  2. I feel your pain .

I am a widow, head of household , and I was out of work for 4 months .

I went to a mentor and he told me it is a numbers game and he told me to apply for 30 jobs a day !

Crazy , but I ended up doing that .

Go to the GA dept of Labor site , you can check for jobs there . I also took the test for the GA Work Ready Program , which I was able to take for free. And I got certified which helps when they ask if you have any certifications .

Also , in your situation , you should go to a local community college . You may qualify for a free course that would only take up 1 day a week of your time. Many of these programs will find you a job while your taking classes . It may only be $8.00 an hour and like 16 hrs a week , but they are tax free . Try Chatt Tech .

Clark Howard said something which is very true . Stay away from the large companies . They get 200 applicants a day . Try to find a small Mom & Pop company that has 30 and under employees.

You have to be creative and think out of the box. Even being a waitress at a local pizza restraunt during lunch hour can pay better than many boreing jobs . And you never know who you will meet .

Just dont give up . After a 4 month dry spell , I actually had 4 offers for positions in 1 week . Then I had to deceide which one I wanted . I actually picked one close to home , alittle less money , but less gas . I also love the product and the people who work there . The job I chose is only 3 days a week , so I also took another position that is 2 days a week .

Get out and meet people . It's not always what you know, but who you know .

  3. I feel your pain !! I have been looking vigorously for 16 months -

check out CoPart and Parsec - both show opening at their call centers - and yep - I have already sent in my application -

Thank you . And I feel your pain .

I have had a few interviews. Marietta, Cedartown, Dalton,Cartersville .

I pass their computer tests, interviews go well , then I get the dreaded email that they hired someone with more qualifications .

    Its scary out there

  4. I have been out of work for 2 mos .

I know it's frustrating. I have filled out over 100 applications (online).

I am also looking for a call center/customer service job.

I don't know if this will help ..

But I just took a test with

    http://gaworkready.org/

My grades were good , and when I get my card in the mail ,I will be able to sign up for jobs on their board .

The tests are taken at Chatt Tech , the schedule is on their site .

Also , let me know if you ever need parts. My son gets discounts , might be able to help you get a better price.

  6. I do not know Zach , but you sound like a wise & Christian man . And a loyal friend . Your parents must be awesome because you are . You will go far in life . stay positive & strong ..

I have just noticed that there are 686 reads on this post and 20 posts .

I respect the Paulding County Sheriff department and I am sure they will do what is best for these boys .

What they did was terribly wrong on so many levels and it will be dealt with . But I hope and pray that they will get help .

They are young , and I hope society will help rehabilitate so they can go to college and grow up to have normal lives. I pray the victims of this crime will get their finances repaired . I do not know these boys , but I have heard 1 is very sweet and his classmates are surprised. It breaks my heart for them and their parents .

I am alittle sensitive to bashing because I have been to monthly suicide survivor support groups . Yes, this is not the subject .. But I have heard so many stories of what families have gone through with teen bullying , gossip , adult finances, depression & just feeling hopeless . So I am sensitive to how I talk about people . And I have taught my children to be just as sensitive/respectful. The damage is done , lets move forward now .

As far as careers go . Some of the best doctors have been through family illness. Some of the best psychologists have had huge family challenges. Some of our best leaders have had hard times .

So we should not give up on people young or old .

  7. So incredibly sad. I don't care how good of a parent you think you are and that it will never happen to you, just think of those times where you lost sight of your child for one brief moment and count your lucky stars that you were spared from something so horrible. I would have to be on knocked out on sedatives probably for the rest of my life. :(

I agree . Prayers being said for this family

  8. I've often wondered how you know if it is in backwards?????? One side has the cardboard on it and the other side doesn't, so how do you know ????

The arrow on a furnace air filter should point in the direction of the air flow

Now that he put it in the right way , I will just always make sure I put it in the same way

  9. When Scott from Pinnacle came to my house, he pointed out to me that I put my downstairs filter in 'backwards'.

And he didn't laugh at me !

Whoever built this house .. I don't know why .. to get to the attic to change the filter ..

I have to crawl across my attic on wooden beams :(

    It's crazy

  10. They said on the news yeaterday that home values will continue to drop .

But I still like being a homeowner .

I was raised in Chicago and never lived in a house.

We always lived in apartments .

I did not live in a house until I got married when I was 28 .

So I am hopeing we can hang on to what we have .

It is important for me to have a home for my almost grown children. And always have a place for them to come to - to call home .

  11. I talked to a friend last night & she is now very upside down on her house.

She & her husband are talking about walking away from it .

Her husband is worried about their credit

But she said everyone has bed credit now so she does not care ! :)

Her co-worker in Villa Rica is very upside down because all the houses around this woman have been forclosed on . She said they looked it up & all those empty houses belong to Wells Fargo . This woman , too, is thinking of walking away from her home as it was badly built & she has had so many problems with her siding, roof & septic . And her house is only 3 years old ..

Let's vote & pray that things get better in the next few years
