    "HEY, PAULDING COUNTY...

Did You Know we have an alternative to the local news outlets?

    IT's "PAULDING.COM"

Google it and see what's happening!

  2. I believe real ribs can only be cooked one way, on the smoker, mainly because I never had any indoor ribs that did not remind me of either shoe leather or some flavorless meat mush. I tried some one evening following a recipe from Alton Brown which changed my mind. It was off one of his Good Eats episodes on Food Network, it was the first indoor ribs I ever enjoyed. I have been making them that way ever since when the smoker is not practical.

Just Google "Alton Brown Who Loves Ya Baby-Back" for the recipe, I think the episode is even posted on Youtube if you want to watch it.

    Good 'ol Alton...

I'll just bet he didn't boil 'em in Coca-Cola or Dr. Pepper for 45 minutes either...

I bet he recommended low heat...225-250 for at least a couple of hours and recommended basting them during the final minutes of cooking time...

But what do I know...right Feelip?

  3. My understanding is that the OP wasn't looking for "The Perfect Rib" but was looking for a quick recipe to make a decent rib indoors.

No such thing as a Quick, Decent rib cooked indoors.

You can have a Quick Rib, but it won't be decent

You can have a Decent Rib but it won't necessarily be quick.

Besides it was very late in the day to be cooking BBQ pork for dinner...

If you don't agree with or like my comments, then send me a PM and we'll discuss it, other members of this board aren't interested in our dissagreements!

  4. I totally agree with the boiling thing. I do not like them like that at all. And you are probably right about the temp, but my oven won't go any lower. Go figure. It has a minimum of 275, so that is what I cook them on. It works though. They are awesome every time, and the meat falls off the bone.

If the meat 'falls off the bone' they're overcooked.

You want the meat to have just a bit of resistance when you bite into the rib, that's the way we judge them at KCBS. My wife and I have been certified judges for the past 8 years. We have judged about a hundred rib contests.

But BBQ is one of those things that folks feel strongly about, smoke flavor or not, sauce or not, sweet sauce or vinegar based...it's all a matter of personal taste. My comments are from the perspective of how we were taught to judge ribs at the professional cook offs.

Bottom line, if your family likes them then they are the best around... :drinks:

  5. are you needing them tonight? I have an awesome bbq sauce recipe for you... fall apart oven ribs

    Aunt B's Bar-B-Q Sauce

    ½ cup wine vinegar

    4 tbs sugar

    2 tbs mustard

    1 tsp pepper

    1 tsp salt

    ½ cup butter

2 thick sliced Lemon (or 1 tbs lemon juice)

    2 sliced onions

    1 cup catsup

    4 tbs Worcestershire sauce

Stir all ingredients but catsup and Worcestershire sauce together in a large pan. Simmer covered 20-30 minutes. Add catsup and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to boil.

Spoon over country cut ribs. Cover and let marinade for 4 hours in fridge. Preheat oven to 350°. Cook for 2 hours.

you must let me know what you think

    It needs:

    Thyme

    Oregano

    Cayenne Pepper

    Onion powder

    Garlic powder

    And

    Brown sugar

  6. wrapped in tin foil, very tightly, on 275 for 3 hrs. You may want to hurry if you want them for dinner. :p

275 is waaaay to high...Needs to be around 225, but 3 hrs is about right.

Par boiling will shorten the time but it makes the meat a bit tough..

  7. Did you know that the sentence "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter in the English language.

That is precisely why it was used, to test/verify that all the keys actually worked....even before computers....when typewriters weren't even electric...which most on this board have probably not used!

    :D

  8. If people are relying on some buck toothed, cheapskate miser on the radio to tell them how to handle their money, we've bigger problems.

    KLSX

I just knew when I saw this quote....It HAD to have come from you!

When do you get your radio show? I am sure we will ALL be waiting for your investment advice, and your personal credit recommendations as well.

    :D

  9. Thay have (apparently) changed their procedure and now only take your card at the cash register when you leave.

The theft was occuring when they took your card at the table.

I have never felt comfortable when my card was out of my sight......

This is an excellent local mex rest..... not nearly as good as La Parilla but, you should give them another chance.

  10. I heard through the grapeving that Pat was leaving at the end of the year and that a guy named Hankerson was taking her place....that's all the rumor mill, so nothing in stone as of yet.... Anyone else have the scoop? By the way, my barber is a gal named Bobbie... who's yours?

My Barber is a guy named Bernie Madoff.....he gives ME Tips!

    :D

  11. 1) Football, football & more football on TV. Not just Xmas Day, but 24-hours for the next week, through the BCS Championship Game after New Year's Day. Maybe get some of the NAIA schools to play some games after midnight. You know, schools you've never heard of before.

    2) No speeding tickets for guys on Xmas Day.

    3) More shots of the cheerleaders during the aforementioned football games.

    4) Steaks would be 85% off regular price the week before Xmas & all guys are allowed to buy the side items in precooked containers. We enjoy grilling the steaks; the rest of the meal is what gives us problems. So microwaveable side items with the 85% discount steaks would easily make #4 on our list.

    5) Jessica Simpson.

    6) Household pets are surgically fixed with a computerized something-er-nuther so that all bodily functions are turned off during December 25, & for 24 hours there is no need to feed, water or let them outside. None. It just doesn't happen.

    7) Cindy Crawford.

8 ) Low fat, low sugar, low carb & low calories are all outlawed on Xmas Day.

    9) The only TV movies allowed to be shown on Xmas Day would be Braveheart, any of the Terminator movies or Clint Eastwood westerns. Oh, we'll also add that guys may have their own channel whereby they may select any "guy" movie during the 24 hours of Christmas Day --- without commercials, of course.

    10) Heidi Klum.

    11) Oprah Winfrey is hereby censored by Congress & no longer allowed to have a TV show, nor appear in public without duct tape over her mouth.

    12) The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

    13) Guys are allowed a free pair of Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones. They must be returned to the local police station after New Year's Day to get your $2.50 deposit back.

    14) A week's "Beer Pass" (or "Soft Drink/Coffee Pass" --- hey, it's Xmas!) is granted to every guy at his favorite sports bar, & it can be used 24/7 until it expires January 2 of the next year.

    15) Jessica Simpson.

    16) Jessica Simpson.

    17) Jessica Simpson.

    18) The remote control works on whatever the guy points it toward.

    19) Barney, the purple lizard, is no longer allowed to make videos or TV shows, nor allowed to merchandise any thing, especially children's clothing items.

    20) Did I mention Jessica Simpson?

    Tbar.............

I think you have just about covered it.....

I might want to add 21-25

    Heidi Klum

    Heidi Klum

    Heidi Klum

    Heidi Klum

    Heidi Klum

    And 26-28

    Jennifer Anniston

    Angelina Jolie

    Shania Twain

  12. But Dallas man had since moved to Dallas Georgia and was able to prove he was arguing with Itheil over religion at time of the drive by thereby gaining an airtight alibi.

The point is that in all this kind of stuff, the cops and authorities more or less consider the gang bangers and low level criminals dumb. I would suspect that if you were to average the IQ's of those in jail it would be somewhere in the range of 88; the national norm, by definition, being 100.

That low average is due to the fact that 80 percent of those incarcerated typically are below average intelligence and so would not be likely to take any precaution like, stopped in the middle of a drive by to pick up spent cartridges sent bouncing on the street. Combine that with the fact that most criminal activity is done by those too young to have learned much from experience and you have a winner that will work in 85 percent of the cases.

This system is not perfect but frankly, given the use of firearms in criminal activity, this seems as viable a tool as any. Certainly it beats hell out of the counter proposal that suggests that everyone have to fire a round to gain ballistics on the gun offered so that can be catalogued for posterity.

But again I favor letting the new oridiance slowly and normally make its way into the marketplace (with as little drama as possible) and in 15 years the use of old unmarked ordinance will likely be largely history.

    Well stated..............

I think I have enough to hold 'em off for a few days already.....

  13. Okay, so is there one near by? I was thinking this might be a cool gift if someone does gift cards.

I mean I have only seen them from the movies. If you know where one is do you have a website? Can anyone just go? Do they let you use a gun of theirs? Is it inside?

Okay- I think that is all.

    Thanks

Ask NC-17.....she seems to know where they are....

    <_<

  14. I now the millage rates went up for autos..... yeah...my 2001 truck now cost as much in Paulding as it does in Cobb!

My taxes went up from 120. to 159.

Ditto....I have 4 vehicles to pay for.

Also just paid my property taxes.....no way my house will appraise for that!

    Let's see now;

Property values have dropped by at least 10-12% this year maybe more but it takes "comps" to know for sure and there aren't many of those these days

My 401K has lost at least 40% of its market value

My bank was bought out by a non US bank that no longer pays interest on the account

I will be willing to bet, the millage rate will go up in '09 to compensate for the fall in real estate values.......

Seems like "the harder I work the behinder I get"

    :o

  15. No...The butt of the bullet is encoded with the number as well as the casing. The writing is small enough that they can put the number on the bullet several times, on the base. If multiple fragments are found (again IF) then they can identify the owner of the bullet. This way, if the people build a catch for the casings, if they can find a bullet, they can make an identification. Read the links I posted earlier. You will find all the information you need to understand what they are trying to do, how they are trying to do it and the states that have bills on the books for discussion and or voting.

I'll be waiting for this episode of CSI Miami......

The owner of the bullet had accidently dropped a box down the storm drain in front of his home in Dallas Texas, the contractor who cleaned the drain 4 years later kept the box of amunition, he later gave it to a homeless man in New Jersey who swapped it for a pack of Marlboros with a street gang member who later went to Miami and held up a liquor store.

Poor guy in Dallas is wanted for murder now in Miami......

This is really gonna work well!

  16. Pubby...In GA it maybe only a 1/2 penny per round, but in KY...they have proposed legislation to tax the encoded bullets at a nickel per round (I read most of the bill on line). I don't know if it has gone to vote and passed or failed but the bill is there for viewing if you search for it. Each state can set their own tax to recover the cost of adding the encoding and keeping the serial numbers in a database. So, Eym Sirius was correct about the nickel...but not with the state of GA.

the GA law is actually funny......I told you we have State Reps that do not know the difference.

What you bet the staffer that wrote the bill actually meant .05/round?
